ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Do Pakistan even have any big hitters? They've probably hit the fewest sixes this tournament.

That should be that, hasn't happened for Babar yet - poor dismissal that.

In a chase like this, you have to get ahead of the run rate early. And Pakistan just don't do that

Nah, I don't think so. Keeping the rate at 8-9 is very doable when there are 10 overs left with wickets in hand. Pakistan will be hoping to get to 270-275 by the 40th and they're well in this.

You'd take 200-3 wouldn't you chasing this. Just Pakistan line up isnt deep.

This is very do-able..

but a couple of wickets and it changes completely.. still a long way to go.

Pak wouldve taken this after the start Aus got off to

The main cameraman in this match is fecking shite. Half the time you don't even see the ball until it has been fielded or hit the rope.

Someone mentioned earlier that Pakistan can't play mystery spin.

It appears that can't play any spin

Game over. Both RIzwan and Babar could have played a part but looks like once again pressure got the better of them.

I get your point that these two should try to stay till the end but you also have to question other batters. Can't always expect Rizwan to stay till the end. Others like Ifthikar and Saud should do better.

A bit like the World cup so far...some good cricket, but then not much else.

Very valid point.

Pakistan clearly done no research. Pacers can be smashed at will here at this ground, should have seen off Zampa if they couldn't play him.

Not possible when you are chasing around 100 with just 12 overs to go, the openers screwed pak, this is why i love what rohit's been doing, you can't have openers scoring at run a ball for 20 overs when you are chasing 360+.

To be fair, Rohit only became what he is now after making similar mistakes at previous WC. It's a process I guess.

There have been 10 successful 350+ chases in ODI cricket.

Pakistan's RRR for the last 30 overs would've been the 5th highest in a successful 350+ run chase. So they probably did enough in the Powerplay tbf.

A bit like the World cup so far...some good cricket, but then not much else.

What do you think the reason for this is?

It's not that the toss favours a team, or dew has been messing things up, or the pitches(we've had low/slow/flat all sorts).. but one team seems to consistently thump the other..

Been a boring WC

Is Babar Azam actually that good or really over rated?

outside of World Cup I don’t follow much of Pakistan cricket and he is hyped up at every World Cup, and he very rarely does something notable. And his captaincy is consistently horrid.

I would say he is a very good player but no way a Kohli or even Rohit. He is 29 and these are the tournaments you have to elevate yourself to be competing with the very best.

Sounds like we are dropping Woakes (not sure), Curran (thank god), and Livingstone (I'd have given another game).

Stokes (wooo), Atkinson (deserves a go) and Willey (FFS) come in.
