Have we signed anyone yet? | Yes, with stupid tax

Thinking logically about it, ETH had discussions before he joined wanting assurances.

There's no way he's come in without those assurances and therefore we must be working on targets he wants. We're currently only linked with FDJ heavily, with some talk about Timber and Nunez in the background.

I'm taking it as a positive that the leaks have stopped and that we'll see something accelerate quickly once the nations league is over.

Ten Hags about to find out how behind we are other clubs when it comes to transfers.

My own opinion, but I think we will only sign FDJ (hopefully) and an RB before pre-season starts. I think Erik will want to see what he can do with this squad on the tour. If Martial (for example) is still walking around, rather than running, then he’ll hit the panic button with time still left in the window.

When do these internationals finish?

I just can't see any form of movement until at least 1-2 weeks after they are done.

We should go for Lautaro Martinez. He would play well with Ronaldo I feel like and score a decent amount himself as well. Runs around a ton. Won’t be as expensive as Nunez etz either

Well if it happened within the first week then it would imply we probably have a deal with someone already agreed and just waiting for the Internationals to finish.

I don’t think we have, so it’ll probably mean a couple of weeks of negotiations post internationals.

I’m strictly hypothesising though.

Hopefully we get:
De Jong
Ibrahim Sangare
Christopher Nkunku
Jurrien Timber.
Realistic and amazing business.

Six out and none in. Four weeks till pre season tour. Nothing has changed as far as i can see.

Totally agree. I was expecting given the numbers leaving we would at least get a couple of free signings or gambled. Instead the links are €80m targets of De Jong and Nunez. If we signed both that’s around £140/150m which this club doesn’t spend. Until the fans come together to oust these shocking owners nothing will change.

We need at least 5 new faces this summer. They don’t have to be world class and that’s my annoyance with our squad builds. The squad needs refreshing and I would happily get rid of another 6 players in that squad. Everything has stagnated at United.

No he will be forced to see what he has to use by our incompetent management. It’s clear this group of players aren’t good enough. For a lot of them this is now their 3rd, 4th or 5th chance to prove themselves.

That's the hope. It'll be horrific planning (again!) if United fly to Australia/Asia in a months time without any new signings.

However, apparently the main staff are on holiday from today, for a couple of weeks. And although people say "its the 2020's, they can use technology" it never works like that. Signings don't get done (for United) until everyone's reported back to Carrington.

There was always going to be this gap between the season ending, where the nations league drags everything out, meaning nothing happens.

I can't think of any player that is playing nations league and has signed for someone. All were mainly hearing each day is how close certain clubs are to other players, without anything being finalised. I'd expect things to speed up this time next week

Don’t expect anything to change. Martial has made it abundantly clear he doesn’t want to play for us once his loan finishes with Sevilla.

A lot of players playing in euro nations league and others on holiday. Transfers may not be until they all return to their clubs for training.

According to the MEN, players from all over the world are sending messages to ETH as well as the fans. Most of these messages seem to be routed through the MEN's sports desk.

Are staff involved in transfers really going on vacation now? I doubt it.

Tomorrow is the beginning of the period in which players can be registered. It has zero bearing on a club's ability to conduct transfer business.
My point is that perhaps we may have done a few sneaky deals that we won’t hear about until they are being registered

Knew it wouldn't be long before stories like this, about having to polish a turd, were doing the rounds

United took a big L here if he signs for a Liverpool and we were far too late to the game.

Klopp was tapping his ass up months ago when they played them.

I bet we’re monitoring players so hard right now. Just monitoring the shit out of everything.

Yea, but are they monitoring anyone really hard right now? Some one is getting so monitored right now.

Same shit every time we get a new manager. "Maybe the deadwood isn't actually that bad, let's give them another chance!"

Starting to get concerning now. If we don’t start the incomings by next week it will start to look like a shambles again, considering that we need a minimum of 5 players in, ideally before pre season starts.
Would be unforgivable from the Glazers if not enough was done this summer again.

Again...has to be said...once RR said what 90% of our fan base have known for years...that we need a huge overhaul and new blood with proper hunger...he talked himself out of the club. The party line is slow and steady and maximise the potential we have...it concerns me greatly that he spoke to ETH, presumably communicated what he already had said in public, and ETH still came out and said “this team finished second a few seasons back”...

it’s quite worrying.

With a grand total of 7 premiership teams making a signing so far, and most of these being players who were already on loan or squad additions...

...we are definitely in danger of being left behind   :wenger:

Yep, almost a decade of the same nonsense. Players who have been rubbish, disinterested, or found to be lacking the required mentality are magically going to transform in to world beaters because we've changed managers again. I guess it's easier to believe in miracles than accept the realization that we're not a club committed to doing what it takes to be the very best, and never will be while the Glazers' are owners.

It is still early days however Woodward is gone. There are no further room for excuses now. Our football people have ro deliver.
