How do we sell Harry Maguire?

Even when he doesn’t play it’s his fault. The hive mind has decided. But long contract big fee, he’ll be here for years, shame some can’t just try supporting him. Next manager will use him I have no doubt.

I simply don’t understand your mentality, we should we try to support him if the «verdict» is in? These aren’t 9 year olds trying to play football in grammar school, he’s a professional athlete and his lack of ability is directly harming the progress of the club. I will not «try and support» someone who isn’t good enough at his job, neither is he fit or trying hard enough to compensate for his obvious lack of it.

Lack of ability? Lack of form you mean. I don’t understand people with your mentality who throw people under the bus who’re struggling. Each to their own I guess. Enjoy watching Harry for the next 3/4 years in a United shirt, as he’s not going anywhere.

Your obsessive white-knighting for Maguire never ends. Yet you through out sweeping and bizarre accusations at others.

Unfortunately his main selling point which was ball playing has been only getting worse. I believe it has something to do with his mind but really though take that ability away and what you have is Phil Jones.

In order to get rid of him there needs to be interest. Playing like he does and being paid what he is, that’s quite unlikely.

Yeah we have to be prepared to take a hit on him, however club won't be willing to do that

I hope the new manager gets a proper CB and maguire gets relegated to be a squad player at best, if he can’t be sold.

In the games he didn't start in January De Gea had to make more saves than any other keeper in the league. As for Maguire, he's had a handful of awful games. No doubt. The 4-2 loss to Leicester, 5-0 loss to Liverpool, and the 4-1 loss to Watford are the games that pop in my head right away. He was awful in those games and that's 13 goals right there. Take those games away and we are around a goal per game, which isn't bad. Especially considering how poor we have been. But outside of that, for the most part people are literally looking for reasons to blame him. He's become a massive scapegoat. It's gotten so bad people actually want him to do poorly and that really is pathetic...
You’re such a maguire ****.

Yeh let’s just take away the games with the most goals, to modify the stats, to fit your agenda in Harry Maguire being ‘not bad’.

I’d call that ‘pathetic’.

You could do like we did, swap him for a posh training complex! Having said that, I am wondering wether we actually use it.

He’s pound for pound possibly the worst signing we’ve ever made, but he’s also unbelievably unlucky  It feels like he even costs us goals in games he plays well in, ‘mistakes’ like last night’s deflection or the Spurs own goal that could’ve happened to Van Dijk, Varane, Silva, Dias and defenders like that, but seems to only happen to him. He also clearly doesn’t have the respect of many of his peers, like Davies, Elmohammady, Ronaldo etc.

Yeah, he’s nowhere near good enough to play for us, but I’m starting to feel for the man.

We grow some balls, accept the reality of the mistakes we've made and show him the door along with several others.

Are the deflections bad luck or down to poor positioning and reading of potential danger?

I think the best we can hope for is him being a squad player. You can see him playing really well for somebody else but I don't think those clubs could afford his current wages. The situation with us seems too toxic for him to recover from.

Who would actually be interested in him?. And it'll be one hell of a balancing act to sell him and get him to accept the lower wage earnings. So this probably means that he will be liable for a pay out if he were to be forced out of the club.. That means we get even less money for him

I'd rather see us do this with AWB tbh, he actually is anti-football personified! He can't cross, can't pass, and stands off his man who then crosses past him to set up a goal ffs

He’ll see his contract out, more likely to get an extension and a pay rise than be sold. Maybe only has another year or two as a starter though and be amazed if he keeps Captaincy beyond this season.

So saying he's been bad in a few games isn't good enough for you? Your agenda is so f***ing strong it doesn't matter what facts I show you. And you say I'm pathetic? Sorry for not being a muppet and just repeating what others tell you to think. I watch the games and make my statements based on facts, not scapegoating players because others told me to. Give your head a massive shake...

He's not a very good defender, that much is clear for all to see. However I'm not particularly arsed about getting rid of him yet. He's fine to have in the squad for the next couple years, until we get our shit together and can afford to get rid and replace him. What annoys me more than anything is the fact he's captain. What an utterly stupid decision that was by Solskjaer. It goes without saying he's the worst captain we've had in the last few decades, but I can't remember ever coming across another club whose captain is so disliked and disrespected as Maguire is at United. The guy has no charisma, no personality, and exudes no authority or presence. He's not even particularly likable. Listening to his bland and robotic interviews is a sad experience.

An embarrassment to the past greats we had as captain.
The club rewards mediocrity which sums up why Ole gave him the armband.
Hopefully the very first one out the door.

Watch how VVD and other pool defenders react to opponents taking shots from outside the box. The data shows the XG from these shots are so low that it’s not worth trying to block the shot. In fact sometimes VVD even actively tries to get out of the way.

The chance that a shot beats a keeper such as Allison/Ddg from that distance is probably lower than the chance that a random deflection leads to a goal. Obviously Maguire and our coaching team haven’t even started to think about these things.

Really hope he is gone next season.

I don't have bad will towards him, he tried his best he's just not good enough at this level.
City and Pool would never start him and I don't think Chelsea spurs or arsenal either.

he is just too slow to play at the top top level nowadays. The greats who never had speed, pique puyol chillini all read the game at the best level.

Id be happier to see varane and lindelof to be 1st pairing for the rest of the season so he knows if he stays his World Cup spot may be at risk bc we're not playing him anymore.

Hot take: In terms of overall performance, Maguire has been our most consitent defender since Rangnick took charge.
