Ibrahimovic....Toss

Ibrahimovic played much better football in the first half on Wednesday than Berbatov did in the whole of two legs combined. Incidentally this is the only time Ibrahimovic turned up in the two legs.

For the record, Ibrahimovic is a gifted player, his abundant quality is there and is world class. He lacks the mental application though especially when the going gets tough.

True, sense talked by Eto'odinho.

He is world class, he is a better berbatov and if he played for United he'd no doubt be a favourite, can you imagine how good a player like him would be with the likes of Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo, scholes, carrick.... He would genuinely have a claim to being the best in the world but inter lack that. They lack runners and they lack creativity. I mean any team who rely on the goal keeper, right back and center forward as much as they do is not good enough for the champions league.

Ibra to United! ;)

Zlatan is on a different level of skill to Berbatov, I thought that was common knowledge.

Zlatan requested and got the ball, and tried to create something throughout the two matches. Berbatov is very good when he is on the ball, but he doesnt get on the ball much. He doesnt get involved as much as I would like him to. He was terrible in the two Inter matches because he was almost not there. Zlatan's shooting was a mixed bag, he took some wild shots which made him look worse than he was.

If Zlatan was playing upfornt for us with Rooney, Giggs and Ronaldo, we would have murdered them. Absolutely murdered them.

Agree.

To pick Ibra ahead of Etoo is madness

it wouldn't.

Eto'o is gone from Barca, the fans don't love him, the board dont love him. Guardiola doesnt love him. He doesnt love the club and whilst he has scored alot of goals he hasnt been his best.

They are different types of players though, Eto'o is a better torres i my opinion. The pace, the instinct and the willingness to always get in behind, a gambler but he has more skill than Torres.

Agreed

2 goals against Fiorentina today. First great instinctive header, second superb free kick.

He decided to turn up today unfortunately, the free kick was a good hit. Maureen got sent off as well.

Tonight he singlehandedly delivered us a win :D

What a shit performance anyway, I've been yawning for the whole game.

Was not a great game really, you probably deserved to win. Genoa have a tiny bit of breathing room now but it could have been much worse if Mutu did not stage that comeback against them a couple of weeks ago. Is there any specific reason why you were wearing that kit at home by the way?

I absolutely agree also. I don`t think there is too much shame in not scoring frequently in big games if you don`t have world class players around you to make assists for you. I remember most people on here thinking that Torres was way overrated before he went to Liverpool and he hasn't done too badly since having Gerrard and Alonso supplying him. I think Zlatan would be a class act at United and once his first European goal went in then I think he would score shitloads. He offers a hell of a lot more energy and desire than Berba which are qualites that true United players possess and would be a super summer signing if Inter were willing to sell.

Removing him out of the equation for Inter this season, the title race in Italy would be so much closer.

Won the so many games this season with his brilliance alone.

He can't do everything on his own for Inter in huge CL games even though he almost nearly did but the fact that he does it in his own domestic league and is winning titles just shows how great he really is.

I expect everyone to think he's "overrated" this and that after the two ties against Inter but to be honest, he's just top class and even played well in his last game against us.

It will continue to happen until he scores a goal or does something vital in a win in the latter stages of the champions league. It doesn't matter that he played well, created the best chances, linked the play superbly and was unlucky not to score. It's unfortunate but with the hype surrounding him anything but winning with brilliance leaves people dissapointed. There was a bit of chat on ITV4 about the game and he was referred to as "the hapless Ibrahimovic"....

It's funny because the difference between him being a top player and "overrated" for all these people was him hitting the bar instead of it going in. At least we can see through that. Also the fact that he wins Inter Serie A titles shouldn't be lightly regarded, no overrated player wins that Inter side the league (who aren't even that good).

Yeah I completely agree. Many pundits and casual football followers here either haven't got a clue about his exploits in Serie A, or just downplay his achievements there.

It's as if his name is accompanied by the tag "overrated" and people just assume this is the case.

Cantona wasn't great in Europe, but still goes down as a great.

No it's not.

The difference between being a top player and being overrated is consistently doing it against the best of the best, and just doing it against the best of the rest.

