Has political correctness actually gone mad?

Shit man, if I let my hair grow out it naturally becomes an afro. Now I'm milky white, almost transparent. I never realised my hair could culturally misappropriate an entire race of people. My bad.

PS: I hate Nathan Carter.

Edit: being Irish, I suppose there is a chance that I came from a family of slaves. Would this make it ok?

I think the same argument made against SJWs who attack people on social media could be made for those who immediately dismiss the idea of cultural appropriation altogether. Both are broad generalisations that neither side should make.

I think generalities are fairly just here, because I think the entire concept of cultural appropriation is largely nonsensical. In the context of a history where minority cultures faced vile and systematic attempts at complete irradication, the idea of this kind of cultural protectionism seems bizarre to me. Plus of course every culture is just an amalgam of other older cultures anyway which it itself 'appropriated' from.

I think anyone that has dreadlocks and isn't a glamorous white female is probably gonna look like they smell of weed. There's also probably a reasonable chance they do, white or black.

There was this classic, don't know if it's been mentioned in the past few pages.

He looks like he smells of weed. In fact he actually looks a bit like weed.

Looks more like he smells of pee.

She should have been suspended from the University for her treatment of the dreadlocked guy.

I'm not going to go back and forth between various people because in their opinion the concept of cultural appropriation is "nonsensical" or "stupid" - there's no point.

I simply offered an alternative view that hey, maybe, just maybe people's culture is important to them, even though that culture or that person's opinion isn't important to you.

Whatever you may think of SJWs I think telling people how they should or should not feel particularly on an issue as personal as their culture/background - when you aren't a part of that culture/background yourself, is also in pretty poor taste.

But like I said i'm not going to continue going back and forth.

I'm just confused by why being proud of your culture means wanting to stop other people adopting parts of it. Especially if your culture came under decades/centuries of attack, isn't it a victory if anything if it then becomes mainstream?

An example -
Kylie Jenner got dreadlocks about a year or so ago - and all the fashion magazines praised her "new" "edgy" "zany" look.
Zendaya (black/mixed race actress) also got dreadlocks not so long afterwards - those same fashion magazines said she looked like smelled like weed.
Is that even true though? I can find only one such comment by someone called Giuliana Rancic on a tv show. You need more to make such a sweeping statement.
That bit about dreadlocks smelling like weed often gets aimed at "white, hippy" types who get dreadlocks, it's sort of a stereotype.
Indeed.

It's like hipsters complaining about their undiscovered bands being underrated, and when they make it big they're not cool anymore.

I fecking hate this generation of utter bellends that loves to find things to get outraged at.
Respect my right to be outraged at whatever the DM tells me to get in a lather about through their aggressive use of CAPITAL LETTERS.

Will you stop wearing pants and shirt because a white man claims cultural appropriation? We are a global village now, products are sold globally. It's not Elvis Presley stealing the black music you know, just about wearing sarees and sporting dreadlocks.

Ah, sacking demands. As old as twitter outrage. Just recently there were requests to YCombinator to sever its ties with Peter Thiel, architect of Gawker's downfall, because of his Trump support. Led by that genius behind Reddit's golden ye..months, Ellen Pao.

And seemingly supported by the Guardian. Quelle surprise- the left wing press can be as rabid and self-serving as the right.

Too many blacks in the panto for Mr angry from Sevenoaks.

After being shocked by his complaint, they tried to reassure him the show featured a mix of actors from all backgrounds.
His reaction was: "Yes, but there are still five of them."

Ahh, yes, the yearly outrage that students have competitions as to who can have the most inappropriate costume competition.
As regular a fixture as nubile young A level students jumping for joy on results day.

If someone is getting upset by seeing someone else wearing a Geisha or Indian costume at a Halloween party, he needs to get it act together. Something must have gone seriously wrong at his upbringing.

Things have gone seriously wrong in many of our upbringings. For some, relentlessly facing racism, which can inhibit one's ability to view certain things in the ill-concerned manor that the majority can.

Bend the world around their own warped worldviews.

Does it matter that there isn't a Mexican alive, or dead, who gives a shit if whitey turns up to a Halloween party in a sombrero? Nope. And since when were the Japanese an oppressed minority?
1942?

I'm increasingly starting to wonder if hobbers is actually a radical PC lefty, determined to undermine the opposition cause.
