IPL 2019

Why does CSK get so much hate in here? Serious question.
Probably because we have been the most consistent and one of the dominant teams in the IPL. I mean, we have reached like 7 finals in the first 11 years, while being suspended for 2 seasons. Made the playoffs every year. Naturally, there will always be haters when a team is so successful.

Yeah I must say, I’ve always liked them.

But the Chennai pitch is so slow and unpredictable and the team batting second has a big advantage because of the dew which effectively means the toss is everything .

Chennai have batted first or chased with equal success. It all depends on the toss.

Dhoni said he picks players even in draft for Chennai pitch....which is a lesson Mumbai (and many other teams) fails to learn repeatedly.

You can't just attribute all that consistent success to just pitch alone. And...this makes last season's unexpected wins from Pune all the more impressive.

Exactly. And I don't get all this furore over the pitch. I mean, it's a home match, the home team must do everything possible to win. Maybe other teams should take a leaf out of CSK's book and prepare pitches best suited to their team.

That Wink sealed the game. You can't comeback after that.

Wink now you fecker

What are Rajasthan doing?

Something not quite right there. Loads of talent but playing utterly brainless cricket in ever match. Guess there'll be a change of coach and possibly captain during the off-season.

Excellent, Rahul. Hopefully that's the end of Dhawan in the Indian team.
Yeah Rahul should be opening for you guys in the white-ball team. Him and Jadeja are the best fielders you've got and he can bat through the innings.

Based on my (limited) knowledge of India's available batsman, I'd go the following for WC:

Rahul
Shaw
Kohli
Samson
Pant
Dhoni
H Pandya
Jadeja
K Yadav
Kumar
Bumrah

But I imagine they'll stick with the tried and tested players and wait until after the tournament to bring in the new blood.

You just cant drop two batsmen who average 45 and 48 as openers. Argubaly the two best in limited overs. I've previously suggested dropping Rohit down the order to fit Rahul.

Brohit has to be there up top with Rahul. Swap out Samson for someone else and you may be on to something.

Yup, Rohit and especially Dhawan will be stinking it up at the world cup. Might change only afterwards.

Too late to blood in youngsters like shaw now. It should have been done since last year. Rohit and dhawan are safe and proven bets. Rahul should be in playing 11 maybe at number 4 or maybe like @Di Maria's angel suggested play rohit at number and open with rahul.

As opposed to the pearls of wisdom that you bestow

Rohit sharma batting average since he got made opener from 2013: 52, 52, 50, 62, 71, 73, 42

Barring this year(which is still good because 42 is a good average in ODIs), he is in one of the greatest ever discussion for openers.

This is Shikhar Dhawan in the same period: 50, 47, 37, 57, 48, 49, 35

This is the two of them together: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/wi/content/records/283664.html

4th highest scoring opening pair of all time at a very comparable average to the others on the list, bettered only by VERY illustrious opening pairs. These stats, combined with the fact that Dhawan's record in ICC tournaments makes them automatic selections for any team. Poor form happens - you give people chances.

It takes different skill to succeed at the international level. These guys have done that.

You think the two of them are going to 'stink' the place up. I really don't need to say anything more.

Ah the banes of Indian cricket - history and obsession with stats.

Let's review this at the end of world cup.

If not stats, what exactly are you looking at when you advocate for these 2 to be dropped and the other 2 to be picked?

Bit of drama here. Should have been called a no ball

Yeah possibly it was a no ball but umpires made a decision and it should be respected but the behaviour of Jadeja and Dhoni was pathetic . They were literally trying to bully the umpires into making a favourable decision.

Ben stokes is the biggest choker in world cricket, why give him the final over, deserved to lose

Rahane is one of the lamest captain. Stokes is a poor death bowler and yet he gives him the kver rather than kulkarni who was bowling well. Poor captaincy and less said about stokes the better.
