If Real puts Kaka on sale, should we be interested?

Not exactly, I'm fairly sure he would have been happy to stay at Milan.

The thing is, if we got on him on the cheap (not sure he's even for sale) and SAF got him remotely close to his best, we'd have 2 or 3 years of a midfielder superior to all but Iniesta/Xavi/Sneijder on his day.

Infact, on his day, he can play like Iniesta and Xavi rolled into one. Sadly, his day hasn't been seen for a long time.

If we could loan him with an option to buy that would be the best situation for us.

See if he rediscovers his old magic when given a chance in a club that isn't a circus. If he does, buy him, if he doesn't let him go back and rot at Madrid.

He basically arrived injured at Madrid, and played for a couple of months before he had to stop. Got just fit enough to play in the WC and then discovered his knee was damaged - that basically cost him the whole of last season. An Owen Hargreaves of a transfer.

In pre-season he had one good game in the US and Madrid were optimistic, but the rest of his pre-season was poor.

The question is - does he just need playing time? Because that's a luxury Madrid can't give him, but could make him a great deal for the right club. My guess is that the injuries have cost him too much, in which case he's too expensive (which is what the Italian clubs seem to be saying at the moment) or only a loan option (which would be a great deal for United if we could pull it off)

Excellent midfielder who never wanted to leave Milan and move to Real and his career has gone downhill since the move.

I'd like us to take him on loan. Maybe, just maybe he would be happy here at OT.

Its arguable he was already going downhill - big injury problems in his last season at Milan, apprently stemming from a botched knee op in Brazil.

A couple more positive posts for Kaka and we'll be able to give the journos some new headlines for tomorrow. ;)

Sun and the Star, not to mention the Fail and the Mirror will love a bit of "Kaka in Shock Loan Move to United" followed two days later by "Kaka agrees deal with City".

Beleaguered Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is planning an audacious swoop for Brazilian ace Kaka.

The report indicates that Real Madrid are willing to let Kaka pursue a loan deal if the finances are right, and Arsenal have emerged as a shock candidate for his signature.

At the moment, any scenario which sees Arsenal moving for an expensive talent like Kaka seems like very fanciful stuff.

Given the current climate at Arsenal, doing a deal to land a former World Player of the Year is probably the only thing that will assuage the club's increasingly restless support.

If Arsenal could secure the services of Kaka, it would provide a tremendous lift during a particularly dark period.

With one point from two league games and a slender lead in the Champions League qualifier, Arsenal's hopes for real success this season already appear slim.

A player with the skill and quality of Kaka would automatically make the Gunners genuine contenders again. The Brazil star is the perfect attacking midfielder.

Kaka has excellent vision and is a thoughtful, cultured passer. His inclusion in the team would go a long way to replacing the creative output of Cesc Fabregas.

Kaka is also a real goal threat from midfield. A composed finisher, the Brazil star has the strength, quickness and ball skills to threaten an opposition defense consistently.

He would link up well with Robin van Persie and provide the isolated Dutchman with some much needed support.

Kaka possesses the ideal style to fit in with and improve Arsenal's game. Yesterday's defeat to Liverpool showed how much Arsenal need a spark and something extra.

One goal in three games does not bode well for the rest of the campaign. Adding Kaka would bring back the flair and invention Arsenal are known for.

It might also restore some confidence in a downtrodden Wenger.

Where is that from UnofficialDevil, but if true I will be glad to say I called it.

Yeah. I think its coming from the bookies lowering the odds, which has come from the flurry of bets.

Arsenal in search of playmaker -> Real with one to spare -> Fans bet on it -> Bookies lower odds -> Online News writes about it.

That said, if Arsenal are willing to pay his wages I do believe he'd do well for them and could be added to the age over 26 Premier League players thread

Probably yeah

Good move for the Arse... or desperate ploy by Wenger to hang on to his job (which he must see as slipping away from him even just a little bit

At 29 I think £22m would be a great buy, he's looked good this season. I doubt he's actually available for that though.

wages at Madrid would be around the 200k a week mark i'd say

not worth it for a 29 year old with no resale value

I don't believe Madrid will sell him anyway - he's looked good when he has played this season

At a lower salary? Sure.

At the salary he supposedly makes? Say hello to Spurs, Chelsea, or City.

I wouldn't, can't see where he'd fit in into the team and he'd be an expensive player to keep as back up for Rooney. If it was the Kaka in his milan form then you'd have to take him if you could, but right now he's not as good as he was and like I said I can't see where he'd fit and he doesn't seem to be playing well enough to justify us changing for him.

This transfer aside, who gives a feck about resale value. Look at the top 5 players we've sold during Fergie's time. Didn't get great money for Beckham or Ruud. Veron was let go cheaper than what we got him for. Ronaldo is the only one that we've sold for proper money.

Resale value shouldn't matter at all. Especially not for a fan who's not in charge of accounting for Manchester United Football Club.

He's worth about 9m now. Well past it and no signs of regaining his Milan form. It would be a massive waste for us, although I could see Chelsea, City, PSG, or Malaga taking a punt.

Have you seen him this season? He's looking very good again, in a lesser team he'd have really stood out.

I have yeah. Just don't think he would get many games with us at this point in his career, which at 22m seems like a steep temp fix for our midfield. I'd rather see that sort of money spent on Goetze or Erikkson.

He's not got the pace of old but he's still a very intelligent player.

Realistically, we could sign him and he could be our main man in midfield for 5 years. I'd say £22m is fair game for a player of his talent.

I love him as a player but his injuries are my concern and I wouldn't want us to be the team to nurse him back...

I mean, we also have Ando and Cleverly to look forward to not to mention Fletcher to me is more of a DM if we were to replace a player why not look for someone who will help bolster our defensive cover or a player who is more of an all rounder.

22m can get us a new Jones which I think is what we should be looking for now imo.

Still love Kaka' and I can still remember his plays that just destroyed us.

He's not bad, but then again he's more brand than substance these days. After all, its Kaka. I'd rather see that sort of money go on Erikkson or another youngster who would stay with us for 10 or more years.

If Marca are right, 200k is his pay after tax. I would think PSG are the most likely candidate.

It obviously does matter when it's a factor fergie takes into account when selecting targets

I can see how Madrid would want to offload his wages. 200k a week for Kaka circa 2006/07 would seem logical. 200k for today's Kaka is ridiculous.

Is it really a factor? Don't think SAF has ever bought someone with the intention of selling him. Our top 5 cash getters are Ronaldo, Beckham, Stam, Veron and Obi Mikel.
It's not a mentality to have when buying players. We're in the business of titles. Not just business.

Kaka is the face of FIFA. So is Rooney. How's that for advertisement?
