IPL 2019

Another great performance from Chennai so far, but surely Delhi missed a trick by choosing to bat first.

Chennai's game plan is clearly to bowl first, throttle the opposition and chase down a moderate total. Their ageing batting line-up is much better-suited to chasing a score than setting one.

Surely the next team that wins the toss against them has to stick them in.

Dhawan lost Delhi the match with his bullshit innings.

SRH played a blinder. Traded in a player who will give you one season at his peak at best and got a young and upcoming Vijay Shankar in return.

Delhi could've easily opened up with Ingram. Kept Shankar at five. Perfect.

No but morons traded in three players to SRH.

Not really. He's just taking it easy. Safety over NRR.

More like Pant + rest of middle order collapsing. Surely they have batsmen afer Pant who can score more than 29 in 5 overs?

He scored at a scoring rate of 108.5. That's bullshit. It was his even lack of scoring which put the pressure at the lower middle order to come out swinging from the very first ball.

Dhoni's innings was worse. There was no pressure at all and no reason to go so slow.

He looks like he's had his day tbh. Been a great player but I think he's a liability for CSK now.

Will be interesting to see what happens if/when someone throws CSK's tactics back at them. Bowl first, flood the innings with spin, set the field back and make those old legs run the ones and twos. Reckon that's the way to beat them.

Yeah, start was decent then Dhawan and Iyer just killed the innings. Later Pant did really well to keep it going. At one point Delhi were 120-2 after 15 overs, so the platform was set by Pant, once he got out Delhi just collapsed.

Dhawan's innings was wasteful and Delhi's middle order batsmen just collapsed, they should have scored at least 170.

Man it's so painful to be a Delhi supporter year after year. It's like we get the same story with new players every single year . Most teams are aiming to win but I would be happy with even a playoff spot for once.

Touche.

KKR open with firepower with Narine going big scoring 25 in an over . KKR 34-0 after 2.3 overs

Looks like I jinxed my team with both Narine and Lynn gone . Well it's all on the middle order now to guide us to a competitive score .

Wasnt narine a bowler?

He is a specialist spinner with strong striking abilities hence he is always send at the start as sort of a pinch hitter to make use of the powerplay . It's been a successful experiment with him beginning the innings for past 2 seasons .

 I remember him as a number xi type of batsman so weird.

Tbf it worked today too. They got off to an absolute flyer. If Lynn was still in they'd be in an amazing position to get 200 now.

I think it was in a match last season when Lynn and Narine smashed around 100 run in 6 or 7 overs with Narine scoring the fastest 50 while chasing a target of around 170 or 180 .

His ascendancy to the top of the order was as surprising, as it turned out to be a master stroke! Yeah, definitely was/is a bowler, who just sort of started smashing it as an opening batsman! So now he’s one of the MVP’s of the IPL because of his all round ability.

Russell going big...He is 47 of 15 balls ...it's crazy since he was 3 of his first 5 balls
