Simply because Mikhi would help us hold the possession much like Mata did and we would have few more positional attacks but with Schneiderlin it was clear we will just be trying to survive, giving away possession.

Disagree.

You can't always go toe to toe with everyone in all circumstances. Giroud presented a different threat and any manager worth his salt would look at this and try and negate the problem.

You are allowed to disagree of course.

If he ever gets a chance I wouldn't mind seeing him on the left. Martial and Rashford haven't offered much from that position thus far, which is understandable since they are strikers.

Can't believe some are writing him off already. Mourinho has already said that he expects Mhiki to bloom in his second season, much like William at Chelsea.

Of the front 6 yesterday, who would he bench? Certainly not Mata, who has been one of our best.

Agree, that would make the most sense. But Pogba played in a similar position for Juve, so if Martial doesn't play there, I'd probably rather see Pogba.

Just think about it. We are talking about a guy, who was number 8 last year in Europe. One of the top BL players, had 90 minutes game for his NT and could not make the bench again. A fecking bench. This is just personal between Mou and Miki and it's just not right.

It will be sad when he's tearing it up for Juventus and we'll continue to struggle in attack. "But he wasn't mentally strong enough!"

No way. His value has dropped since he hasn't been playing at all.
Liverpool sold Benteke and recouped the 32m. Mkhitaryan at 27m was a bargain and he will have a lot of clubs lining up to buy him if we choose to sell.

I don't know what everyone is getting so upset about anyway. We need to trust the manager and his decisions. This isn't another Moyes situation. Mourinho has won everything more times than once, so who are we to question his judgment?

I'd rather sack the entire squad than sack Mourinho.

So the first season he won't play him at all - the second season he will magically come to life ? Does anyone seriously expect that ? We are not talking about an 17 year old here, we are talking about an experienced international who was the best player in the Bundesliga last year.

Benteke still played some games and scored some goals for Liverpool (not that Crystal Palace didn't overpay either). Mhkitaryan has done feck all, any club would be stupid to buy him for the same fee as before.

I've come to the conclusion that something was said by the player that's not gone down well after the city game. I reckon he'll continue to train to keep his fitness up but will be sold in Jan. Let's be honest, if he is not injured he sold be on the bench. Not even making that tells you his days are numbered here...

Mkhitaryan is probably one of the top 3 ugliest players in the team.

May aswell say something that's not been said 20 times already in this thread.

Would love to see him in the ten channel. Or maybe mata in the ten and him on the wing.

It's been like 4 months... And it's only 27m.

Something has obviously happened behind the scenes from that City game. Whether the lad said something or did something I dont know. But there is no way this lad would not be a better alternative to an out of form Martial, Lingard or Depay. Very frustrating this guy is not involved. Gone in January

It's all hypothetic of course. I don't think we will sell and I honestly think (hope) he'll come good at some point. Just saying if the current trend continues, clubs would be stupid to buy him from at the same fee we got him from Dortmund

Mkhitaryan was excellent yesterday, an easy 9.3.

Seriously though, Arsenal was definitely the wrong game to bring him back. He'll come good, just wait and see.

Well, he's already played, albeit a short amount, so no, I do not expect Mhiki's progress to unfold in the manner you highlighted.

My point is that it is too early to write him off from Mourinho's perspective, based in everything Mourinho has said so far. He bought Mhiki knowing he was a second season player, thus the Willian comparison. As long as he gets minutes this season and improves/adapts, he'll get more time. If not, he shouldn't be here anyway and will rightfully be sold.

Why would other clubs be stupid for buying him? We're the stupid ones for not playing him!

I doubt Dortmund would sell him for 50M if they weren't forced by the player/contract.

Surely you're not serious.
Mourinho certainly has a great record but don't ignore his failures. He's not the "Special One" anymore. There's a new breed of young coaches that are as good, if not better.
You only need to look at how well Chelsea are playing now.

Buying him at the same price as Utd bought him when he would have barely kicked a football would be stupid. Not playing him is another (stupid) matter.

Absolutely right.

Bring him on in the last minute against Feyenoord, blame him for not playing well and leave him out from the squad for the rest of the season.

There're a lot of ways this can happen. Struggle to adapt, confidence goes down. It's not like Mourinho has frozen him out, he's still training with the first team and travelling with the squad. The manager just reckon him not up to pace at the moment to play ahead of these "out of forms" options or even those hardly play much like Memphis or Young. This can happen in football and we have seen similar situations before at United.

I don't think Mkh is superb but he is very good player and 10x better than Rooney.

Jose's treatment of his is a disgrace and I really wouldn't care if Jose was sacked tomorrow, he is extremely unlikeable most of the time!

Agree with most of this cept for the sacking..he needs time.....Miki could be a great player for United and not sure why he is getting so much slagging....all he needs is games to gel with the team and for some reason he is not getting it. Rooney is shit, Pogba has been underwhelming, and Rashford is wasted on the left yet Mourinho publicly calls out Miki for his play...ridiculous.

Needs to start against feyenoord imo.

He won't start against West Ham on Sunday.

I'm glad to see the support for Mkhi is growing. People are seeing through the lies about his newly created shortcomings.

After hearing Jose's criticism of Smalling and Shaw for not playing whilst injured, I think its quite likely that Mkhi was "pressured" into playing Man City, perhaps against his own judgement.
He aggravated the injury, played poorly and was hooked at half time.
Considering the circumstances, if Jose then gave Mkhi the "hair dryer" in front of his team mates during the break I can imagine Mkhi telling him to "get effed".

So justified or not, I think Jose will not tolerate a player standing up to him. This looks like a punishment and a clear message to everyone that if Jose treats you like a bitch, you better take it like a bitch.
Otherwise you're out !

Its only a theory but its more believable than the excuses being spewed up, week after week.

As with any player who is 'unfairly' not getting games, if the manager thought starting him or having him on the bench would help win us games it would be happening. It's Jose's job on the line here.

If he's not in the team yet it will be for a valid reason which we aren't privy to.

Even if Mkhitaryan was the most feeble, self pitying person on earth, he still wouldn't feel as sorry for himself as some of you lot do for him. It's embarrassing.

Jose had good things to say about him recently saying he would have a good career here etc. If there is an ongoing feud it's only a matter of time before Raiola gets mixed in.
