ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Another fantastic game involving England, wonderful partnership at the end and well done to Bangladesh.

Anderson was very poor again, I wonder if they'll drop him for Tremlett?

Sorry Frosty, cant buy that. Some of the performances have been way under par, England shouldnt be losing some of the games that they have. If not playing at their peak, these players should definately be doing better than they have.

I can. An Ashes tour as well. I'm not saying that they are not trying, or that they do not care. I just think that the effects of the mental energy expended in Australia is coming home to roost.

You guys bottled it big time in this match tbh, nothing to do with Fatigue I would say.

Mental fatigue, as I say above. Physically we are seeing more injuries, but I think mentally they do not have much left.

I take it all back lads.

As I said even if you take that into account, there's just no explanation for somethings. 23 wides for example, as seasoned professionals, expended mental energy has got nothing to do with something like that. Little things like that, lack of discipline in the bowling, shambolic shot selection against SA. There's really no way you can put that down only to a lack of mental energy.

Yes, I can buy that for Jimmy Anderson, who clearly looks like he needs a vacation. But others have blown hot and cold, whereas some dont deserve to be there to begin with e.g Collingwood.

What a game. What an atmosphere. What a result. Lost my voice.

Afraid (or delighted) to say I failed the Tebbit test big time!

Anderson has looked spent since the ODI's in Australia. I agree with you about Collingwood though. It is a shame too.

Mind you, for a country that never stops playing cricket (or so it seems) we do not have a lot of experience in ODI's.

Living in 5 star hotels, playing one game a week and only bowling 10 overs = tired?

Not sure how Bangladesh won that....

Looked like the typical choke job was on, lose 5 wickets for next to nothing, and finish another match shattered.

But a little bit of heart and a lot of cojones shown by Shafiul, and obviously the occasional gift from the England bowlers meant, the improbable became a reality.

The usual excuses of fatigue etc are being trotted out.

Why cant these guys admit they're shit? T20 champs and the ashes when on a crest. But when the shit hits, fatigue, tired and all the lame excuses.

WTF all the sides have been playing throughout the year.

TBF, I think mental fatigue has obviously gotten to Jimmy Anderson. He looks completely shot. He was bowling poorly, and just had nothing to try to get himself up.

I think the mental thing is a bigger deal than the physical thing for this current team, they got up for the India and South Africa matches...but got done by two lesser opponents.

So you can't use physical tiredness as an excuse, but the mental aspect is obvious.

To be a world beating team you cant use 'mental fatigue' as an excuse - Australia routinely beat whoever was put in front of them for 9 years running. The reason England lost yesterday was because they are not mentally strong enough. That is the long and short of it.

However, its also false to say England 'were not up for it'. The team included players needing to make an impression (Shaazad, Bopara, Morgan, Collingwood), the team knew how vital the points were for qualification and the team knew its opposition well. I think they went in tactically naive. To play just one spinner when the opposition included four was sheer madness.

I don't think the lad is mentally or physically tired. More likely his confidence is shot. He is just not suited to these conditions and this was a well debated subject before he left for the tour. The finger pointing should be directed at the selectors.

got to give credit to bangladesh, great fightback when 8 down.

Shewag in his 5 matches has started the innings with a four each time

i dont think its anything new to see Anderson struggle on flat pitches. He is a quality when it swings and can get something from the pitch but otherwise am sure his record his poor.
