Huw Edwards | Charged with making indecent images of children

If you parse the language carefully you can deduce that some of it might have been true but not deemed inappropriate. And some of it is said to have been made up - specifically the illegal bits. Which of course the Sun required in order to publish as a public interest defence against breach of privacy.

On that basis nobody should be naming the presenter as he has done nothing wrong in the eyes of the law. The torch wielding mob of meddlesome ratbags and BBC haters can stand down for the moment. Till the next twist anyway.

Dont know the facts yet is constantly downplaying the story and throwing up baseless theories as to why is isn’t that bad?
Why pretend to have a neutral stance then come down so heavily on one side?

That aged well

If the mum was paid large sums of money to invent/embellish a story then the Sun might be in considerable legal trouble

Wonder if the Sun double down with another front page splash or act like nothing happened and report on some other bollocks that fits the agenda.
They've run a story from the mother and step father standing by the allegations

Vindicated mate. You were the only one here saying this could be bullshit.

Honestly I think the consensual adult stuff could be true. It's just not a story without the illegality.

He has multiple posts in here saying the Sun can't be trusted.

That part is fine, this is libcafe. But I don’t see how he was vindicated, posters were speculating on both sides.

The only ones who have been vindicated at this point are the sexy beasts who didn’t take the side of the BBC nonce or the extorting crack head, and we’ll eventually be wrong too

The 17-20 year old getting expensive lawyers to refute The Sun's reporting does not really strike me as the 'nothing to see here, just the press creating a story out of nothing' situation that a lot of people now seem to be talking as if it is.

If there is anything to this, possibly the mum is upset about the relationship, perhaps more a male escort thing since turning 18 with those type of payments and not really anyone's business?

BBC are saying the lawyer also said the kid is estranged from his mother. I don’t quite get why they’ve gone to the Sun newspaper and not the police if something illegal has occurred…and if nothing illegal has occurred I don’t know why I’m supposed to give two flying fecks.

BBC now have no choice but to confirm the identity tomorrow. The last few minutes has just confirmed with 100% certainty who it is.

Rumoured that the paper reached out to the individual and knew they refuted the version of events their parents told them. Delay in response was because they needed to secure legal representation before formally responding. But they ran it anyway.

If the Sun knew the alleged victim didn't support the story before they ran it, which presumably they did reach out to them before running it, then they're fecked.

Must be the highest ratings BBC news have had in ages tonight

Aye. I mean, I’ve not really followed this story, but this kid seems to be publicly working from a very different playbook than most 20 year old addicts.

I don’t think that is rumoured. The BBC article quotes the lawyer saying they informed the Sun before the article was published that they denied the story. It also further updated that the parents are estranged. The Sun article today says the lawyer states nothing unlawful has occurred. The police also agree:

Yeah I think they have already done that by dropping said presenter.

I’m not really sure what’s going on here, well, no one is, but I really hope the Sun get fecking buried and go the way of NoTW
