There may be, but the point is Leciester and their scouts probably don't think there is (well I am presuming) but they took a hit on that talented Turkish guy last season and he hardly played and looked out of his depth when he did. 70 Million is loads for Maguire - far past his value but Leciester ( a rich enough club) are probably looking at it and thinking well what would we even do with the money and therefore would rather keep the player.
I like Maguire (maybe not enough for 70m..) but a Lindelof - Maguire partnership doesn't strike me with confidence.

Positives: maguire is very good on the ball, has a deep playmaker ability.

I don't mind signing him but we are getting fleeced here.
But its true. Smalling is one of the best in the air. Its his main attribute.
I think the argument from our board back then was we literally just gave you Lindelof and Bailly... now it is clear that Bailly can't be relied upon along with Smalling and Jones.
He's a good player, would he be our best defender? yes! But would it be a significant improvement? not really, so do we want to pay more than 70mil for him?

He will help to teach us Southgate's conga routine from the WC, once we have that nailed The Slab will be banging them in from set-pieces.

Dominant in the air, decent passing, he’s got a cool head and is brave in braking trough lines with the ball at his feet. 70 is a lot, of course, but realistically we’d have to pay around that for a ready made upgrade in that position. He scores some goals during the season too.

A partnership of Linderlof and Maguire doesnt exactly bring much confidence. I can imagine us getting caught in behind constantly.
out of all the defenders we are linked with Maguire is the one I don't want. God forbid if we try to play a high line or a high pressing game. Slow as a wet week.

I’m all for it. We’d only need another CM and hopefully a right sided attacker (provided Pogba stays put). RB, CB, CM and RW/RM was my wishlist going into the new season.

I think he's overpriced but would definitely improve us. We need a leader at the back so badly.

You have to pick your games. Maguire and lindelofs supposed ball playing ability should be a dream ticket in games where the opposition shows zero attacking intent.
