ICC T20 World Cup 2021

9(17) was just as bad as Simmons' knock vs SA.

Awful.

Yeah Kohli is going to get some awful stick motivated by his comments this week but that is a terrible performance and why he shouldn’t be batting at 4 anyway.

What is pandya and pant 's approach here? Shocking performance here. Namibia would have shown better intent than this.

One characteristic of Indian batting is the amount of time taken to start being aggressive again after the fall of a wicket. It's simply too long. You don't have the luxury to stabilize after a wicket in this format, but here we are, letting bowlers get away with 2/3 run overs because we're too afraid to lose another wicket. Has nothing to do with ability, and everything to do with intent and leadership.
Sums up the Kohli era. Lack of intent is just shocking.
I don’t know whether India is worse or Australia. 4.5 runs an over in a T20. Absurd

But that's exactly how and why we are here no? Trying to continue hitting? If the pitch is not right, shouldn't we try to change our approach?

Playing 5 dot balls and then trying to hit is not attacking intent. That's just putting pressure on yourself. Look at how buttler and roy play. Problem is India prefer to be 25 or 30-1 in 6 overs than be 60-3 from 6 overs.

Jadeja should have come in ahead of Pandya. The lad is a waste at this point of the game

Gotcha. Agreed.

NZ bowling has been disciplined, but not been impressed by India’s batting approach. Similar to Australia yesterday, they’re lacking any urgency.

Simmo has inspired a few innings since his standout performance

Need better management and a better captain. Our academies are littered with fearless, clean hitters, and yet we play with our tails between our legs when starting innings in limited overs cricket.

Edit: He's out, and that's our tournament. Need an inquest after this, heads need to roll. Shocking, cowardly, insipid.

The IPL is an audition for the test team. KL Rahul pathetic approach at the top for Punjab got him a shot at the test job. The wrong players are being rewarded for being selfish

The plan here is the same “plan” that Finch justified post match against England. Lost few wickets early. Needed to stabilise inning. Blah blah. You’re missing the point of the format if that’s how you go about shit. 110 and 80 gives you about the same chance of winning the match. You either go for 150 or feck off.

The thing is, India have always been shit at t20s. They got carried by peak Kohli in 2012 and 2016 but ever since the inception of the tournament they've struggled at the top. What's pathetic is that they've never learned.

Rohit has opened now in 3 different World T20s and done feck all. Ajinkya Rahane's approach fecked them in the last one. Yet they've gone the same way. Experience means nothing if all that experience knows is how to fail.

Are these pitches significantly different to the ones they used in the IPL?! I’m amazed how much India have struggled.

Exactly. This is why I said we prefer to be 25-1 from 6 overs than 60-3 from 6. Too safe.

India have played poor cricket and some of the players we have are massively overhyped.

NZ should win comfortably & this is a good chance to improve their NRR.

This has been coming... Ridiculously dysfunctional team with most players bang out of form.

For a neutral, this isn't even fun in all honesty.

Can't be bothered to watch NZ chase this

Not all his fault. Instead of providing with him a strong character as coach/manager, BCCI bent over and appointed yes men
Maybe that's what he always wanted. Ashwin challenged shastri and has been dropped. Kohli the batsmen will always remain one of my favorites but Kohli the captain is overrated. Not a coincidence he has also failed to win one IPL trophy.

Didn't he get Kumble sacked for Shastri?
You're both correct. And that's exactly what shouldn't have happened - BCCI shouldn't have allowed it
