And m afraid you need to take stock of where we are at. Both Liverpool and city are 2-3 seasons ahead at this point in my opinion

Simple, they have the 2 best coaches in the world and everything is following. Actually that’s not correct, it follows Klopp. City hired the DoF from Barca and he got everything ready for Pep. So Pep had an advantage in that the DoF who was already there not only paved the way, he started targeting players he knew Pep would like.

RM, after winning their league by a mile and winning the Champions League for the 4854th time, didn't waste any time signing Tchouameni for 80M+ to add to their midfield of Modric, Kroos, Casemiro, Camavinga, Valverde, Ceballos. They had a serious competition in PSG for Tchouameni but got their business done no nonsense.
Tottenham, after finishing 4th and looking better and better under Conte and getting their winter transfer window spot on, have signed Perisic as a free agent presumably to play as Conte's wingback and are wrapping up Bissouma for a mere 25M. They're apparently also going after Richarlison to add to their world class front line of Kane/Son/Kulusevski, and Spence to their defense. Kane is reportedly now willing to sign a new contract.
Our board needs at least a couple months to enjoy their summer off before they put in some serious work. They're human beings just like us after all. They're also being generous to F. Romano by not signing anyone so that Romano can keep ctrl + v on his twitter "United still interested in FDJ. No deal yet" until September 1. What great human beings our board members are. You know that it's physically impossible to pursue multiple transfer targets simultaneously. I mean, how does that even work? Cloning?

So what makes United not "have" what you think City and Liverpool have.
As we genuinely have a bigger stadium, bigger fanbase, bigger revenue generation machine, we pay bigger wages, we pay bigger signing fees
What's that they have, we don't have, because it seems we have everything at par or even better than them up untill we come to player's and coaching.
Who are these people handling coaching and player's recruitment?
They have reduced United to mere spectators when it comes to on-field success but very big hitters on wages payments, signings payments, match attendance numbers, global fanbase.
We have no reason not to compete with Liverpool or City, because we compete with them in everything else except playing football which should be the first agenda of United.

But this is about the structure and pursuit of their targets and getting business done early. We don't overlap with City and Liverpool for Timber or Antony or Pau Torres or De Jong. Just Nunez.

It doesn't make an ounce of difference to me if players are signed last day of previous season or the day before pre-season starts.
And no, not all clubs get their transfers sorted before pre-season, as can be easily proven by recent history. Usually clubs negotiate to lower prices and save money so they can buy more/higher quality players.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t, we obviously should. However there is no other coach currently working on the same level as Klopp and pep. Neither of them were interested in coming to United. Then we signed a succession of coaches and players with no forethought about what’s coming next
We did get arguably the most thought off young coach in Europe and he deserves a chance to get going. His coaching team is good.
Murtough and OBoyle are new to their role at United. At the Premier League, O'Boyle was responsible for advising clubs on talent identification and recruitment, performance analysis, sports science and medicine, psychology, and loan management.
Woody is gone. A huge cancer on this club. He hasn’t a clue what he was doing aside from making sponsors sign. the sporting side was allowed to deteriorate.
we should give the new team a bit of time to see what they can do now, let the DoFs start targetting and planning for future windows. Let the coaching staff get stuck in.
As for the glazers we are stuck until they decide to feck off. No amount of moaning on a forum board is going to shift them. And yes, they will be a noose around our necks in terms of really modernising this club.
so until such times as they leave, let’s get behind our team and hope that they can get the team ready for a time when the likes of Liverpool and city drop the ball. Let’s recognise where we are and make damn sure we’re undisputed third in the league, ready to pounce, getting closer and closer

The issue most people have about the "new" people running the club is.. we take from the start of last season
1. Not signing a midfielder in 2021 summer window.
2. Not selling Lingard, Pogba, Henderson 2021 summer. We knew as fans they wouldn't renew was the club so blinded?
3. Not sacking Ole in due time.
4. Appoint Ralf as an interim, where he's not good at, then dismiss his assertion on where he's best at.
5. Giving Bruno improved contract in the midst of the worst season ever. Reason of improved contract "on-field success".
6. With over 6 players leaving on 2022 summer window who have brought ZERO cash to the club.
7. With just like 1 week to pre season and with a big rebuild to be done, we have done zero business. No buying or selling. Zero. We have done no business. All the players leaving are free transfer.
If you don't see the pattern then you're blinded.
The behavior is the same.
Because the people running the show are still the same people who were there from 2013.
Nothing is going to change.
Re. The bolded. For the people here doing their Comical Ali’s, there should be the question put to them as to why the premier team in the country have such a mantra. Why exactly are they rushing out to do their business as expeditiously as possible; perhaps it has bearing on how these players settle and are ready to perform and isn’t for shits and giggles. Perhaps.
And these clubs can afford to have a few stragglers coming in later in the window because they have 1/4 of the work we need doing over this pre-season.
Zero incomings and zero outgoings. 10 days before pre season starts. We are doing great....
