ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

I think 250-260 Aussies would have made a match out of it, i expect some jolts early on but this score is manageable .Still won't be easy though.

We should win yeah.

It's just the bloody Aussies.

It's like playing Germany in football, years of mental scars have done damage on my confidence.

England should easily be able to manage this chase. We did well to recover to some extent, but not enough runs in the end.

I’d have bitten your hand off for this at the start of the day but the Aussie bowlers aren’t mugs and I can never shake the feeling that we’ll lose some brainless wickets.

i'm a NZ Supporter so come on England. really don't want to see Australia in the final. NZ v Eng would be a far better match.

I just put some money on Aus.. so come on Aus I guess.. Highly unlikely though

I’m not sure that’s true. The technology is always going to be more accurate than the human. I think the idea was to keep an amount of authority with the on field.

Yeah, but it's because it's a margin of error issue. We are not 100% certain in those situations that it would have been out so there's enough doubt to go with the umpire's initial decision.

It's pointless having a decision review system that introduces errors. If it was 100% we'd over rule the umpire as we do constantly with stumpings, runouts, no balls, snicks etc...

A comparable situation is with the 'soft signals' on catches close to the ground. It got added because the footage was rarely conclusive, and umpires were being overruled on very tenuous grounds.

Bairstow's had his problems but he's in good nick now. Hopefully he's key here.

Apart from that possible lb :nervous:

Yeah.. England are through.. They look fine against the new ball.. No danger after that

Good start by england. It should get easier from here. As long as they don’t do anything stupid, they’ll be in the final.

Bairstow and Roy are wonderful openers. A treat to watch when in full flow. Looking back from Indian perspective, losing Dhawan turned out to be a huge blow for India.

That Jason Roy six was a ridiculous shot.

Roy is England's best ODI batsman. Yes the others pile on more centuries but the platform he sets is invaluable. Puts bowlers on the backfoot and puts England well on top.

He's crucial.

I do think though that if we'd had Hales available as the reserve opener we wouldn't have missed Roy as much as we did earlier on in the World Cup.

Going from Roy to Vince was like going from Vidic and Rio to Jones and Smalling.

Interesting listening to BBC talking about Bayliss saying Roy has a chance at being selected for first time for Test team.

There’s a huge gulf in class between our first choice openers and our non drug addict second string. Bairstow is noticeably better playing alongside Roy than vince too, maybe less pressure knowing it’s not all on him.

Roy doesn't look like a guy who will have a successful test career.

Roy of the Rovers stuff this from Jason.

*I'll get my coat.

Who are England's test openers?

Rory Burns & Keaton Jennings I’d think, I’d guess Jennings’ place would be most under threat of the 2 but think he had a decent tour before Christmas in Sri Lanka.

Maybe at 6, but I don't see him as an opener in the slightest. Barely done it for his county (and probably wouldn't even get in to their side at the minute, Surrey are stacked for openers), vulnerable to the ball swinging in and just generally looks too loose to me.
