Ibrahimovic....Toss

Eto'o and Ibra are two different players.

Eto'o is the type of player who runs on through balls, scores goals from anywhere and is deadly at a cherry pick (something we don't have) and is very fast.

Ibra is the type of player who holds the ball up, creates things for other players and can produce magic.

In terms of the team we have now with the idea that Tevez is leaving, Eto'o is the striker we'd need. We have Rooney the ball winning, die-hard, intense wonderkid, but goes through bouts of not being able to score and doesn't have a real arial presence and we have Berbatov the slower, good at holding the ball up and passing but doesn't score enough and doesn't run enough forward. Ibra is just a better Berbatov so no use in having them.

Eto'o would bring the speed, ability to make runs off the ball behind the strikers, the natural/ deadly finishing and goal box poaching will score every other game easily number 9 striker.

With Ronaldo's passing, creativity and wicked shots that 9 times out of 10 get a deflection, Scholes' and Giggs' perfectly timed and weighted passing and Park's win the ball easy passes to the player next to him as well as all the other guys we'd have what I'd call a complete squad where we'd have every kind of player and have them all be in the world-class category.

He is not a creative winger and btw we will never be allowed to go for etoo.

This is where I'm getting confused here, people are using the word admiring as if it means the same thing as being your favourite, so I don't really understand.

I admire great football outside Manchester United, but I don't for example have a favourite team outside Manchester United. The same applies for great footballers, I admire them but I don't have a favourite player.

I still don't understand how it works.

People grow up watching players and try to imitate them themselves etc. Why do they do this? They must have a reason and that's because they think the players excellent and does great things on a football pitch and stands out.

Ibra's one of my favourite players because he has special talent and does things on a pitch not many can do and it's good to see on a pitch rather than watch average players do nothing. Obviously I won't go to the extent of wanting him to score against us or anything, lines are drawn but there's no problem in having a favourite player like this.

Why do you think almost everyone likes Messi? He might not play for the club everyone supports but he's excellent to watch and does things which make you say "wow", there's no point in even trying to deny that.

I highly disagree he's not creative. A proper winger he's not as he doesn't stick to the sidelines and cross but to say he's not creative is crazy. With his assists, flicks, heels, through balls, etc he's one of the most creative out there- he can't help it O'Shea has no idea what's going on but I think his play with Rafael and Rooney shows what he can do with someone equally talented.

I never said we could but we aren't going for Ibra but this thread in part is talking about Ibra and Eto'o some comparing the two and asking who's greater for us- I was throwing in my two cents.
