There are a couple in the Maguire mould they could be looking at. Kempf at Stuttgart or Eboa Eboa at Guingamp.
There is Jhon Lucumi at Genk as well who I am waiting for someone to roll the dice on. There is so much potential there.
I think our back line has been at the very least an equally large issue, I'd argue it's the main source of our problems due to a lack of technical quality back there totally jarring with how we try to play, both in our FBs who get more space than anyone else and our CBs who start (limply) almost every move.
We scored 65 last year, not great but not miles off, we conceded 54. GD 11 which is almost half of our competitors.
Both need overhaul and recruitment but I think it's very likely that our midfield and forwards are being severely hampered by the lack of quality at the back.
Not saying slabhead solves that problem, I'm a fan of his but 70m is the absolute max I'd pay and even that makes me gag a little.
Agreed. Leave it at 70 mil and start bidding on an alternative as well.According to BBC we bid but Leicester hasn’t reject it but they do value him higher, I would say don’t take the bait and keep it as £70m. If they say no then so be it. They should accept it, it’s crazy fees for a centre back.
Why do people expect Leicester to just bend over and sell their best players? If they have no reason to sell, which they don't, then they have every right to reject £70m
Well Koulibaly isn't for sale so....If we're paying more than £75/80m for Slab then I'd rather we just fork out for Koulibaly.
That’s only £50m net70m + Phil Jones
Positives: maguire is very good on the ball, has a deep playmaker ability.
He is great in the air
He is English and a leader
Might offer them another 5m in add ons but if they reject that try a 85m bid for Koulibaly.
And we have every right to move on.
The Ice Slab partnership. I like the ring of it.I like Maguire (maybe not enough for 70m..) but a Lindelof - Maguire partnership doesn't strike me with confidence.
I think either require a pacy, robust player next to them. Ironically Diop-Maguire would be excellent, imo
Well Koulibaly isn't for sale so....
He's always been good enough, it's just whether he's good enough to justify the kind of fee that Leicester wants, which personally I don't believe he is.Is he now good enough now that it's not Mourinho getting him?
That link or picture or whatever it is don't work, not sure what it is but if it is any kind of stat suggesting Mike Smalling is better than Maguire in the air, whoever made it up needs their head testing.

I'd say he'd make us a threat from corners, but the ball would have to reach him first...
Am I correct in saying Jose wanted Maguire last summer and the board refused to sanction the bid.
Ed was reported to have said that we could sanction that kind of money for a player like Varane but couldn't justify that kind of money for Maguire iirc
Seems strange we are willing to sign him now
70m + Phil Jones
Funny I think that too. Diop will cost less and has a higher ceiling.Diop.
This has the Lukaku feeling to it.Not good enough for UTD.Imho.
A partnership of Linderlof and Maguire doesnt exactly bring much confidence. I can imagine us getting caught in behind constantly.
