India vs NZ

fecking bullshit. That was no ball.

Pathetic.

We've been robbed here honestly. feck off.

should've been a 3 match series.

excellent test match. NZ quality side.

not a no ball.. Has to touch when landing.

Similar to front foot no ball. It's alright if you go over in the slide when delivering.

Nice gift to new ICC president Uncle Srini from Umpires :D

It touched the line when it landed.

It was amazing how quickly umpires decided on no ball when it was very close. Didn't even use magnifying zoom. I am sure all other boards have decided to feck India on pitch in cahoots with umpires and let BCCI make money for everyone outside it

I also hope that BCCI reconsider the DRS thing. It's biting us in the arse. Quality test match though, Wagner was terrific.

 yea.

I prefer the flow of the game without DRS. It's fecked us over a couple of times recently unfortunately.

I really love how logically and sensibly Dhoni speaks. Must be one of the most 'thinking cricketing brains' to have played game ever. Add to that the calmness.

Shame. Should have won this. No.6 and 7 should be able to see out the new ball and not just try to hit their way out.

Both the bowling and batting in first innings cost us.

I blame the bowling. Batting game plan goes for a toss if you concede 500 in the first innings. You're not batting to set the tone of the match anymore.

Jadeja played some great shots, but has he ever watched test cricket before? You cannot sustain that kind of play in test cricket for more than a couple of overs. You'd think he'd have learnt it in the 2nd test versus SA. If he has the temperament to make 300 runs, why can't he try battling it out for 60 today, with Dhoni doing the same?

I definitely don't believe Jadeja's a test quality batsman of note, but for a guy who has made 3 triples, he's got such shitty temperament. I'm completely surprised at his inability to knock it around.

Even if they thought aggressive intent was the right strategy(and I think they were right), the way they went about it was completely wrong. Zaheer did better.

I think it's fair to say the batting should have done better no matter what the score. Our problem, batting wise seems to me is that they don't fire collectively.

Don't disagree that the batting was shite. I'd have blamed the batting for the loss if we'd batted first and been bundled out for the same score. You can't lose impetus in the first innings of the match like that.

I do actually think he's a bit stupid. Even Dhoni said something to this effect in the post match conference of the tied match.

Bowling has been unpredictable for a while now. It's the first inning batting collapse, after being in a fairly decent overnight position, that ultimately put the team in a hopeless position. Both the bowling and batting in the second innings were very good and finding faults in them isn't very fair.

Yeah, I'd go with that.

After the first 2 days we've done well to only lose by 40 runs and I hope we can take it forward. The batting talent is there and if 3 or 4 of them can fire together then we've always got a chance regardless of the bowling.

India's biggest problem was that McCullum's batting came off.

Other than that New Zealand are actually a decent side, Wagner, Southee and Boult are very handy players and with Anderson and Sodhi chipping in they've got a pretty threatening line up and in NZ conditions they'd be a handful for any side.

With their bowling lineup, I think they will be handy in all conditions. Their bowling looked very good even in India iirc.

I don't agree that once you have conceded 500, the batting collapse can be excused.

Overall, NZ got lucky here. The decision not to follow on was a howler. If either of Sharma or Rahne had seen off the new ball, we would have won I think. I am also disappointed that Ishant's batting has regressed. Couple of years back, he could be relied upon to stick around for 30 balls or so and seemed to have a good defensive technique. Now days he is a walking wicket.

Just seen the Dhoni dismissal, not sure how they gave that out after the replay.

Great game, swung back and forth but Kiwis just about deserved the win for me after McCullum and Williamson's stand.

NZ 96/6

Williamson should've been plumb and was dismissed twice, only too to be called twice by the Umpires for no ball. Ishant bowling beautifully.

Our tactics have been a bit strange. Dhoni and Jadeja are playing extra aggressively and it has worked tbf. Both of them went out to good bowls though and defensive shots.

Rahane is class.

He needs to be given as many games as it takes to let him bed into the ODI team in the middle order.

158 for 4 in our last 23 overs. Tremendous stuff.

McCullum averages 61 against India. There are a number of current generation batsmen who've made a career by stacking up runs against India.

Our bowlers are probably tired. Are we ever going to play 5 bowlers? Middle order is too bloated, just play the 3 most in form batsmen and play 5 bowlers (4 plus Jadeja/Ashwin).
