ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

England fielding has been poor this World Cup, cost them vs Pakistan and probably will cost them again this World Cup (obviously not today)

It's going to be 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 at SF right?

If that's the case then hard to see India England SF.

England had 106 after 20 overs today . Afghanistan have no death bowling but 291 in 30 overs is pretty incredible. Craziest thing is that just like the 482 day it came with no contribution from Buttler

Aerial camera shows the trains outside the stadium

Manjrekar: Those trains are quite similar to the ones in Kolkata with their tracks on normal roads with other vehicles

Hussain: What (the feck) are you on about Sanjay?

God I hate Sanju Manju.

I think we'll win this match.

Manjrekar wondering why Bairstow is amongst the players with most distance covered today when he hasn't bowled a single ball.

I suspect we will see a lot of changes happening after the World Cup e.g. I can't see the two new balls remaining.

Yea the two new balls have killed reverse swing and have death overs completely one side towards batsman. The new white balls barely swing in the early stages as well.

It's not as dead as you're claiming it to be. India vs Australia was a great game and I expect when Aus/Ind/Eng/NZ all face, we'll see some cracking matches. As I've said before, (bar maybe Bangladesh) the rest of the teams are pathetic right now.

I'd say it's a smaller version of the PL top 6 - where the top 4 of the WC are Liverpool/City.

Yea one of those pathetic teams beat England and took Australia to the edge. West Indies also gave their match say versus Australia. Their matches were less one sided that India v Australia.

And its not about competition, it's about the complete one sidedness in batting v bowling. Bowlers have absolutely nothing in their favor these days, the bats are massive that mistimed shots and edges go for six while the new white balls barely swing.

The job was done today in the first innings, which is a positive. But barring Moeen's beast of a cameo nothing good happened for England after Morgan left the crease. The bowling and particularly the fielding have left lots to be desired today and need to get better if we're to compete.

Im not going to argue against your second paragraph. It'd be nice to see more games like our first against South Africa where conditions weren't that easy. However, Pakistan, and the rest for that matter, are rubbish teams. You want to argue against that? Go ahead. But they're shockingly unfit side for a professional sporting team.

Just go back to the 2011 WC where every test team bar England looked impressive.

Incredible hitting by Morgan today

The 2011 world cup would've been as shit with this format. Gulf in class gets amplified with longer league stages.

I thought the teams were a lot more competitive, especially the top teams. You had a strong Lanka side and SA if I recall were termed favourites, Pakistan were better, Australia were Australia. But yes if you include Kenya, Canada with this format then it would be a nightmare.

Yea the second paragraph is my reason for saying that ODI cricket is dead, it's a 50 over T20. The SA vs India match was fantastic for preciously the reason that it was a fair contest between bat and ball.

Only Pakistanis are allowed to say Pakistan is rubbish :D

I think 50 overs still has its charm and will stay. T20 is in its own league but if you want to watch quality cricket then Test and 50 overs are what one should look for.

But You are absolutely right that it has totally become a batsmen game and ICC must do something to correct that.

If NZ lose tomorrow then it could be a cracker as the 4th spot could be up for grabs again.

Have little faith in West Indies after their recent performances . I am only going because someone gave me a free ticket and it's a day night match . Will probably leave after a few hours if WI don't turn up

Ideally, you'd want the new ball to do something in the first 10 or so overs. ODI cricket, imo, is fake right now. If these same players played 10 years ago, their averages would be around ten runs lower - for instance Kohli averaged 50ish for a good proportion of his career and now bumped it to 60 in the last 3. Guys like Root, Imam, Fakhar, averaging 50 plus just doesnt seem right to me. Even Rohit is getting up to 50 - should be more like 39-42. I remember when Rohit fecking averaged 30 for like 100 matches.
