Not for me. He had everything to become our biggest legend for sure but he left too early for that

Beckham was a United supporter who was at the club since he was 14 and never wanted to leave. Ronaldo was at the club for six years and agreed with comments about him being a slave for not being able to leave after five of them.
Now, I'm not saying I consider Becks a legend, at least not on par with the likes of Charlton, Giggs etc, but for me he's above Ronaldo (in terms of being considered a legend of the club) for multiple reasons.

When I'm old I'll definitely be telling people I grew up watching Ronaldo grow up into the world dominator he turned into. If that's not a legend nothing is.

If he comes back and wins the league it’s not even a debate. Tbf he’s won multiple league titles and been one of our greats anyway, only reason it’s a question is because he left too early.

Just for context, Ronaldo was with us longer than Cantona, who is most certainly a legend.

Nah the context is Cantona gave his all for the club and transformed us. He retired on a high after inspiring us to win the league for the first time in 20 odd years and helping to bring through a golden generation of kids.

And Ronaldo didn't give his all at the club? We won a champions league with him. He was our first Balloon Door winner for 50 years. He also didn't get banned for 9 months. Not that I'm in any way trying to diminish his achievements at the club by the way, but Ronaldo was and still is a United legend.

I have two categories when evaluating our players in terms of their status in the club's history.
Legend--Players who (1) showed an exceptional excellence in their position, (2) brought tangible success to the club, and (3) had a special relationship with the fans in terms of affection and mutual appreciation.
Hall of Fame--Players who were exceptional in their position but lacked either tangible success or club affection or both. I think De Gea is currently a good example of this category.
Ronaldo was a borderline case for a legend due to the question of the special relationship with club (going to Madrid called that into question somewhat, although I've always thought fondly of him). The fact that he has returned seals the legendary status for me. The fact that we are all rejoicing over his return confirms that he has a special relationship with, and affection for, this club, and we, the fans, for him.

They're minority but still super weird to see so many people voting no.
If he is not yet, which is very arguable, I doubt many people are going to say no when we win the league this season.
Arguable, only because he left fairly early in his career and gave his best years to Real Madrid.
Even at this age he's still one of the best strikers in the world, and can easily put out top level performance for 3 more seasons until his form falls off a cliff, given how much he's trained to be at the top of his game. If we win a PL or CL before he calls it a day it will no longer be a debate.

He is a legend. He did legendary stuff here. He's achieved more than others that have legendary status here. His peers consider him a United legend (go look up what the current manager said about him). His name was still regularly sang years after his departure. The club considers him a legend.

It’s an old thread. I said no before today’s events. With so many great legends over the past 20 years, it was hard to consider someone who left in their prime a legend. You can argue against, but also for. Obviously things will probably change after today, especially if he wins a major trophy in his current spell here.
We win a title and/or cl with him in next 2 years, yes.
If he carries us to the Premier league title this year, then a statue is in order. I'm not even joking He could earn more and be guarenteed trophies if he went anywhere else. He returned to Utd, where he is not guaranteed anything. He didn't have to,but he did. Just enjoy having him back, 99% of the fans of other clubs can only dream of what has just happened to us, the words greatest player coming home to Old Trafford.
For 9 seasons at Real Madrid…. He had 2 world class seasons at United.
He’s won countless CL with Real, He’s their leading goal scorer, when the DVD of his career is made 80% of it will be his time at Real Madrid, in 5,10,20,30,40 years time people across the world will say “Ronaldo the Real Madrid legend”
And Ronaldo grew as a player here, never once hid the fact he wanted to play in Spain and for Madrid and he stayed here an extra.year where he helped win the Champions League and won World Player of the Year.
Since he has left he has always spoken highly of his time here, his friendships and relations with players and Fergie and he has never once disrespected the club.
And now he has come back.
He definitely deserves legend status imho.

Its not mutually exclusive. He's a United Legend AND a Madrid Legend. If he wins a major trophy with us and couples our comeback from SAF retirement, he would cement himself in United's history. They'll be singing about him a 100 years from now (if football still exists).

You keep saying, but his first stint here has been legendary was quite a bit even in the larger football world. And it absolutely is among United fans. You should hear some United fans talk about it when they talk to younger fans who don't remember it. You'd think they were talking about ancient legends and myths.
