Television House of the Dragon (GoT Prequel) - No book spoilers allowed

Finish the damn book you dick. Sorry this has nothing to with the thread - apologies. The spin-off triggered me
Ever since GOT it seems the dude just likes to bask in the fame and glory. Wouldnt surprise me if at some pt it comes out he is a massive dick or creepy af bc i havent seen much to believe he is a wholesome gentleman.

Well I don't think we'll get another one until house of the dragon is finished right? Which will be 3 seasons taking us into 2026 or so
Nah there's one spin off that will probably be out before HOTD finishes, it's the hedge knight one, based off the dunk and egg stories. Last I read the cast is sorted and they'll be filming soon if they're not already.

A 7/10 episode without blood and cheese. Blood and cheese makes it 5/10 for me. What the feck was that shit, why do these hacks think they know better than the guy who wrote the story, kicking a dog is not the fecking same as making you choose which of your child you let die. Only good thing I suppose is they aren't going to shoehorn stark and give us proper winter wolves

Thankfully AI will one day be able to finish the series, because Martin won't. He always preferred to work in TV.

Can only think they thought the book version was too much for TV.

He will (probably) finish The Winds of Winter book (3000 pages:eek:).
I am afraid that there is no way that we ever see 7th (and last) book.

I don't think the series with rape, incest and animal abuse can or should draw the line at emotionally harrowing. They could have done the similar version to how they showed the death without affecting the making her choose stuff.

I haven't read Fire & Blood, but after watching the episode I checked out how this played out in the book. This is pure guess work, but I think the showrunners might have toned it down a bit, because the book version could appear a bit over-indulgent in how terrible it is. I thought it was a pretty exciting and gut-wrenching scene nonetheless - probably because I had no idea what would happen.

Edit: Although I will say that it didn't make a whole lot of sense, that they couldn't just check the gender themselves. Come to think of it, that sort of undermines the whole scene.

Which would make sense if this wasn't the show where we had Rheanys casually destroy parts of a building and kill a few guards just to look the opponent king and his men in the eye because it would look cool and make her girl boss or whatever. They took a scene with the potential to be HoTD's red wedding and turned it into season 6 dorne.

I know I read it, but even I get annoyed when people constantly reference the book. I can't imagine how annoying it is for people who just want to watch the TV show.
In this scenario not annoying at all. Very interested to know how it played out in the books.

Feck the book, the whole Blood and Cheese scene was lame to begin with.. what, did Deamon suddenly forget the Meagor secret ways and had to find rats to do his dirty work.. cmon..

Haven't watched the new season yet, doing a rewatch of season 1 to catch up. Paddy Considine not getting an award for Viserys was a fecking travesty.

I think Olivia Cooke who plays Alicent recently commented on this as well, but it is quite funny that they have a 30 year old actress play the mother of characters played by actors aged 25, 27, and 29

I know they probably have kids young in this world, but this is kind of absurd.

I doubt he forgot. Just that he's not the right person for the job.

He won't though. I'm not a gambler but depending on the odds offered I'd gladly put a fair chunk of my savings on no more books from the main saga written solely by him ever being released.

I've heard the term Blood and Cheese used as I watch a lot of ASX and Glimbus but didn't know what it referred to, so I found the scene very tense as I was expecting the two dudes (who I didn't know were blood and cheese before reading the backlash on reddit) to bump into Aemond and get anime'd to bits. And felt breathless after the credits.

I don't see how the original version would work with this version of Helaena. Her actress nailed it, and it was fitting to that character for me. Maybe in the context of the whole book the change is significant but it just feels like a lot of hyperbolic whinging over nothing at this stage, comparing it so S8 and the like.

It was claimed he was writing 100’s of pages in Covid. Which seems like it was not true. If you didn't have time to write in covid then its not happening now.

He wrote 5 books for GOT in 15 years, now no book for 13 years. Even the dissatisfaction of the ending to GOT didnt spur him on to write and reveal his ending - would be a fair amount of cash in it for him too

How did the city guard climb the ladder with a torch, dog and rat traps? Fecking bullshit.

Well yeah. Didnt one of the writers/directors of the original GOT series literally go as far as to say its got to the point where the show is popular we can just write bullshit and illogical stuff because people will still watch it?
