If Real offered us Bale in a straight swap for De Gea would you take it ?

Question is, would Bale win us more games than DDG would save us? Under LvG I'd have said no, but this year under José I feel DDG's ability hasn't been called into action as much because we are a lot better at defending. So on this basis, I'd say yes.

Well according to reports, Madrid don't want to spend more than £50m on De Gea and Bale will cost more than £100m. For those prices, I wouldn't want that at all.

Yes, having one of the worlds best players is more helpful for success than having one of the worlds best keepers imo.

Not that swaps ever happen though.

Bale is the exact player we've been lacking since van Persie. Injuries is the question mark.

Bale is a top player, a difference maker, he is easily among the best 10 players in the world but his injury record is worrying. I would still gamble on Bale though.

Not another sicknote...

Ronaldo on the other hand...

It's high time we stop thinking of Madrid players as options. Any other club is a step down for them and I'd rather not be that club, thank you very much.

With respect to Real, our earlier strategy of developing young players and then selling them to Real was mutually beneficial. Examples being Beckham, Ronaldo and maybe de Gea. We should stick to that strategy and find our own players, not heartbroken Madrid rejects who think they are settling for less while coming here.

Agreed

We should try to buy Isco. Has his contract situation been resolved? He was being offered €6m per year. Doesn't Lingard earn more than that?

That's after tax. Going to be around £200k a week. Little over that

I couldn't find his before tax figures, but I accept what you say. It seems Coty, Liverpool and Barca had been monitoring his situation, but now Isco has said he wants to sign the extension and stay at RM.

That's my point! They always want to stay. It's Real who sell them and we are the rebound.

In a more prosperous situation I would accept the risk. But not when we are still in a rebuilding mode. Stay away from Real players.

I agree with you. Anyone we really want, they won't sell. But I think De Gea will be their player by the end of the window, the signs are all there. So either we sell De Gea outright for cash (which we don't need), or we try to get a player from them in exchange. The issue is, they want De Gea in exchange for either Morata or jHames, neither which is outstanding. So we need to stick to our guns and keep De Gea, or if we will accept that it's inevitable to lose De Gea, let's get a valuable player out of it.

In theory I think this is right, but watching the final yesterday I did feel like De Gea really might have gotten a hand to Mandzukic's brilliant strike or to Casemiro's deflection, so who knows.

I probably would given that DDG is going to end up there sooner or later. But I'd want Butland in his place

No thanks, he's a crock in a pretty weak league outside the top 4(ish). Don't think the increased physicality of the Prem would help that situation

Maybe they need some cash to help fund Mbappe. I'd offer them £50mil, you never know.

2 or 3 years ago maybe, but Dave's matured into a great goalie.

Also, while Bale is good too (and would slot straight into United/the Prem), he's almost 28? For a player where a lot of his game relies on pace, maybe a few years left and no/little resale value. Dave's got 10 years easy left.

Finally, it's Madrid so they can feck off.

Easier to get a good goalie than a good winger these days. So yes.

Injury prone 27 year old winger on 500k\week wages who is hugely dependant on his pace for the best GK in the world aged 26?

No thanks.

Bale Morata and James for DDG???

Yea ok but we want a buy back clause in Dave's contract... for say 10M

Wow.
Never go into Business.
explain? DDG will be playing at Real either if we get money for him or his contract runs down... Butland is the best keeper in the PL who could be prised away from his club. PS Never go into PR

Bale of 2013? Probably

Bale of today? Probably not

Bale of 2013 ? Absolutely.
Bale of today? Probably.

I'd love Bale in the PL although he had many setbacks with injuries. But if he can get through them, I think we could win the Premier league next year.

But for sure, this swap is not going to happen.
