ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

didnt know that. I think shewag and tendulkar compliment each other well

India basing SA so far. It is very nice to see them knock the ball around. They get a boundary almost every over.

Its really rare to see a batsmen have a better striker rate then Sehwag when they are playing together.

Bloody Sehwag. He has been giving himself so much room to try and hit it on the offside. He has been exposing all three of his stumps every over since the spinners started bowling. He has paid for it.

India should have given Suresh Raina a chance against SA because they have already qualified from the group stages.

That's the type of risks you have to take in limited over games. It's about balancing risks, and Sehwag does that better than most batsmen in world cricket.

Yeah but not every ball.

It has been his game ever since he has started in the international circuit and has been incredible in his career so far. Why is there a need for him to change his cricket?

fecking Gambhir is pissing me off. He is putting pressure on himself and on Tendulkar. God damn, just rotate the strike.

No time to experiment...and Raina can't play the short ball at ALL. Even in these flat conditions, he would have gotten a couple of short balls every over from

Morkel, Steyn and co...

Not to mention the importance of qualifying in 1st place...

Chill out man! They'll get the highest score in the tournament. You're berating Sehwag then moan about Gautam taking his time.

If Tendulkar wants to go down as the greatest of all time he has to win this WC, average competition, great pitches, he has no excuses. It's ODIs but still the biggest stage in cricket.

For all his individual records, leading India to the Sharjah cup doesn't really hold up.

Would you really hold it against him if others in the team are not up to standards? Some rubbish players have won the WC in the past that's no way to judge their greatness.

Tendulkar vs Ponting

I really think the abrasive nature of his personality has prevented some from appreciating what a genius Ponting is with the bat....

Important points to note, he has played 100 less matches, and his average away from familiar conditions is actually higher than at home.

Tendulkar
matches: 449
centuries: 48
half centuries: 93

Average
home: 48.69
away: 37.36
neutral venues: 50.02
OVERALL: 45.33

Ponting
matches: 355
centuries: 29
half centuries: 79

Average
home: 40.51
away: 44.54
neutral venues: 43.69
OVERALL: 42.60

I'd usually agree but cricket is the only team sport where one individual can make a huge difference on their own.

2 amazing innings by Tendulkar in a semi and the final and India win the WC.
