ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

You are bringing up India. Is this how you enjoy your moment?
Because most of the posters who are belittling England's win are India fans.

I think @Moby and @KM are the only ones that haven't .

eh - imagine being a NZ fan and you lost because Ben Stokes stuck his bat out and pushed it for a 4..

I'm a Untied fan and saw Liverpool nearly luck their way to the PL and luck their way to CL after a bottlejob by Barcelona. Feck off with this "imagine how you would feel" bullshit. England won. NZ were excellent too. Its sport. Its fine margins.

Still, credit to England for how they have changed their attuide to ODI cricket over the last few years. This is what happens, if you don't look down your nose at it.

I'm an England fan, and probably in a minority of one right now. But it really turns me off when I see archer playing for England. The lad was born and bread in the West Inidies. That's where he learnt his cricket skills, yet here he is winning the world Cup for England.

You gotta be a certain kind of person, where England win a world cup in something, but you need to make note about how one of the players isn't English enough for you. Strange.

This has been a long term project with a lot of planning behind it, England deserve all the plaudits.

Anyway Congrats England. Their 3 match run against India, NZ and OZ was great. Got lucky when batting today but it is what it is. Fair play to NZ, on paper they look like 5th or 6th best team in the world but they deserved to win the WC in the end. This one will hurt them for a very long time. Has to overtake that SA semi loss as most heartbreaking one. If this had happened to India, I would be suicidal right now.

Anyway, too much cricket fatigue now. Gonna take a break from it for few months.

Its a tie in every sense except boundaries scored. Its not belittling to suggest maybe NZ deserved to atleast share as well.

what a random, bizarre post :wenger:

Pretty much this. Fair play to the posters you've mentioned but it's hilarious seeing the others act dumb as if we're calling out India for no reason.

What a final. Amazing! Love this game and love cricket.

About the super over, it's so harsh on NZ because technically both teams still tied. One thing I was thinking about was that the team batting second will most likely have the advantage in terms of boundaries because they are chasing and will have to hit boundaries in the end.

Anyways, don't like the boundaries rule and would prefer another super one but hell I won't complain. England won and it was a fabulous tournament.

It wasnt boundries because the commentators said England would win if nz scored 15. I know thats the rule, but they said it would be an england win before nz even started batting.

But who cares england won

Boundaries during the 50 overs was how it was decided - shite as that is.

Yes, I think so. But the ECB changed the rules and fastracked him to make sure he could play in the World Cup. It's not unsual for England though, we've always taken overseas players. I think it weakens world cricket when we do it.

I don't know, he has a British passport so he's British by law. If it was a residency only thing like Costa in football for Spain then fair enough but I don't think you can tell a British citizen that he isn't English if that is what he wants to be.

England beat India NZ Australia NZ in four consecutive matches. They deserve to win the WC.

Although the last two overs were the jammiest I've ever seen. That deflected boundary ffs.

Not strange at all. A lad who learnt how to play cricket in the West Inidies system, has just helped England win. How much credit should I give them for that super over?

He's correct. The 50 over boundaries are included.

Your post about "imagine how you would feel". I made an analogy that I've been watching my rivals getting fluke wins after some very dodgy decisions. I know exactly what its like to be on the losing side. I've seen United come close to finals and lose at the final hurdle. Its sports - these things happen. I have sympathy for NZ but these posts saying they were robbed is just absolute nonsense.

Ben Stokes is going to be at the heart of a low budget, cheesy sports flik beginning with getting tonked for 6s to start, night club fight as a middle arc, and then redemption of the World Cup final.

He's representing England under the ICC rules that apply to everyone. That's all there is to it.
