ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Relatively speaking, just how good do you think Kevin O'Brien is? One of the most impressive about his innings was that he played mainly technically correct cricket shots, albeit with incredible power. I also noticed that in his innings vs Bangladesh.

I thought Strauss innings the previous day was possibly the best I have ever seen in ODI cricket (along with Tendulkars double hundred) but IMO, O'Brien's innings even beats that, both technically as well as the context of the game.It is without doubt one of the greatest innings ever played in the history of ODI cricket

Do you think he could do well in the IPL?
I haven't seen enough of O'Brien to say how good he is in general but it was definitely the best innings of this world cup.

I don't think I'd call it the greatest ever in ODI cricket. As good as Sachin's 200 was even that was nowhere near the best ever IMO. It's no coincidence that three games on that pitch has seen three great hundreds. A score of 300 is just about par on that pitch so these things have to be taken in perspective.

Then there are other things to consider such as the fact that Ireland didn't actually have anything to lose and that can take the pressure off. Had he gotten out (KOB) there really wouldn't have been immense criticism or crucification of him.

Ram's keeps talking about the Indian batsman's technique.

I think that accusation is applicable against Pakistan. I think their batting line up is NOWHERE near the best teams. But these pitches even that up completely. Had this world cup been on pitches which suit the pacers I'd give them no chance whatsoever. But on these pitches they are a force because their batting flaws don't show up.

Today they're playing or a rare pitch that is doing something and Canada have made them look bad. So IMO anyone playing Pakistan should hope the pitch helps the pacers, particularly in terms of movement.

Utterly ridiculous, the way the game was panning out when he tweeted that made a draw seem reasonable, yet the ICC as ever sticking their noses in.

Thanks BTV. I was asking from an Irish perspective, wondering as to the chances of beating the Windies and therefore probably qualifying. Based on the collapse against Bangladesh you'd have to say none, based on yesterday, well, lots.

Ireland were very unlucky against Bangladesh, however I would fancy the Dutch against Ireland.

The thing is his tweet was actually before the match even started, however ridiculous by PCb, they are one bunch of incompetent idiots.

96/3, Canada will win this, the current partnership has been important and some nice shots in there.

Another wicket. Canada need to hold their nerve, 74 runs from 90 balls & 5 wickets is possible...

Canada 111 for 5!!! Its squeaky bum time all round. Can canada really beat Pakistan? WTF is going on in this tournament?

Big wicket, Afridi's bowling has been very good this WC.

Just this world cup? I think he has kept his spot in the Pakistan team on the back of his bowling the past couple of years...

300+ ODI wickets.

Your right, his bowling has kept him in the side the past few years, but it's been exceptional so far in the WC, he's taking wickets at the right times and become our most important bowler.

5 wickets in the innings for boom boom. 14 in tournament so far. Way ahead as leading wicker taker.

I can't believe he caught it! Brilliant catch.

Another review, looked outside line to me.

Edit: good decision, not out.

Monday Canada vs Kenya.

Worst match in the history of ODI cricket?

All over, Canada out for 138. Pakistan win thanks to some excellent bowling and good fielding. Afridi exceptional, but the openers failed again.

Canada played well, but once the partnership between Hansra & Surkari was broken the collapse followed.

But its still 3 wins out of 3. Without playing very well, without as you say the openers contributing, with Shoaib Akhtar rested, with boom boom still to get going with his bat, they are still winning games.

Virtually guaranteed qualification now for 1/4 finals and yet they still have so much more room for them to fulfil there potential.

Its looking very good for them.

Afridi's always been a bit rubbish with the bat.

Fantastic bowler, though.

I always thought Afridi was a bit of a joke cricketer.

But since 20/20s have come into the fray he's really upped his bowling. I'd say he's one of the best spinners in the world along with Swann.
