ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

If Tendulkar wants to go down as the greatest of all time he has to win this WC, average competition, great pitches, he has no excuses. It's ODIs but still the biggest stage in cricket.

For all his individual records, leading India to the Sharjah cup doesn't really hold up.

No he doesn't. He's played for most of his career in a crap team with a crappier bowling attack.

He's already proven that. He's fecking 37! Everything now is a bonus.

I'd usually agree but cricket is the only team sport where one individual can make a huge difference on their own.

2 amazing innings by Tendulkar in a semi and the final and India win the WC.

Worked out well in this match, didn't it?

You're the biggest spastic in these cricketing threads and need to piss off.

And  at us!!

We still collapse when he gets out!

Some things never change.

Not too fussed about this impending loss.

At least we're pretty much through to the knockouts.

Only positive I can find for India is, Peterson was turning it...

So, Harbhajan, Yuvraj and Pathan should enjoy themselves, and we know after the England match, RSA love a good collapse too...

Pathan never turns it. Low and fast is his method.

Harbhajan's forgotten off-spin. Turns up occasionally. Fingers crossed he does but most of the time he's an useless fecking pillock.

Is there a need for that?

He's stating an opinion and there's no need for such language. Counter his argument in an effective manner.

South Africa surely favourites for this now. Momentum behind them.

Crazy crazy collapse. Tendulkar and Sehwag are the giggs and scholes of the team...

Contrary to what anyone says, cricket is indeed very much a team sport.

In 2003 sachin almost single handedly took us to the final. Key word being almost because our bowling threw it all away in the final.

Even for a match winning innings you need support and partnerships.

He's done enough for me. As I said its all a bonus now. Even his bonus is better than the rest.

How the hell do you lose 9 wicket for 29 on that pitch?!

Finally , symcox is a prick.

Oooh..touchy.

When we talk about the greatest in sport, we talk about what they won

Maradona - 1 World Cup, 2 Serie A's
Pele - 3 World Cups
Jordan - 6 championships
Tendulkar - 1 Sharjah Cup and Hero Honda Man of the Series.

Spot the odd one out.

I think his 'argument' was soundly countered by the performance of the rest of the Indian team today, a microcosm of Sachin's entire career. Maybe if he had actual basis for his points, but he always turns up without watching the matches, slags Sachin off, then the Indian team and leaves. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with that.

Yeah Pathan is a darter...but they still have to try to score off him. As for Harbhajan, not been taking a lot of wickets so far, but he has been economical, who knows, the batsmen might think block him out and go after, Yuvraj/Pathan, and pay the price.

Obviously a lot of momentum with RSA right now, and all the pundits seem to think India are 30 runs short, so we'll see....

Messi

Won everything at club level. Where as no matter how good they are they have won nothing at international level.

Oh dear, that collapse was something worthy of England!!

EDIT - 8 for 28 runs was it? Correction, far worse than England!

Er you need to understand something called perspective.

You don't magically win things by whp you are and how good you are. In cricket no team has ever won a world cup without some sort of team effort. Today was a prime example of that. And every team to have won through world cup has had all round good performances.

He's already done the impossible. He is simple the greatest.

Nothing left to prove anymore.

Yes. What Sachin really should've done is sharpened up his bowling and bowled Ricky Ponting out in the 2003 cup final.

There is simply no comparison to sachin. He is the greatest.

The fact that Hes still performing at a high level is a mystery. 37!!

He should opened the bowling.

Really, the guy has NOTHING to prove. I'm just enjoying being able to watch greatness in motion right now rather than caring about his legacy. The legacy is set in stone.

Check out his post history regarding Sachin mate, he always sprouts rubbish and then disappears when somebody makes an argument.

And you're a microcosm of the problem of Indian sport. An unhealthy obsession with Tendulkar that makes a mild criticism seem like some sort of personal insult.

Messi
Ronaldo
Giggs

yes but we're talking about THE greatest ever sults. And if you go to the football forum you'll find lots, amol included, arguing that Messi can't be the greatest until he wins the WC.

But he hasn't done the impossible though as he?

Like you say doing the impossible would be winning the WC or beating a great Australian team with a mediocre team.

And India were never that bad, we've had amazing batsmen throughout Tendulkar's career and even some decent spinners.
