Didn't Wenger or Raiola say Arsenal were in advanced talks to sign him but then United stepped in? Would not surprise me if Mou didn't really want him but signed him to stop a rival getting him - he's done it before.
You lots with your conspiracy theories

Ah yes, lacking match fitness, so just leave him out today and let him gain match fitness on the training pitch...that definitely adds up.

Im still of the view that he hasnt settled in. A bit like ADM, maybe he just hasnt taken to England/Manchester. Or maybe its the expectation at Utd, he wouldnt be the first to strain under it. But if it's match fitness he needs, surely put him on the bench and play him for 30 mins??

Mou's treatment of Cuadrado and Schurrle shows that he has very little patience for players who take time to adapt. I really hope im wrong, as he is the key to our right wing, but it's not looking good.

If he's not ready to play, why did Mourninho say he was ready in his press conference?

From what respect? Mourinho not fancying him?

He's a top name in his own right, his bundesliga exploits were top class last season.

He is a top name but I said from the very beginning he is not a English league winger and that this signing only made sense if we used him as a 10 which Mourinho hasn't shown any intention of using him there yet.

I found it a strange signing where there was no clear position for him because I didn't see him as a winger despite other people being convinced he's a Wideman.

Type of player who would excel out wide at a arsenal but at united we need players who beat men from a standing start with lots of physicality and he doesn't fit United or Jose wide player mould.

I think he will get a shot once he is properly fit but my overall vibe with this signing is that I don't see it working out unless he plays centrally.

Not match fit? And how is he supposed to get match fit if he can't even make the squad?
If Mourinho doesn't trust him to make his comeback from the bench tonight then he surely won't on Sunday. I don't think there is anything dodgy going on but I would like to see him in soon as I think he could be key, especially in tight matches which Mourinho teams have a lot of.

Yeah its strange that if he isn't match fit, then just put him on the bench and give him 20 minutes at the end.

Called it early on but I wouldn't be surprised if this signing was done to please Raiola.
Honestly this sounds like a really dumb theory

So we sign Mkhitaryan for £27m just so Raiola lets us sign out of contract Ibrahimovic for £200k+ a week and Pogba for £90m. Yeah...makes zero sense

Mourinho thought Benzema wasn't good enough, Pepe was done and Marcelo wasn't a top fullback... just to name a few. I won't even mention his treatment of Mata while at Chelsea. He got a few right too.

Point is, he's missed a few lol.

Which would be infuriating to say the least. We're spending fortunes to get back to the top, but our failure rate on transfers is staggering - Fellaini, Mata, BSF, ADM, Scnhederlin, Darmian, Memphis, Rojo - we cant just be throwing this kind of money down the drain. What's worse is that we sell terribly, so the unthinkable should happen, and we need to sell him, another team will pick him up at a bargain price.

If you look at Mourinho's track record.. he's signed Mendes players just to keep his agent happy. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Mkhitaryan was seen as a sweetener and someone who could also be a good signing as well.

Incredibly frustrating. We just lack thoroughness and fail to look at players in a holistic sense to see if they have the lifestyle, mentality, physicality, tactical /technical ability to feature in the first team at United. Constantly pissing money away on players which don't strike me as United quality players.

Are you crazy? He's a world class player, this wasn't done to please Raiola. He will come good.

not exclusively to please Raiola.. whereas Zlatan and Pogba were players who Mourinho really wanted and planned around them.

Lets say we didnt sign Mkhitaryan...do you think Ibra and Juventus/Pogba would be rejecting our moves? The guy has been injured, its not that complicated. No need for these stupid theories

What the hell is going on with him? He hasn't gotten 40 minutes in total since teh start of the season.

Jose was pictured multiple times watching him last season even before he got United job.

Such a conspiracy theory would require so many people involved in it that it's not really plausible at all.

Common sense people.

Reminds me of Firmino from the first half of last season. It took him five or six months to find his feet then he settled and started contributing regularly. Give it a few months before you start to worry. Mkhitaryan like Firmino is a class player and if you show a bit of patience he'll start to look the part eventually (assuming Mourinho can get the best out of him).

Did Firminho also get written off after
15 min
16 min
31 min
Got injured in international
45 mins vs city (injury came back)
missed games till now

Did Firminho also have that? people making conspiracy theories when he only played just over 100 mins of football

Doesn't he have anyone to go to the match with? Seems like he's just sat with a United official cause he has to.

Very strange Mourinho started him vs City considering he was only bought to appease Raiola

Calm down FFS! He's been here 3 months, he will get his chances. Mourinho wants to play those who've been around training and really fit. The game's too important to him

I'm sure some questions were asked early on as is always the case when a large amount of money is spent on a player and then the player doesn't hit the ground running. Fans should be more patient with signings but sometimes it doesn't happen for some reason.

Firmino had the trust of Klopp, though and got lots of minutes. The armenian has neither. I predicted Taryan to have a rough season under Mou if he fails to deliver instantly, and got mocked for it good.
This lad needs to feel the indisputable support of his coach, and lots of time on the field. Well, good luck with that, after JM already fed him to the wolves in public. The pampering Tuchel gave him won't happen, as JM can't stand mentally fragile players. As it looks now, he's behind Lingard, Young and Depay in the pecking order. HM won't get many chances to redeem himself, and he's not known as someone who copes with pressure well.

Thx @Slevs, corrected

Yeah true enough. Klopp even said he rated Firmino from the German league as well when he was at Hoffenheim. I'm not sure Mkhitaryan is necessarily behind Young and Depay though.

There's a fair bit of embarrassment in here.

You don't win a players player of the year award in a league unless you're a top, top player. All judgement about his performances for us should be kept to people's selves until he's had a run in the team, which he will get.

Signing one of the most creative players in the bundlesliga with an exceptionally high goal contribution rate just to please his agent , I mean come on.

Fair enough, didn't know that.

He's barely played more than one match in terms of minutes and we have all sorts of shit in this thread. Yeah a player Mourinho trusted to start vs City is behind Young and Depay :wenger:

He's coming back from injury. People need to think a little before posting shit theories

I don't disagree, but I was defending him too y'know. ;)

Surely you can't have missed JM's statements regarding HM after the City match. Lingard made the starting 11, Depay the bench, and a HM who's been in training for 3 weeks is not in the squad.
Doesn't take a genius to add 2+2.

Sorry what did he say about HM after City? I think I did miss it

Also from my understanding Mourinho said Mkhitaryan isn't match fit yet so hasn't been included. I also assume he trusts him over the likes of depay considering Mou picked him vs City
