At work..

Took the day off yesterday, but didn't see any of the last session because the pitch was so tedious.
 
Onions should've played.

Good catch, but didn't hit the glove. :lol: BCCI doing well with not using DRS...

You would think they would learn from the Sydney test a few years ago.
 
Just put this on and saw Sachin walk in to bat. Awful to see him look a bit clueless against spin.

Anyway, this sucks.

I've watched pretty much every innings of every test match we've played over the last 4-5 years.

In particular, every test of the 8-0..

Seeing Raina with the ball after lunch at Lord's, when in the first session we had England reeling from Ishant's spell
Dhoni spreading the field at 130/7 with Broad/Swann at the crease
RP Singh
Amit Mishra/Harbhajan
Bresnan bowling Dravid with a jaffer
Anderson bowling Laxman
etc

Then the same pattern in Australia..
waking up at 5 in the morning to watch Dhoni spread the field to James Pattinson
Dravid bowled
Dravid bowled
Dravid bowled
All batsmen out to full length balls.. Hilfenhaus, Siddle, Pattinson, Harris, Starc all queuing up to take wickets
David Warner test cricketer
and so on.

But this one hurts the most. We've been a fantastic side at home. Flat pitches where 600 looked like the par score and day 4 tea time, never understood how it happened, but the matches always came to life. Spin bowling, silly point, short leg and all that.

Watching us get rolled over like this is just awful.
 
India will beat England. There is no doubt.

First time in a while I stayed up till late to watch test cricket. Might be the last time. This was heartbreaking.
 
Made it through the first session! Need to at least bat out the rest of the day.
 
England will be happy with this.

Slow RR, plus India regrouping pushes this more and more towards a draw - the right result for England, not so much for India.

Yeah, This pitch + how poorly we are playing means that we probably have no chance at a win, which is disappointing.

I still don't understand how our curators and captains just can't agree on how a pitch should be.
 
I think there are bigger issues for you guys than curators and pitches. Your spinners have been bettered by the English spinners - that is definitely a cause for concern.

The pitches haven't been great, but on balance, both teams have had good conditions to bat under, yet the English have so far come out ahead.

Absolutely. We have a lot of rebuilding to do. No need to be looking anywhere but within. We're just a very average test team right now with a lot of players who's form over the last year or so in test cricket is poor.
 
^Yeah I mean it's not the end of the world.

It's hard to remain a top test team for any length of duration - which is why that Australian team was so well respected.

India are in a bit of a flux atm(Losing players like Laxman & Dravid is not easy....Zaheer Khan was very, very good for a while, but it's clear, he's past it now), and you have a couple of players out of form, you add a lack of confidence to that mixture - and it usually spells defeat.
 
Oh I agree. I've actually said in this thread that England are just a better team than India right now. We will be in transition for a while. It just hurts to lose at home.
 
We don't look like taking a wicket here.

Could be setup very intriguingly by the end of the day.
 
Good fightback. Run rate is also improving now. If they can bat till 2nd session tomorrow, I think there is still decent chance of winning. With all the off field and on field issues considered, I think a draw would be a good result for India and a bad result for england.
I reckon it would be a draw though.
 
Not sure what the point of this lineup is.

Dhoni at 6 is not a viable option in test cricket, despite his runs here..
