ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

De Villiers retired at the wrong time. If he never wanted to be considered for the 2019 WC he could have retired 2 or 3 years ago instead I feel his decision came out of blue of SA and they never could try out a replacement. To make matter worse he offered to come back now. Not solely blaming Ab for SA's miserable WC so far but he is to be blamed for this.

They should've taken him back. Your goal as a team should always be to be as competitive as possible, and they're a much more competitive team with AB.

Who cares if they still wouldn't have made the SFs or Final. They still would've offered a lot more to the tournament by potentially throwing a few spanners in everyone else's run through to the final

The commentators justifying this partnership

Amla out btw. He should retire now.

In Hindsight yes they should have but we don't know what went between the selectors and AB. Maybe they were not impressed the way he conducted himself or maybe they did ask him to come back in Dec/Jan time and AB refused. Maybe some of the SA players were not impressed with AB and his sudden news of retiring. We cannot completely blame the selectors for not having him back.

SA remind me of England at the last World Cup.

They seem totally unsuited to ODI cricket.

They have QDK, Faf, David Miller so I don't think this is quite true.

I think they're just lacking some real quality and a bit of confidence. Amla is sadly past his sell-by date

Well that England side still had Morgan, Buttler, Root and Moeen but the mentality was all wrong.

Exactly.

South Africa have some good players but they look like they're playing ODI cricket from 20 years ago the same way England looked massively behind the times in 2015.

Miller. Absolutely stinks the place up everytime he bats yet people keep assuming he's still some kind of destructive batsman. Living off past reputation.

Still living off that Punjab's season. Guys like him should have been dropped and first asked to improve their batting. I am pretty sure SA must have good hitter in their domestic circuits. They could have easily have had Markram open the innings with De Kock and have a new talent in middle order. DUminy, Miller and Amla should be binned.

Bangladesh are going to regret that NZ loss. This tournament isn't one for upsets

SA have been very disappointing .

NZ will most likely finish in the top 4...

Who is the best placed to cause an upset? Bangladesh? SL? Everyone outside the top 4 apart from Bangladesh look shit. And Bangladesh wont have enough for the top 4.

This has been pretty boring.. worse than the group stages of the CL.

This batting display would have been brilliant 30/40 years ago.

I've only seen a little but whilst the batting isn't anything special, it doesn't look a particularly good batting surface either..

Guess we'll see when New Zealand bats. Also, isn't this what we wanted? A pitch that (seemingly) isn't completely flat.

I still think SA's bowling is one of the best. Sad Steyn got injured. Rabada, Ngidi are here to stay. Just get some quality batsmen and the SA would again be lethal.

New Zealand will ease to a win. South Africa needed 20 overs to get to 73. New Zealand have reached that after 15.

Oh helloooo.

Surprised that doesn't happen more often. Batsmen are constantly way deep in their crease.

Not right away, Shankar won't be dropped after his display last match. Thought match vs Afghanistan is jus the type of game you would want to throw Pant in.
We only have one meaningful game left vs England. Rest are all crap games. We can perhaps try Pant in one game but otherwise need to stick to the same combination. Shankar likely stays ahead of Pant in the pecking order as he provides depth in bowling, which actually proved quite handy vs Pakistan.
