If Real puts Kaka on sale, should we be interested?

This transfer aside, who gives a feck about resale value. Look at the top 5 players we've sold during Fergie's time. Didn't get great money for Beckham or Ruud. Veron was let go cheaper than what we got him for. Ronaldo is the only one that we've sold for proper money.

Resale value shouldn't matter at all. Especially not for a fan who's not in charge of accounting for Manchester United Football Club.
Great or not we were desperate to sell and they still managed to generate decent transfer fees. If we bought Kaka...he'd be at the back end of his career and more than likely be sold on a free in a few years time. £22m would be a massive waste of cash without factoring his wages and age. I agree with Raoul, I'd rather spunk that type of cash on young talent. Resale value is important for a club like United...we're not lucky enough to be bankrolled by a Russian oligarch or an oil rich sheikh. But if he were to come on the cheap...then yes, of course - but I doubt he'd take a pay cut and I'd even more surprised if Real sold him on the cheap.

Reckon he'd do well for PSG. Would be more than adequate backup for Pastore in that position

If we are truly looking towards our youth for the future of midfield then Kaka would be a good signing (I realize this sounds ridiculous). It's clear that Pogba, Morrison (and to an extent even Cleverley and Anderson) are still several years away from becoming established first-team players so Kaka at 29 years old is a part "stop-gap," part quality signing that will give our youngsters the time to bed in as well as bolster our midfield options. In several years Kaka will be in his 30s and that would be the perfect time for our youngsters to establish themselves permanently in the first team. Ultimately, although he has been far from brilliant at Madrid, Kaka is still an exceptional footballer (form is temporary, class is permanent, unless your name is Fernando Torres) and would more than likely add to our midfield. Plus, £22 million is not expensive these days when every top young midfielder is going for £40+ million. However this would only be a good deal if his wages were massively cut - £200k/week is out of this world.

Would LOVE him at United. Think if he could avoid injury, then Fergie would mould him back into his past brilliance.

Only two years ago he was a muppet wet dream, that doesn't disappear, and he is exactly the kind of creative player we need.

If he leaves Real, he'll go back to Milan, but I think he'd be a great signing for us. I wonder if that City fan's still got that Kaka tat on his back?

I would take Kaka on loan but never would waste 22M on a guy entering the twilight of his career with injury problems. That 22M can be applied elsewhere.

I have no problem spending 22M on Kaka if he's healthy. He's a finesse player, I can see him doing a Giggs and moving into central midfield and being quality into his mid 30s. If we get 5 seasons out of him that fee sounds okay to me.

As long as he's willing to take a substantial salary decrease of course, I'm not sure he would deserve to be joint top earner at the club.

Milan is probably more likely.

Anyhow, 22m is a bit too much for a player that peaked a few years ago and is a injury liability these days. He'd probably end up another glass guinea pig in the Premiership.

That's the issue. I can't think of a Tottenham player who is on more than 40 grand a week, so to chuck in Kaka on that much would really mix things up.

'Arry should offer Modric a new contract (to keep him happy), exactly the same length with a 50 million buy out clause and double his wages for the next 6 months. Get Tottenham back to the Champions League, buy Dembele and Demba Ba in the summer, probably along with Gibson.

There or there abouts. Don't say Adebayor as he is a loanee

Who knows what footballers really get paid, but I think nearly the whole squad are on less than 70,000 as that was the problem with Parkers wages.

But I'm probably 20,000 out when I said 40,000

I bet VDV is on more than 40k a week. Plus this reputation Spurs have for keeping a lid on wages is largely bollocks, I remember Hoddle saying that the club is very generous when it comes to bonuses for appearances, goals and other achievements.

The link pointed me to Bale signs a new contract.

Don't believe VdV, Modric, Gallas, Defoe, Bale and Parker aren't on more than 40k per week.

Yeah I don't know why I said 40k. I was speaking to my uncle earlier and he kept saying that 40k was about the money footballers are on so it kinda just slipped out.

Need to have a proper look at their finances, but you're probably right about bonuses, especially if they make the Champions League. I think all teams have masses bonuses and wage drops if a team gets knocked out of the Champions League or Relegated etc.

Who would the highest earners be? VDV and Modric are probably on 100k, Bale on 70k, the rest of the squad will be on 50k.

Fixed, and yeah I agree. Not Kaka money though. Do you remember when the average top player was on 40k? Those where the days; simpler times.

Less than 10 years ago. Before all the tax laws and what not. Owners and their football games.

Given his age and unreliability in Spain you would be having the same conversation you are now about the future of your central midfield in 18 months time, not exactly optimum.

Exactly. At 22mil, its too big a gamble on someone who isnt even fit most of the time. That amount of money can be much better spent than on a fantastic footballer past his prime.

I would prefer someone younger for that price, but for a slightly lower price I think Kaka could do a job for us. We could convert him into a deep lying playmaker the way Scholes was converted.

Your money would be spent much better elsewhere imo.

His influence on Morrison and Cleverley could be immense. It'd have to be a lower price than £22,000,000, or a loan spell for me. Absolute magic when he's on song though.

Indeed, I saw murmourings earlier in the week that Villas-Boas wants Higuain, since when can anybody just turn up at Real Madrid and prize their players away? I recall a few weeks ago the press was talking about Khedira in the same fashion.

No doubt Pepe is the cure for all of our defensive problems.

Yeah there's not a chance Madrid would let Higuain go when their only alternative up front then is Benzema, especially considering that Mourinho asked for another striker in the summer but didn't get one.

Madrid won't be letting anyone go between now and the end of the season. This is a huge season for them.

Nope they have far too many options for the middle plus why would they when he is doing brilliantly for them this season on the wings.

Does Di Maria ever play through the middle for them?

Di Maria played (sort of) behind Benzema, with Ronaldo and Callejon wide against Sevilla. It was their "getting over the clasico" game and Ozil was in the doghouse. Kaka stayed on the bench, with Callejon effectively chosen over him.

I don't think Kaka's for sale, not at the start of January at least. Madrid's got a lot of games to play, 8 in January (including two against Barcelona) if the Copa goes OK.

Brazilian legend Kaka is ready to leave Real Madrid this summer and is open to a move to the Premier League, according to Sao Paulo president Paulo de Jesus Lopes.

The former AC Milan star has often been linked with a move to England during a glittering career, with Manchester City closest to securing an astonishing £100 million deal back in 2009.

Instead, the 30-year-old attacking midfielder moved to the Santiago Bernabeu, and picked up his first La Liga title last season with a renewed influence for Jose Mourinho’s side.

After three years with Los Blancos his time in the Spanish capital could be up however, with Lopes claiming that Sao Paulo can’t afford their former starlet, but that he’s happy to either stay in Spain or move to England.

"Kaka has decided to quit Madrid," he told O Globo in Brazil.

"He believes that England or remaining in Spain would be two interesting destinations for him. Sao Paulo can't afford him as his price-tag is astronomical and out of the reality of Brazilian football."

TalkSPORT claims that Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City could all renew their interest if the claims are revealed to be true, and Kaka would add an extra dimension to any Premier League side if he were to move in the summer transfer window.

If he does go to City, then that fan who got his tattoo two to three years ago at least will be happy.

Really hope he comes to the PL purely because he's my favourite ever player. Milan Kaka was pure brilliance.
