One of those players that you never see play well, but always hear about how good he is "Given the proper chances".

I feel like I'm reliving the Kagawa dilemma. Little guy with supposedly a tonne of skill and ability, but you never see it. Then half the caf moans about how he never gets chances and the other half moans about the half moaning about his lack of chances. I need a drink.

He'll have his time. I think Mourinho firstly wanted him to man up a bit and step up to the tenacity and pace of the league. He then responded to the criticism badly and that's an even bigger step back in Mourinho's eyes. He'll settle in, get up to speed and be a useful player.

Football exists outside of United and he's shown his ability before coming here. That's why people are hoping he shows the same here.

He seemed to have a good second half, some nice touches and a decent free kick. In fairness there was loads of space for him to play and the opposition didnt do much to close him down. That first half though looked like amateur hour.

People said the same about Kagawa, despite him having plenty of chances and never showing his true worth.

But Mkhitaryan is not actually playing, he has what 2 subs appearances and then gets knocked by the manager. Kagawa also never got starts in his best position, CAM because of Rooney

I hope so!

I suspect this is what Mourinho wanted to see, or hear, from him. I think it'll do him plenty of favours with Jose. Hopefully it's starting to click with the players now exactly what is expected from them.

I suspect what Jose wants to see is a reaction. So when he gets 20 minutes, irrespective of scoreline / competition etc, he looks interested and looks like is attempting to force Mourinho's hand. Not walk on the field, sloping about looking uninterested and slowly moving the ball sideways and occasionally to the opponent, thus confirming "he cant cope with the intensity".

And Kagawa showed his worth under SAF.

So disheartening... What was the point of signing him ffs

Only really two viable options as ridiculous as they sound. Part of the Raoila trio, or preventing him to join Arsenal / Liverpool.

Turning out to be a worse transfer than Memphis and that's saying something.

100% He will leave in January in my mind now, sad thing is there will be no shortage of takers for him.

Will be sold sooner rather than later - Memphis is getting on the bench ahead of him FFS!

Over reaction, he was never going to play in this game. We have lots of games coming up, if he doesn't play any of those then we should get worried.

Young got also in front of him on the bench, Lingard too, shock horror

I think this thread needs locking, bumping performances threads to express kneejerk reactions shouldnt be tolerated on here.

People have been saying this for ages. Whatever it is, pretty evident that Mourinho doesn't have confidence in him. Maybe that will change, but the way it's going, will be if we get a load of injuries.

He won't be sold at all, we'll see him over the coming weeks....

You guys honestly, genuinely thought he would start this game? ffs.

Just don't understand wasting so much money on a player you don't intend to play, or aren't 100% committed to.

He should at least make the bench today, in my opinion. He's never going to adjust to the PL without actually playing games.
