If we start the batting tomorrow on a sunny dried out pitch, we should be chasing 250 comfortably. Especially given how deep our batting goes.
No sun tomorrow. Overcast all week.

Would rather have both teams completing 50 tomorrow than some rain curtailed 20 over joke of a chase
20 overs. If this cannot be done, they have a reserve day and even if that's washed out, then super over.
Erm no. It's highest group stage rank.
13.6.4 If the reserve day is allocated, every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day with any necessary reduction in overs taking place and only if the minimum number of overs necessary to constitute a match cannot be bowled on the scheduled day will the match be completed on the reserve day.
13.6.5 If the match has started on the scheduled day and overs are subsequently reduced following an interruption, but no further play is possible, the match will resume on the reserve day at the point where the last ball was played. Refer Appendix F.
13.6.6 If a Super Over is required and the weather prevents it from being played on the scheduled day, it will take place on the reserve day.
Group rank applies only if super over is not washed out too.
India's 20-over score would be 148What would be the target for a 20 over chase?
India's 20-over score would be 148
India's 20-over score would be 148
They are scoring at over 9 for the last 6 overs..India should score 148 off 120 balls? That way harsher than NZs current NRR.

Thought it would be less than 7 rpoIndia should score 148 off 120 balls? That way harsher than NZs current NRR.
Not true. Plenty of teams batting first have been screwed by DL too.DL has always been harsh on sides chasing.

Rain is getting heavier in the ground so basically either it stops and we lose some overs for some overs today or resume tomorrow as is.
NZ best chance us actually not having to bat again. Target will then be 237 off 46 overs. That's their best bet to defend a total on this pitch.
Any delay after 2 hours will lead to over reduction if Umpires inspect the ground and deem it ok to restart at some point today. Think last such inspection can take place around 6 UK time given the extension of 2 hours for today's play. So basically within next 3.5 hours. We need a total washout for play to resume tomorrow, if we lose like 3-4 hours they'll play a reduced game which will feck us over.
The idea is, if you have 20 overs and 10 wickets in hand, you have a huge advantage. 7.4/over isnt exactly difficult.
Get a feeling this is where we'd miss Dhawan.

In case New Zealand doesn't bat again, India's target in
46 overs will be 237
40 overs will be 223
35 overs will be 209
30 overs will be 192
25 overs will be 172
20 overs will be 148
India must be praying that it keeps raining today because this is a joke, Potential target of scoring at 7 an over when NZ are going at 5.In case New Zealand doesn't bat again, India's target in

Revised targets look pathetic. Surely it’s should be what the opposition were after the same amount of overs

Eh? Not sure why chasing team wouldn't have 10 wickets in hand if they haven't faced a ball.they are at an advantage because a) they know what they need to score to win and more importantly b) they have 10 wickets in hand. 10 wickets in hand in reduced overs is a huge advantage to the chasing team.
that gives way too much of an advantage to the chasing team.
I’m just being biased, there definitely does need to be a middle ground thoughThat would be beyond stupid.

Scoring at 7 with 10 wickets in hand vs 5 an over with 10 wickets in hand.

Yeap. 40 over game would be ridiculously bad for us.All in favour of NZ except the 20 over one I'd think.
Hopefully it rains the whole day.
What's the cutoff before which we call the day off?
i'm saying they do have 10 wickets in hand. with less overs and a reduced target to chase.
having 10 wickets in hand in 30 overs is a massive advantage over 10 wickets in 50 overs, hence the run rate required is weighted in favour of the side batting first.
Especially when an economic bowler is bowling 3 of the last 5 overs.India must be praying that it keeps raining today because this is a joke, Potential target of scoring at 7 an over when NZ are going at 5.
