I still think he'd be more effective in red ball if he had a smarter captain. Root is from the classic English school and only seems to trust tweakers and medium pacers (as reflected in his record). But anyway, that's for another thread.
Possibly, but it's an easy cop out for a leg spinner to blame their captain. Personally, I think Rashid just bowls too many bad balls in red ball cricket which makes it easy for batsmen that can pick him to just sit in against his good ones.
And let's be fair, Rashid's first class record is middling and Root has played with him for nigh on a decade. If Root doesn't make more use of him, I'd suggest it's likely because he doesn't rate him in this format.
