ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Terrible shot choice. This is looking good. :nervous:

Oz team in 99 was good but in bad form. Their Openers - Waugh and Gilchrist were in bad form similar to NZ's. IIRC they were rescued multiple times by Steve and Bevan with Moody also doing welll in some games. Shane Warne pretty much won them the semis and finals though or at least have them a major opening in both games.
Exactly how I remember it. South Africa, Pakistan had better rounded, in form teams. Warne was devastating in SF and Finals

Takes ages to prepare the data for Hawkeye, if you were doing it for every shout (which you'd have to) the game would take forever.

I think the review system generally works quite well, especially now you don't lose reviews for umpires call, but I'd be open to them trialling two reviews. Both the situations in this game and in the semi have at least partially been caused by the players making as bad decisions as the umpires.

I’d rather an extra 30 seconds than wrong decisions. I’m not saying it has to be on the big screen every time. Maybe trial it in tests where the time in between deliveries is bigger.

I'm not sure. What exactly is the tech better at and by how much, is the question that is relevant, surely?

It’s better at accurately picking up sounds, and where it comes from. It’s much better at assessing where the ball is going in an LBW situation, as we’ve seen in this match.

Sounds I agree with. It gets dodgy on the predictive stuff about where the ball is going after hitting a pad.

You've got to be kidding. England dominating proceedings here by a margin. If NZ don't pull a rabbit out of the hat here, Roy will finish the 2nd innings in 30 overs himself.

NZ will be relying on a bowling performance similar to Vs India.

1996 finals one sided
1999 finals one sided
2003, 2007, 2015 all one sided. 2011 was competitive

Cricket has a crap track record in wc finals

Gosh, how did New Zealand make this final? England should win this at a canter.

I think NZ will be very pleased to be 200 up with 5 wickets spare and 5 overs to open their shoulders. They’re a good fielding side who will put up a solid defence.

I think it's about as likely that England will chase these in 30 overs as it is that NZ will skittle us.

Considering he's made of glass it's a minor miracle that Wood's gotten injured after he's bowled his full allocation in the final.

With a score of 250 you have to attack and take wickets, not defend.

Semantics. I’d say taking wickets is a good way of defending your lead. My point is that they’re capable with the ball and it’s by no means over yet.

De Grandhomme had a tough time of it. Bullied.
