ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Would be nice if Afghanistan could cause an upset but I’ll go with India, Aussies, Windies & England to get through.

SL showing up on the last game with zero stakes involved.

Feck off

Despite the win, that was very shameful by the Aussies to be honest

So very blatant attempts to sandbag and it was only Scotland's absolute incompetency that ended up swaying it back.

Seriously, that performance makes me really sick.

Don't be silly.

The idea that Australia would risk criminal charges for match fixing, to throw a game to troll England, is ludicrous.

Not the first time they've done it, it's not criminal.

Ponting and Clarke literally purposefully lost against SL once to knock India out because, and I quote, "India are the stronger side who we don't want to meet later on."

Reading the Pakistani forums, India forums, everyone was like WTF watching this game.

Well, they ended up winning the match, so the point is moot.

Throwing a game is match fixing which is a criminal offence, and would have to involve the whole team. Zero chance - utter bullshit.

And where did you get that quote from? The same cricket forums where you got this latest fantasy? Google can't find it and even if some version of that was said no way will the context be that they threw a game.

I don't know why you are so against this idea of teams purposefully sandbagging. It happens a lot in cricket. It's also impossible to prove.

Ricky Ponting was even exasperated during the commentary, "Look at the body language of the Australian players. This is very bizarre, they look like they're not even trying."

I don't know why you, who didn't even watch the match, are so insistent on it being "impossible" and "bullshit", when everyone who watched the game live were utterly perplexed, including Aussie commentators.

Let's say what you say is true, and that Aussies actually tried their best to win.

Explain:

Record number of dropped catches, 4 of which were down the throat dollies
Having their best performing fast bowler...not bowl.
spinners bowling absolute pies.
slow jogs between the wickets

What, the Aussies just had an awful day across the board, by sheer coincidence? Captain forgot that Stoinis existed?

I don't think what the Aussies did was match fixing per se, although I do agree that they were not giving 100%. You see this all the time in professional sports. When you are a top athlete, a lot of what goes on is mental. The best of the best are hyped to win. It's part of what makes them the best. In a game that doesn't matter that "fire" is missing. I don't even think the athlete means for it to happen. Look at the NBA finals as an example, the Celtics were up 3-0. No team has ever come back from that deficit, so their heads were not in the game and they end up losing by 40. I don't think they meant to play as badly as they did, but when that "fire" is missing it's tough to give it your all.

I'm just glad the Aussies were able to pull it out in the end.

Lads, they’re using a snicko in the Euros for handball

Not watching, but looking at the scores, was it applied against Lukaku?

Different player in the build up.

Is the ball mic'd up? In cricket the noise comes through the stump mic.

Stonis was rested from bowling as he was carrying a niggle. Cummins was rested altogether. A meaningless game to Australia anyway so hard to get very motivated. And they won. And could easily have lost at the end but won.

So it is utter nonsense.

"Motivated." Exactly. In a nutshell.

....and they still won.

Felt sad that Pooran didn't get his century but that was one hell of a show

England play the West Indies on the same pitch in 2 days and I am struggling to see how England win that game. West Indies are genuinely the worst match up for England in this tournament. Team who bat deep with multiple power hitters and then has two good left arm spinners one of whom bowls with the new ball.

Woah. Missed it, but valiant effort from US.

QDK back in the runs after a dismal patch.

Damn! The Windies have just been aSalted.

I'll get me coat.....

England and Australia are the only two teams left that can bat you out of a game.

The others too reliant on both their batting and bowling to have a good day to win a game.
