ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

If England don’t win this WC, I don’t think they ever will.

Although, I’m hoping NZ can cause an upset & win it all.

The thing with NZ that we don't know how they good they really are.

They've had a very easy fixture list so far.

They are very talented but often fail because they can't raise their game against the bigger teams. Shame, they are a talented bunch and a lot more likeable than the Aussies

Well they've two world class players in middle order with Williamson and Taylor. Boult and Henry are excellent pace bowlers. For me there opening is an issue as it's a bit hit and miss.

Put a Vettori in there and I'd give them a chance

Fair point. Russell bowling has been good but his batting has been atrocious.

That was the problem with expecting a direct transition from IPL to the World Cup. Though Russell doesn't look like he is fit enough to play 50 overs.

Yep, we're going to find out soon. I think they'll be decent though. Like India, lack of middle-order firepower could hurt them.

I think you're over-estimating the amount of 'firepower' needed in the middle-order. India have enough imo.

Not convinced. Pandya's the one you'd worry about as an opposition captain but the rest seem containable. Would be surprised if Dhoni comes off against the good teams, thing he's just as likely to drag you back with his 'take it deep' obsession.

ODI cricket is dead. What's the point of watching 50 overs of T20? The ICC really need to look at the conditions bowlers bowl with if they want to make ODI cricket credible again.

Agreed. They just need to sort out their top order strategy. You can't be in a situation where you have Kohli coming out in over 25 unless both of the openers have really got it going.

I suspect we will see a lot of changes happening after the World Cup e.g. I can't see the two new balls remaining.

It's not as dead as you're claiming it to be. India vs Australia was a great game and I expect when Aus/Ind/Eng/NZ all face, we'll see some cracking matches. As I've said before, (bar maybe Bangladesh) the rest of the teams are pathetic right now.

I'd say it's a smaller version of the PL top 6 - where the top 4 of the WC are Liverpool/City.

I'd be very happy if Kohli comes in at over 25 every single time. We won't lose matches where that happens. The openers can score at 6 - that is fine as well..

Pandya's rarely going to make 80 runs at a crazy strike rate. Buttler has re-defined what is needed - he is an exception.

We're good if we make 330, and we have the players to do that. We'll fail in matches but we don't need 350+.

One area where India excels in comparison to England/Australia is we have two quality wrist spinners who will take wickets. Chasing 330+ against India would be very tricky as both Pak and Australia have found out.

Like how Afghanistan have in the space of a week kicked out the only two players capable of playing a modern game (Shahzad and Zazai) and gone for a full test match XI.

Was just about to post "Think Rahmat just fancies a century" and he goes and does that.

Yep. I agree. That's the trump card for India, no question.

We're not winning the World Cup with our fielding .

We must be close to double figures for dropped catches, it's fecking rubbish.