Ibrahimovic played well enough against us over the two legs, but he's consistently performed below that level against top teams time and again.

And he's one of your favourite players? :wenger:

Crazy.

I have the feeling that Roma will eventually get the 4th place but I think that Genoa and Fiorentina will challenge them till the end. Yes, that last gasp goal by Mutu in Marassi was incredibly important. We were wearing that kit 'cause this was the last week of our centenary year, from next Sunday on we will get back to our standard kit at home and the white shirt away.

The only way for him to show up in Europe is having better players around him, tonight he tried a give and go several times with Figo and Muntari and after nothing came out of it he just let himself go down on the pitch in sign of despair

He's one of my favourite players too. Just because he hasn't done it consistently in the big games yet, doesn't mean his incredible talent cannot be admired.

I don't understand how you can have a favourite player, definitely not one who plays for a different team.

Bizarre.

Well, he is one of my favourite players outside United, like Kaka or Maldini. I don't see anything wrong with that.

How bout if the player plays for your national team?

Zlatan is also one of my favourite players, mainly because he's swedish.

He's been very unlucky in games against top teams over the years. He definitely showed up in the Euro's where he played great and scored against Spain.

Maldini's understandable, but why Kaka and Ibrahimovic?

Oh that makes it completely alright.

Yep, he was better in the Euro's this year. But he was quite rubbish in the qualifying matches for it, iirc?

He's one of my favourites because he can do things and does things no other players do.

If he played in the prem he'd be described as "world class" and "one of the worlds best if not the worlds best" the same way they wank over Torres.

Yeah, but you're odd like that, you do have favourite players and I know that, but it makes some sense because you don't really support anyone. Doesn't make sense to me that

Probably.

Why not?

Zidane was my favourite player and I'm not French neither did I support Real or Juventus.

I'm pretty sure you can have a 'favourite' player regardless of supporting that club, you can admire the talent that player has.

I support my local team, attend games or listen to them on the radio. I however watch the big three leagues and form my opinions on players through that. Everyone has favourites. Everyone has players they like more than others it is the same in any sport, any walk of life, personal preference and all that.

I've seen enough of Ibrahimovic to have been a fan of his for years. I have loads of favourite players, there are alot of good players in the world.

That's where I'd draw the line you see, which is why I said Maldini's understandable.

Admiring players is something I do plenty, but that's a big leap from having favourites.

Yeah, and that's what I was saying, you're weird like that. You have favourite players because they're good, that doesn't make sense to me and it's not how your average fan would choose their favourite player.

For example, Carragher's a favourite at Liverpool, or Terry at Chelsea, or Anderson for us, despite them not being the most talented players in their team.

A favourite, for me, has to go further than that.

Naturally, favourites at my own team are like that. I have favourite players at my own team. They arent always the fans favourites but i like them the best.

When i watch other matches the fan favourite doesn't have an influence on me, i watch the player for what they can do on the pitch. It's easy to admire players of exeptional ability, the players i like the most are play makers really, that is why Ibra is one of my favourites. Players who can play passes you don't even know exist.

This is where I'm getting confused here, people are using the word admiring as if it means the same thing as being your favourite, so I don't really understand.

I admire great football outside Manchester United, but I don't for example have a favourite team outside Manchester United. The same applies for great footballers, I admire them but I don't have a favourite player.

I still don't understand how it works.

would love Eto at united, or De Rossi, if Hargreaves does not make it.

I dont have a favourite team outside my team. I admire good teams that play good football. United are one of them, i like arsenal, Barca, Roma, Fiorentina, Atletico but i don;t support any of them. I just like the way they play, they entertain me.

When i watch the games maybe a player stands out, if i see that player a number of times and he continues to stand out then i look forward to seeing that player play again because of what they can do and the style they have. Naturally this becomes a sort of favourtism, the sort of players you would pay money to see but i guess mine are strange because they arn't obvious or at least not that obvious.

Stating that when Zlatan plays well he's one of my favourites players, doesn't mean I wanted him to have a stormer against us.

The fact that I admire a players ability, make that player one of my favourites and I want to see him do well, but not against Utd.
