If you can get 3 out of 4 every day you'll be everyone's pal. I'm a flatman myself so it'll be after the Lincoln and not really before the guineas before I get involved.

I can imagine, hopefully the daily expectation falls a little short of that.

I suspect that with the grand national just around the corner there will be a little more activity in here in a few weeks time.

You're on a bit of a roll- how much you up this week?

Just 2/6 Winners today, but yet again NAP and NB land for solid profit.

It could have been a far better day with 3/4 losers finishing 2nd.

A couple of couple hundreds with both NAP & NB landing in each of the last 3 days bringing in a steady profit - it's a shame about so many 2nd place finishes today outside of them two as it could have been much better. I usually don't bet on horses over the weekend (I lose my money on football instead), so I will post my selections up next week if I'm on anything. I was hoping that posting selections up for a few days would get a few other posters in but it doesn't quite seem to have worked out that way.

Very small double today, but that's my lot

1.50 Newbury
Sign of A Victory @1.50 NB

5.05 Bangor
Big Hands Harry @1.44 NAP

Topham Chase prices emerged today, Standing Ovation absolutely huge at 20s. Race made for him and can't believe handicapper dropped him 2lbs for his run at Cheltenham which was a cracking effort considering his keen going tendencies for the first 2miles of the race.

14s at Hills now. Still worth a punt?

How'd you get on?

Sign of a Victory was a winner, but Big Hands Harry only came 2nd. Just had a small Take the Crown and Dozy Joe double land on Monday @3/1, and I'm on nothing but Able Dash @1/1 in the 7.00 Kempton today. I've been too busy to study the cards so I haven't posted anything up.

7.00 Wolves tomorrow - Sir Frank Morgan 4/5
Didn't enjoy sand last time out but back on poly and should have far too much for Royal Defence

Comfortable winner.
Who you backing tomorrow in the GN Dan? I'm thinking of throwing a fiver on that 'Big Shu'.
Impossible to call really and it's not really the kind of race I bet on (somebody else might be better placed to input), any horse on the card could easily fail to finish. Big Shu is very comfortable with the distance and has been trained specifically for the national this season so it's not a bad shout, but I rate Teaforthree as a better grand national horse. I would never go big on the national because it's so unpredictable but I will have a few picks.

Teaforthree 9/1
Balthazar King 18/1
Tidal Bay 16/1
One in a Milan 100/1 e/w

I have three horses backed already for tomorrow's National and I'm gonna add a couple during the race in running.

Double Seven has been strong in the market all week since Tony McCoy confirmed he rides him. I backed him in March after a horse he beat at Limerick in October won the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival. He's a horse with plenty of wins to his name over the last year or so and he's shot up the handicap but I'm happy with that 33/1.
I had The Rainbow Hunter in mind for the race after he impressively won a big handicap at Doncaster in January. He had an operation to aid his breathing before the turn of the year and again, I got in early at a good price. He unseated in the race last year but that win at Doncaster suggests he's a better horse now.
Rocky Creek is a flat track horse who jumps well and stays. The main knock against him is his lack of experience over fences but the race is different now since the fences were hollowed out and I'm willing to ignore some of the old stats that a lot of punters sweared by. His run in the Hennessy reads well and I think he'll love this test.

I backed Teaforthree last year when he just failed to get home and I think his chance comes down to how his ridden in terms of conserving his stamina. In the 2004 National Hedgehunter led right from the get go setting a decent pace but he paid the price and fell at the last when beaten. The next year he came back and was held up just off the pace, only taking over after Clan Royal was mugged at second Becher's. He went on to be one of the most impressive winners I've seen in the great race and I just wonder if Rebecca Curtis has the same tactics in mind for her horse tomorrow. With that in mind I am going to put a bid up on Betfair for about 16/1 (he's currently around 11/1) once the race starts. I'm going to do the same with Tidal Bay but for differing reasons. He's bound to get outpaced at some point in the race and whilst his odds of 20/1 make a certain amount of appeal I reckon 28+ will be available at some stage. I think the gentler version of the race will suit him (he was a non factor in 2011) and I just have to get involved given his crazy looking mark. He's a recent(ish) proper* Grade 1 winner being asked to give less than a stone to the likes of Walkon and Balthazar King.

Grand National:
Double Seven £10ew @ 33/1 (5pl)
The Rainbow Hunter £10ew @ 40/1 (5pl)
Rocky Creek £10ew @ 20/1 (6pl)

Teaforthree £20 bid IR @ 16/1
Tidal Bay £20 bid IR @ 28/1

*Unlike the rubbish Grade 1's at this meeting Tidal Bay beat Sir Des Champs, Flemenstar and a top form First Lieutenant in his.

Looks straightforward this year:
1 Long Run
2 Tidal Bay
3 Tea for 3

Tricast should pay 700/1 or you could triple Dutch @ around £10 stakes for £100 profit

Nice write up. I try to leave it as late as possible for races like this because it's easy to talk yourself into many horses and before you know it you're backing a quarter of the field. Alternatively, you can get 6/4 on all runners to succesfully negotiate the first fence - not a bad side bet with the fences being kind so far this week, and all runners made it to fence 7 last year.

The Rainbow Hunter could well challenge, took on a big field at Doncaster to win it but his form prior to his op was poor- he has a chance because Doncaster is the only run he's had since then, but unless he's turned into a completely different horse I think he'll fall short. Furthest he has ever completed is 24f, has tried 29f and pulled up and of course unseated the rider in last years 35f national.

Teaforthree picked up a bug in Jan so has run a few times to build up his stamina. Rebecca says he's in much better shape now than last year and could well go 2 better. He shouldn't have a problem with the distance, and he's a solid jumper so the fences shouldn't be a problem this week - but I guess that's why he's the favourite going into it.

I haven't gambled for four months but have always had a punt on the National so had a go at three with very small stakes simply for the enjoyment factor:

Big Shu @ 20/1
Monbeg Dude @ 14/1
Burton Port @ 18/1

I had a shortlist of six this morning (the three above plus three more) that I found difficult to whittle down to a couple, so the missus decided to back the three I didn't take on (Vintage Star @ 40/1, Mountainous @ 40/1 and Pineau de Re @ 20/1).

Good luck to all!

I have also 3 bets on for the National.

Vesper Bell @ 66/1
Big Shu @ 18/1
Chance Du Roy @ 40/1

If it says my bet is matched, what does that mean? I just wanted to place a normal bet, is that normal? :nervous:

I got him at 46, if I've done it right..
Only got 26, not 33 this morning sadly, stuck 6 quid on him E/W - William Hill paying 5 places.

Got a few quid on Rocky Creek and TeaForThree, the Mrs has gone for Balthazar King.

Good luck lads, would be nice to get a bit of money from this one today.

False start. Going to be a delay now.

It was a joke of a race. A leading horse taken out of it by one running with no-one on it. You'd be fuming.

Bloody hilarious if you didn't have him though. I had moonshine, buckers bridge, double seven and rocky creek.. at one point I'm sure I had a 1-2-3!!! Gutted.

Even if you had him you wouldn't be too bothered imo, the frontrunner at that point of the race was never going to win it.
