ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

NZ to lose to India in the final at this rate
Too early to call. India hasn't been exposed yet this tournament and the batting has peaked early. Only time will tell of they peaked too early. It's the same team that wasn't settled only a couple of months before this tournament and weren't considered the favourites.

All teams have played only 3 out of 9 games so basically round one of 3 is done. The round 2 will be dominated by another side and people will be calling them the favourites before they change their favourites again at the end pf round 3.

T20WC 22, 21, WC19, CT17 all won by teams who easily could've been eliminated in the groups. Those are all the tournaments in the last 5-6 years I think.

T20 has a lot more variance by definition.

Can't say the first paragraph is factual in anyway, there was actually a lot of stability in the Indian squad in the months leading up to the world cup, the first XI is the same first XI they had in the Asia Cup and series against Aus. Name one player who was a surprise inclusion. In terms of peaking early, India were 2 for 3 after 2 overs against Aus, how is that representative of a team who has peaked from a batting perspective?

I agree with the second paragraph.

Read my post again. Both within a couple of months before the wc, not before that.

What a comedy of errors there

Why aren't Bangladesh going for it? Their strike rate in the last ten overs has been crap.

Right on cue, they start smashing it for boundaries

Pandya's injury if serious would be a huge blow to India. Also, confirming what a mediocre bowler shardul is.

Can't say I was too appreciative of Kohli doing what he just did, really unprofessional and stupid when NRR is relevant in this situation.

That's incredibly small time but I guess it won't matter in the history books.

I'll be honest, I don't think its a big deal at all. A little funny. That said, our NRR is good enough and won't be impacted by letting a ball or two go. We've won every game convincingly.

Come on, that was a subpar total on a complete road. Jadeja was the worthy MOTM.

What did Kohli do? I just saw him not take a single and hit it for a 6 the next ball.. was that it or was there more?

edit: read the cricinfo commentary.. looks like he turned down a few singles in the last couple of overs.. but India also scored 30 off those 19 balls.. so hardly hurting the NRR ..

Good for him. the match was won anyway..

People need to chill out. It’s a home World Cup in a packed stadium, India were cantering and everyone in the crowd wanted to see one of the greats score a century. Those few extra balls won’t make a difference to India’s final standing in the table.

He spent the last 2 overs playing for his century.

Exactly. He hardly slowed down the innings. Peope like to make a big deal of everything.

I've just seen the Clip of the umpire not giving a blatant wide so Kohli can get the ton??

What on earth?
