How do we sell Harry Maguire?

He needs to be taken out of the firing line, form, ability, it clearly isn't desire as for everything you can say about him, he clearly cares.

I'd take him out of the firing line for a few weeks, let him recover mentally and get some confidence back by playing reserves or whatever. We won't sell him, we'd never recoup the outlay and I'd guess his wages are another deal breaker. He wasn't this bad when he signed, he is capable of being at the very least an average prem defender, he's just under so much pressure being Captain, the whole team underperfoming, him getting slated every week. He hasn't a chance of playing into form in that environment. I'm not suggesting he's ever going to be a world beater but how many players have hit the same issues in this toxic Utd environment. Hopefully a new philosophy and approach next season can see a change in mentality across the whole club.

We just need him out of the building, even at a loss. The culture can’t get back to normal with him around. He is an embarrassment to the club.

The best thing might be just to drive to a far away Motorway services, prepare a bowl of food and water and leave him tied to the railings. Maybe some overseas Trucker will find him, give him a bed for the night in his cab, and then either take him to a rescue centre or maybe take him back to eastern Europe where he can run to his heart's content.

The club just then need to release a sad instagram post talking about "going to stay on a farm" or "crossing the rainbow bridge" depending on how brutal they want to be.

Irrespective of who England play, they'll be more organised, composed and coherent than anything we've seen from United this season. And if they play, the likes of Maguire and Shaw will know what's expected of them and, more than likely, be much better than they've been all season in a United shirt.

That won't be because, contrary to accepted wisdom, they can switch confidence on and off between club and national sides - as was suggested by @Red Indian Chief Torn Rubber. It'll be because the England set up isn't a raging dumpster fire.

It's bizarre how a forum can be in near-total agreement that the team is an un-coached, tactically deficient mish mash of several failed regimes and that massive failings in key areas (midfield) have left parts of the team totally exposed but, when these things are held up as bigger reasons for our malaise than Harry Maguire, people refuse to concede an inch.

I've said it already but I'll say it again. Yes, he's been shite. So has the whole team. They haven't all become useless overnight for no good reason. The failings go way beyond certain individuals, no matter how deeply entrenched the negativity is towards some of them.
I agree entirely. It's amazing that fans can't look at examples with other teams. Barcelona this season and Chelsea last season. A change to the right coach/manager and players that looked hopeless before turn things around. As long as they've shown sustained periods of form in prior years and aren't past their best, I hold out hope that certain players aren't horrible but that they just need a change.

Our mainstay players like Maguire, Shaw, Rashford, Sancho and Bruno will all improve I reckon. Varane, De Gea, Fred, McTominay and Lindelof have ranged from decent to good so no worries about them. Same for Telles and Dalot. AWB and Pogba? I don't know. Martial has been terrible for multiple years in a row now without Rashford's excuse of still contributing with goals. Ronaldo is Ronaldo. VDB has done nothing for both United and Everton.
Everyone else outside of Elanga very likely won't be in the squad next season for them to be judged.

Unfortunately his main selling point which was ball playing has been only getting worse. I believe it has something to do with his mind but really though take that ability away and what you have is Phil Jones.
A healthy Phil Jones is a player good enough for a top 6 club.

Disappointed it doesn't say should

Shocking that one of our worst players not only plays almost every match but is made captain.
It's as if managers who manage the club, want to get fired by using the worst players!
In a couple of years, Maguire will get a bumper contract extension and he'll be stinking up the place for another 6 years.

Luckhurst has been reliable recently but this makes less sense to be reported now since Ten Hag hasn't come here, hasn't meet the squad, and hasn't meet Maguire. Unless you are telling me that this is actually Man United's board and Rangnick's decision/suggestion and they will tell the new manager that next season you can or should strip off his captaincy.

Our best chance of selling him is if we decide we want to sign him from ourselves. In that scenario, I could even see us turning a profit on the sale side of the deal.

Make it a Dele Alli type agreement. Initial free transfer potentially rising to £40 mil after criteria is reached. Given his reported wages you might need to subsidize 50% for a year or two on top of that.

Needs humbling. Epitomises every single thing wrong with us at the moment. Ego of Ronaldo, ability of Titus Bramble, but he’s still our captain.

And yes, while he hasn’t played badly every game, I genuinely think he has in at least 80% of them this season. Especially these days, it feels like he has at least one disastrous error per game.

Just when I think I cannot stand him more and he goes and does this. Literally, the only thing he exceeds at is embarrassing the club and the fans.

"From this season I've had some......... bad? games?"

"But I do understand that I'm the captain of this club" *nervous chuckle, shifty eyes*

Zero personal responsibility in that clip. The most he says is I've had some bad games this season. No fecking shit slabhead. Hope the next manager sells this clown.

So out of touch with the base.... embarassing.

Discovered recently that when you buy a new and better fridge they have this option where they take your old fridge for free.

What an arrogant clown of a man

He's right though.

Nothing wrong with that quote.

He is likely to be neither sold nor bench. I just hope Erik can get something out of him.

You’d be right if I posted the one of him saying that the motivation is for us to make the top 4 rather than deny Liverpool the quadruple.

For this quote, I can’t see anything RIGHT with it. It’s an awful one, riddled with unbridled and unnecessary arrogance.

It's just a statement of fact.

If he had of said our motivation was to get top four, he would have been torn to bits for having zero ambition or not wanting to beat Liverpool or something similar.

The guy cannot catch a break with some on here.

He did say that, and I agree with him. As I was saying, no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the fact that he’s implying that he hasn’t been bad this season.

Can we start a crowd fund to buy him and send him to SadlerMUFC since he adores the guy so much. Just get him out of here please.

Disaster of a player, disaster of a character. Piss off to the Championship

Maguire commits to Mane(?) because midfield has been completely bypassed and there's no cover.

It's an error on his part obviously, but compounded by errors elsewhere as well. Either we're just tactically set up poorly, which is possible, or we're just not bothered to run, which is probable.

Would it be harsh to say he's cost us at least a dozen points this season? Genuinely puzzling how bad he is.
