Huw Edwards | Charged with making indecent images of children

That's really what I want to understand. Why anybody would pay that much for nudes. There has to be way more to this.

you have to remember some older men don’t even know that porn is free on the internet

I’d better give my old man a heads-up actually

I think that was 2002 and pre-dated privacy laws. The Max Mosley case in 2008 was when everything changed.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2008/jul/24/mosley.privacy
And prior to the hacking scandle. Morality claims brought to you by news outlets, not just NOTW, which hacked the phones of murder and rape victims (and just a general dragnet of immoral shite over the years). Remember that Murdoch owned NOTW and it is now Sky, Murdoch press, bringing you the terrible morality of an individual at the BBC who may, or may not, have broken the law. The Sun, still owned by Murdoch/NewsCorp, also involved actively.

I’m getting quite uncomfortable with the level of political interference in this case, especially as it’s not like the Conservative Party or parliament in general has a good track record on dealing with its own cases of sexual abuse or harassment.

I also find it quite weird that the line on BBC’s own coverage is “BBC made just two attempts to contact complainant” when if you look at the detail, it says they emailed and received no response from the complainant and then tried to phone instead but couldn’t get through. That doesn’t feel that outrageous for a large organisation that probably gets a lot of spurious complaints amongst the genuine ones.

That sounds wrong

Btw I think the sums match a Sugar Daddy kind of relationship which is very common these days among older men and younger women. But it's really nobody's business but theirs.

The 35k could be a complete lie or could be true. Or if you can tip creators on onlyfans like on twitch and youtube it wouldn't be unheard of for someone to throw stupid money at a creator. Obsessive, parasocial midlife crisis maybe.

Or it could be absolutely anything because this story is so vague, contradictory, disputed, full of seedy and manipulative inuendo.

Wait there's a video circulating the rounds of the presenter in question?! I'm kind of curious

If he is innocent I wonder how he gets on with his life now. Pretty humiliating for the guy if he's done nothing wrong in a legal sense and he's just been outed.

If the BBC concludes that the presenter did what is alleged and even if none of it was illegal, it's likely that his career at the Beeb is over. Early retirement beckons.

I was sorting my dad’s email out, and he followed a bunch of women on Twitter who posted nudes. I don’t know what it says about this part of society, but I was pretty happy that they were like middle aged milfs.

Well done dad, they weren’t 18.

It is wrong, free porn was invented by "older men"

Please tell me you didn’t have to endure reading his comments beneath their tweets?

As far as I could tell, other than a few betting odds, the only thing he ever tweeted was commiserations to Michael Owen because one of his horses died. The guy can’t stand Owen so I dunno how that came about

The art of the filthy innuendo is lost on your generation. Sad times for Kenneth Williams fans.

Can't seem to find any links, so assuming its BS given the source. Anyone got any links to prove/disprove?

GB News's Dan Wootton show had said police investigated 7 weeks ago when they were first approached and deemed no crime had been committed?

Anyway, apparently the person in question threatened a 2nd person

Rather sounds like they're laying the ground for his sacking here.

it’s the bbc. they’re just doing their due diligence before prompting him to the board.

The presenter is clearly fecked but this story is saying they started talking on a dating app, moved to another platform, the presenter revealed his identity before the guy then threatened to tell the press about the presenter being gay - at this point the presenter became abusive. Isn’t threatening to out him a bit of a cnut move? What am I missing?

So the the married presenter, probably with kids and deeply in the closet starts to trust someone online and reveals their identity. The new young person then threatens to out the person at which point the presenter probably panics and becomes abusive.

Would that not be human nature since it sounds like he is being blackmailed?

Seems this “presenter” really is up to his neck in shite, going to take some shovelling to get out of this.

Anymore victims?

There isn't a single victim so far.

One person says he isn't a victim, the other 'victim' is an adult who tried to out him.

Rumoured the first is a drug addict ? ….Second, out him or not, the BBC have seen the abusive/threatening messages.

He’s in very deep shit.

Sky News are absolutely loving this. They have talked about nothing else for the last couple hours.

Exactly. Seems to be a sad story of a very famous closeted man with major depression issues getting feked over by crack heads and low lifes he met online.

feckin hell, what a take.

To me it seems as the only victim in this whole affair so far is the BBC presenter. He's going to lose his job and be subjected to all sorts of shit that should have been private.

Unless anything else comes out, what I've read and seen so far is his own business and not worthy of 3 days front page on a rag like the Sun and also headlines on major news channels. Ridiculous witch hunt and it wouldn't surprise me if it was being used to cover something else up.

As OP, I’ve gone ahead and added a question mark to the thread title. Seems only fair, and hopefully the presenter will draw some comfort in this.
