There’s no manager who we know will be available who is stand out. Like when Guardiola or Klopp were available of course. Or when Everton managed to get Ancelotti which still blows my mind.
But of the managers available, if I took the effort to think about it, I think I could name at least 20 who I’d choose ahead of De Zerbi, Southgate or Potter

True, although both of those games were during that random 1 month spell under Van Gaal where we actually played exciting football for once.
I think Ole's wins over Pep were far more impressive than Van Gaal's wins over Pelligrini, considering his City side weren't close to winning the league during his second and third season.
In the event that we are changing manager then I think it's entirely plausible that the higher ups still hold the players to account and don't let them down tools. Or if they do, I expect that it will be noted and raised as an issue between themselves or the next manager. I do think there's every chance that they tell the next manager not to rely on 'x player' as they will be sold, if their performance and attitude is clearly as bad as you are claiming it would be. I just can't see it being tolerated at all anymore.
