Iran v US confrontation

Weird that Vice’s video on Dick Cheney popped up on my Hulu today
Def watch it if you haven't yet. It explains so many things - it's easy to forget all the crap they pulled during the W administration. In essence an attack on our political system that prepped the playing field for Donnie. By the Cheney camp that is - you almost feel sorry for W after watching it. Almost.

How do they end up getting attached above the water level? Do they jump out of the water when a ship comes close or something?
They place them below the water line if they want the ship to sink and above the water line if they don’t want to do anything other than try to find an excuse to start a war. Which rules out the Iranians imo.

A lot of PNAC stuff in it?

Possibly related, some reports of a rocket attack on the US embassy in Baghdad.

katyushas are from ww2. im not sure iran would be using them

Iran-backed militias certainly would. Hezbollah and the Gaza factions have all used them.

Now the Pentagon is saying an Iranian missile was fired at a US drone.

It’s gonna take a helluvalot of convincing to even get me to contemplate believing that Iran has gone from compliance with the nuclear deal to this.

If the Iranians did fired a missile at a US drone(btw they didn't, the US is just lying) you have to image there would be some video feedback from the drone., right ?

There’s gotta be something. I’ve just not seen a news source yet that’s said “we’ve seen the tape”.

Which... hmm

The Americans said it took place at 4pm gulf time

Feck knows then, but the video is definitely a thermal camera. There's something going on here but i struggle to make the leap that it's the Americans themselves trying to justify a war.

Netanyahu is getting implicated in shit in Israel isn't he?

Combined with the Saudis being well, the Saudis.

Enough of a reason to prod Trump in the direction of war even without Trump desperately needing and wanting a war to distract from all of the investigations and the chance (he might not of course) of losing 2020 in a humiliating fashion.

All three nations want iran off the map. Wouldn't be surprised if they're working to do just that.

America are always looking for a fight...pity they send normal folk rarther then the coin behind it. Of course America should leave well alone but they won't because their history is littered with aggression.
America is a continuation of the British Empire ... just kidding, I really hope they stop getting in conflicts or at least stop sending young men to the war.

It is truly infuriating that the same class of pundits that led the cheerleading for Iraq are still in charge at the biggest newspapers. (see also - David Brooks, yesterday, also in the NYT: "Voters, your foreign policy views stink.")
And of course many of the same politicians too. But pundits are less powerful and you'd hope they would be gone by now.

One of the points in the video is something I was going to bring up : the Japanese PM was in Iran while the supposed attack was happening.
It's fishy as feck.
It doesn't even have to be the US. People think a man that chops up a person in an embassy wouldn't have any problem, sabotaging some tankers?
People on the vessels have given accounts directly contradicting the US.

Inread a long article some years back about how foreign policy think-tanks work. Theyre all from the same hell hole. And most of them get funding from one country...Saudi Arabia. It's sickening.

Follow the funding and one gets to know the true intentions behind any think-tank really.

I don't want the UK to get dragged into this shit again either and the US has no trust us we know card to play.

I don't agree with the US pulling out of its deal with Iran either but that doesn't give anyone the right to start blowing up shit on oil tankers.

Can anyone confirm if this Iranian announcement quoted on the BBC is true.

"After the sanctions were tightened last month, Iran announced that "if it could not export its oil, no other country would be allowed to export theirs", Dr Aniseh Bassiri Tabrizi, from the Royal United Services Institute, said".

If it is its damning.

That statement seems to be from last December:

If Iran can't export oil from Gulf, no other country can, Iran's president says
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ountry-can-irans-president-says-idUSKBN1O30MI

It's not the only statement like that, e.g. this from last week:

They've been promising retaliatory measures for a while. People don't seem to understand that the US effectively declared war on Iran with the current sanctions regime, and they're absolutely killing Iran to the point where Tehran may not feel like it has a lot to lose to striking back in whatever limited way possible.

C*nts are all queuing up to condemn Jeremy Corbyn for having the temerity to suggest that piling in to a US-led illegal, unnecessary and massively bloody war in the Middle East might not be what the UK needs right now.
Unfortunately it's a vote winner. There's an awful lot of folk in the UK who like to bang on about past Wars, yet the only gun they have ever held is a fecking water pistol.
