India vs England

fishfingers, most of these quotes came without any prompting. They could very well have kept quiet and talked about the match they were playing in, but they came out with this rubbish.

Another instance not quoted in that article(it happened on the pitch) -- Warner sleding Kohli and Ishant in the Perth test.. Kohli/Ishant shoot back with "We'll see how you play when you come to India."

In the middle of a test they had still not lost..

Yeap. Small time stuff and looks even worse now after this debacle.

I stand corrected then. When I read the article, it appeared they had taken snippets out of interviews which were harmless. I haven't followed all cricket interviews as I've given up watching cricket.

it may not happen here...but the last time England beat India by an innings in India was in Delhi in 1976 when John Lever took 11 wickets.

About time you stopped coming to this thread.

good thing ashwin can bat or this match would have been over by now

I'll put my hand up and admit that I was horribly wrong assessing the Indian team before the series began. I wouldn't have imagined a humiliation of this proportion even in my worst nightmares. We need to go back to the drawing board and assess this ignominy as this is not acceptable. Some of the players in the team need to answer some serious questions.

Tough job being a selector under these circumstances. I don't think they can make any drastic changes 2-1 down in the series and another test starting in 5 days time. Yuvraj and Gambhir's position in the team needs to be looked at. I wonder what is the reason for Gambhir's fall, he had awesome technique and temperament when he started. Also, Sachin needs some serious introspection, this is not cutting it anymore.

This is depressing to say the least. More so that it is against England at home.

In the meantime I would keep supporting the English national football team. At least they consistently make the quarter finals of major tournaments and lose only on penalties.

The rest of us aren't quite as immature to take potshots at the English football team. I don't think england are all that in sub continental conditions as their battin against spin is still suspect, a few players discounted. Numbers five, six are still not established. Compton needs to face tougher tests.

What is clear though is that england are much better than we are. Particularly the bowling.

I think Bangladesh could play better than India.

zzzzzz

You lost a home series comprehensively to SA this year itself. Losing at home to better teams happen from time to time.

Only issue here for us is if we try to make any changes after this or not.

One former India International is a cousin of mine but have never met him in my life.

Sachin Tendulkar used to live in the building opposite mine.

Another current Indian international has visited my house few months after he made his debut.

True Stories.

Spot fixing? :smirk:

What would you do if you were a selector now?

Question open to anyone else who may want to answer.. KM?..
Sack and drop Dhoni as test captain.

Drop Yuvraj

Put Gambhir on notice.. may be bring Sehwag to middle order and open with Rahane.

Discuss retirement plans with Sachin.

Drop Ishant and tell him to get a solid domestic season under his belt.

Bowling issue can't be solved by selection alone

I used to work Sid Lowe's brother. True story. He's a massive red.

Still, you lead me in 'Knowing-a-celebrity' rating. Fair play.

Ashwin should take Yuvraj's place in the team, so free up a place for another bowler.

So what does this new team look like? Can you list it in batting order?

I don't know. I'll drop Sachin and retain Dhoni. But I dont' know any other wicketkeeper in India, so your word is better than mine.

Yeah. This Indian bowling attack is our worst for quite some time. Batting order mostly out of form. Was the best time to beat us at home for anyone.

England deserve credit ofcourse but they still have some issues to sort out themselves.

Really enjoying this cameo dual between Ashwin and Monty. Some very classy shots from Ashwin who is winning it right now.

I would keep Dhoni. Because we need a captain and haven't got anyone else who can do the job. I'd drop Dhoni if we had a settled top 6. I think he should be dropped but he is the last person on my list of players who would be dropped.

My top seven would be rahane, mukund, pujara, kohli, rohit, sehwag, Dhoni. Bowling is still an issue. I'd play Aaron on some A tours and see if he can do anything. Yadav will remain the main bowler. Id persist with ojha and Ashwin because we haven't gotten anything better in the spinner cabinet. Chappell thinks harmeet Singh is the dog's balls but I'd be wary of passing judgment based on u19.

Can't see where the next fast bowlers are going to come from unless bcci put in the right infrastructure.

Actualy I'd be drop Sehwag also and play Rayudu at number 6. I think he's a quality player who gets overlooked because he went over to the ipl. And he's played a couple of smashing innings for u19 in England. I think Sehwag is world class at home but his attitude is terrible when he is fielding. That affects the entire team. I think a top 6 of mukund, rahane, pujara, kohli, rohit and Rayudu would be very exciting. Good fielders too.
