I was wrong about Casemiro

Issue isn't him. It's about who we are pairing him with. He has another 2-3 years at this level and we really need to give him a solid partner. As much as I love Eriksen , he isn't the right partner to Casemiro.

Really hope we sign Enzo but would be happy with a signing who can partner Cas.

I hold my hands up and admit it.

I initially thought Casemiro was a glamour signing to appease the fans after the Arnautovic and Rabiot debacle earlier in the summer transfer window, a player on a steady decline. How wrong I was!

He is literally the CEMENT in our midfield which holds it all together and has given us something we have really lacked in that department for years. Credit to Ten Hag who must have encouraged the club to jump on this opportunity when it presented itself.
I was very worried it was another Di Maria. But goodness gracious he has been incredible. He makes it look so easy too, as he casually stops another attack looking like an older brother playing against under 9s.

I am not bothered in the slightest about losing out on Gakpo, but if/when we lose out on this guy it will be a sad, sad day for your humble Sea Cow. I don't have much hope at all that we will be able to pull it off, but seeing him go to a Prem rival would be depressing.

I think you need to DM him on his instagram and tell him this personally. Will be such a nice difference.

Best DM in the world.

I really think buying him is better decision than buying FDJ, who is too light weight to play DM role for us in PL.

For a fanbase who had to put up with Mcfred for a number of years I do still find it baffling how anyone did anything but jump for joy when this signing was made.

Posters who never admit they were wrong - "Keep digging, you know feck all about football"

Posters who admit they were wrong - "Bro, why you telling us we don't give a shit"

Oh I’ve seen the pondlife having a go at him.

Didn’t play well tonight but feck me do this lot just love trying to hound players.

Sancho and Antony the current ones seeing as Rashford silenced them.
As soon as Rashford will have a bad game they'll raise their heads again.
Happens with Bruno too.

There were plenty on here who were wrong about Casamiro. Many more wanted Rashford sold last season look at him now.. Forums are plagued by doom mongers.
Go and read page 5 on Anthony thread in players performance section. Posters drooling over Anthony, compare and contrast to many comments on his performance after last nights game.

New and shiny is always better. Shaw for example has endured it all and played in two tournaments for England as one of the best left backs but you would be convinced that he was a mid-table plodder.

Easily one of the best midfielder we might ever get. I’m serious with that too.

Last night was one of the finest midfield performances I’ve seen for United from a single player in my time as a fan.

Defensively the guy was exceptional.

It still boggles my mind that Casemiro landed his plane at Old Trafford. If he’s not to the CDM on the planet — and a conversation about the top CDM of all time is not out of order — I’d like to know who is.

Are other top clubs so stocked with CDMs that calling up say Bayern, PSG, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal would have been unthinkable?

I wasn’t troubled after Casemiro had ONE bad outing (end even then, on the dispossession that led to the goal he was clearly fouled) but there was a bit of a meltdown here. Glad to see the folly of rushing to judgment in this case is admitted.

If Casemiro can maintain his form in the second half of the season, he’s easily on short list for POY. Maybe even the no-brainer winner, although that award doesn’t often go to a player in a squad that lands fourth place, which we will.

100%. I don't think it's fully registered yet. It still looks weird when those pre-match player listings come out. But I'm extremely happy.
I'm just a tad disappointed with his return on yellow cards at the moment. He was a regular source of income for me whilst at Real Madrid along with Carvajal.

It's amazing what a good passing DM can do for a club. He is easily the number one reason we are much better this season than last.

It's also amazing that the club didn't see this as a problem and stuck with Fred, McT and old Matic for so long.

He came here because he wanted to show the world what he is capable of. After all those years of Kroos and Modric getting the laurels, it's now Papa Cass' time to shine.

Just hope we're able to strengthen other areas enough to mount a title challenge before he declines

I will happily admit I was wrong about Rashford and most of me is pleased he has regained form.
However a small part is still disgusted that he basically took the piss out of utd and the fans for a season by blatantly not trying.
You can blame coaching, personal issues etc for a drop in form but the complete lack of effort was hard to take.

Thought he came for a sabbatical but mans on his game yo...world class.

Have you learned anything?

That's just plainly bollocks. You want to play non stop after a severe back injury?

Modric is still playing at a high level at 37 years old. The solution is good squad depth. I'd love to see United add someone like Declan Rice, who can play the 8 or 6 position and add some depth to the midfield. I disagree that Eriksen is not the right partner to Casemiro, but signing Enzo Fernandez or Jude Bellingham would be great. Neither McTominay nor Fred offer much if there is an injury in midfield. Plus, United are still active in 4 competitions and playing twice a week. None of these players can keep up that schedule. To keep up with Liverpool, City, Real and others, United needs a more competitive squad where there is 2-deep quality at every position.

As long as the criticism wasn't overboard, I don't blame people for having doubts after the first few games. We've been burned too many times over the Woodward era and the concept of actually signing a world class midfielder that would become one of the best in the league was simply inconceivable.

was souness asked about his opinion again? would be interesting if he stands his case till the bitter end

I was wrong too, I thought real would sell us a crooked man but he is fit as a fiddle and very classy on the ball and I'm not even mentioning his perfect attidtude. Both great in attack and defense. Quite simply the complete midfield player.
