Not a mention of this new bid on Sky since, their sources wrong again?

Karveh was completely unprofessional even by their standards, went on about how they always multi-source things then came out with how a single source had told him you had today bid £80m

After a couple of seasons at most people will be talking about him in the same terms as VVD, so he will attract interest from other European giants

VVD is much quicker and this helps him defend counters. Maguire is a very good defender and carries the ball better than VVD but can't defend like VVD.

If we sign him and Leicester get Dunk we should be calling Brighton up and offering them Rojo, Jones or Darmian. Surely they can use someone of them?

Now to Maguire, hope we get him, hard to believe we are supposedly gonna sign him, Bruno and Dybala in the coming week. Can't stop thinking about his agents picture from inside of Carrington (?) so something must be close no?

latest was if you signed Maguire and we decided to bring someone it, it would be Tarkowski not Dunk we went for

Where all this “90m” bs has come from? Wasn’t it 80m?

80m is about 90m euro, maybe that’s the reason?

If United do sign him for the reported £80m it will be on a 5 year deal with an option for a 6th.

So with him being 26 if he’s good for us he won’t be leaving for any other European giant or anywhere until he’s 32. At which point I doubt it would happen anyway.

What fecking European giant would be looking to sign him ?

We are the only club that daft

feel free I cannot remember signing someone who acted like a twat to force a move to us and I wouldn't have wanted to sign them if they did so if you can pull one out I have forgotten then by all means

Yorke
Berbatov
Tevez
Rojo
Herrera (didn't happen in the end but was left out of their squad when a transfer was imminent)
RVP (repeatedly made it know where he wanted to go to Wenger)

Just to name a few. Harry needs to start making it known he wants to go. No polite I don't mind etc etc..

If the club bid 80 million for Maguire, I'M going to have the shits.

A new world record by a huge margin for a defender. We've also just commited £125 million + 5 million pounds in add-ons to strengthen our defense this off-season.

Talk about backing.

I'm not the one who suggested it mate.

But to be fair Real Madrid once signed Woodgate.

Could well be less if we then sell Darmian, Rojo, Tuanzebe or whoever else we might sell.

Maguire really does need to strike at this point and force the move.

Many don't like Rojo too much but atleast he threw a wobbler to come here and even spoke about dancing around the house when he found out United were interested in him.

If Harry did half the strike Rojo did he'd be ours in a day.

Let’s not care about the price tags any more. Let’s just get him, he makes us better, if we don’t get him the owners pocket the money. But your right I don’t think any one can ever say the board hasn’t backed the managers

For this amount of money I'm sure we could throw it at clubs for other players too.

They may not be English but there are a few other candidates to make offers for.

Yorke
Berbatov

I'm a Leicester fan so none of those are relevant to my point

Don’t think Harry needs to go on strike. If he really wants the move, he and his agent just need to argue that the new offer, if true, is more than fair and he’d be devastated/demotivated if it wasn’t accepted. Do Leicester want to keep an unhappy player?

Paul Ince was pictured wearing a united top whilst still at west ham

Way to go Woody.....play hardball all summer only to cave into their demands after most of pre season is over.

Could have just paid the fee weeks ago. What have he actually accomplished by waiting so long? Leicester haven't budged.

I suspect the new offer, if true, still doesn’t meet Leicester’s demand.

I think Harry is far too professional and respectful to behave in a petulant way, thankfully. Still no concrete or reliable sources confirming this atm, feckin groundhog day.

I agree that I don’t think Harry will be ‘petulant’, in the sense of going on strike, but I could well see him making his position clear if this latest offer, still to be confirmed, is true - IF he really wants the move. So many if’s and but’s.

Having said that I can kind of see that we may have gone back in with an improved offer. It would be perfectly reasonable for you to have told us that, unless we re-bid by 1st August, then any further talks are off - as that gives you a week to source a replacement. So going back in today would not surprise me.

I totally agree and there's a big difference between toys out and expressing a desire.
I also feel the time limit thing is a must to d/w the chain reaction if it happens.
I genuinely have no idea how this will unfold, neither outcome would surprise me, interesting few days ahead!

Well, we haven’t a clue either mate. Good luck for the season either way.

Safe to say now Sky are probably wishing they didn't say what they said, no mention at all of it since and nowhere else mentioning anything even remotely similar

They kept Mahrez around awhile after he wanted out. I don't think it would be that surprising if they keep Maguire if he's behaving civilly behind the scenes. It's one reason I don't blame players for throwing a fit to get a transfer. Sometimes that's the only way to make it happen.

Throwing a fit in Jan is completely different to doing in the summer. Also making noise in June as opposed to the last week of the window also makes a difference.

He is asking for players who moved to Leicester by acting like a 'twat'.

I fear a world record fee would put too much pressure and expectation on Maguire to have an effect on our team like Van Dijk did to Liverpool. It's why I'd rather we move on if the fee is £80 million+.

I honestly reckon he would cope with the price tag,the guy just seems like he takes everything in his stride and reckon he will relish the challenge of playing for Utd.

Yeah, but he won't. Maguire has had 2 years to force a move and hasn't, why would anyone expect him to now? He's seemingly fine playing out his career / contract at Leceister, so good for him. The embarrassing part is that United has no backup targets and continues to get drug along by both a club that doesn't want / need to sell and a player who while isn't against joining, is just as fine not joining. In a situation like this, the buying club has no leverage and either pays up, or moves on. We've tried to call Leceister's bluff for 2 years and they don't blink. Move on. Oh wait, Ed's left it once again to the end of the window which means every day that goes by we are less and less likely to sign a CB. Again.
