Leicester have fecked themselves here. We're never going to meet the £90m evaluation so they're going to be stuck with a player who's had his head turned and won't perform anywhere near a quality standard and will end up selling him for less next summer, presuming we or anyone else even come back in for him. Daft.

Oh I agree in that respect. I can understand his concerns, but his concerns will be less than lets say a Dybala?

This window is looking like our worst ever transfer window considering what our rivals team is looking like.

I will eat my hat if Dybala ends up at United and doesn't totally DiMaria up the place. We look like his only option for an exit from a club he wants to stay at, it's Angel all over again.

Yeah I agree - our strategy is totally reliant on Harry kicking up one hell of a stink, which doesn't look like happening.

It's just tactics from years ago that don't wash with other clubs any more, as they don't need the money.

Maguire might hand in a transfer request, but what does Woodward expect? That Leicester will all of a sudden cack themselves and accept a bid lower than they want? They won't. They will be stubborn, keep him and play him. He's not going to jeopardise his England career by downing tools, so the only way you get him is by paying the money.

Not true. No manager wants to keep a player that has handed in a transfer request and has told the club and his teammates he wants to leave and he'll be unhappy if they price him out of a move. A toxic work environment will ruin any positive momentum you've built all preseason.

We may become a place where he makes a name for himself (bigger name than he still has). To be in the shadows of Ronaldo is no good for someone who wants to be a leader of the club - at United he may very well become a star man. All depends on his ambition

And in relation to Maguire - about time for him to hand in a transfer request and inform the media that he is pissed at the club hierarchy over denying him a dream move. Without serious help from Maguire’s end it doesn’t look to be finalized at all

Worked well for Neymar that theory.

The age gap between the 2 is 9 years, isn't it? Rumour has it he doesn't really want to leave - I imagine the plan would be to soak as much of Ronaldo up as possible, while playing with those new guys who are much better than the players he'd play with at United, then take over if he's good enough in a year's time.

As much as it might be seen as a United fan being arrogant, I'm not convinced Leicester benefit from not selling him to anyone for 70m or more.

Their transfer record is 40m, for a younger more talented midfielder, Tielemans? They traditionally have a scouting network which has sourced the likes of Vardy, Kante, Mahrez, Ndidi et al.

I'm not convinced this works entirely in their favour. But we'll see. Their fans didn't seem to be hugely bothered at a fee of 70m, and are only now piping up because the statement of intent is flowing their juices. But they'll do well to break away from the Everton and Wolves squads this season imo, and yes we'll probably be closer to them that than the title too.
Exactly what I have been stating, it doesn't make sense for them to sell their best players, when they are going to want to build on last season and try to qualify for Europe.

Why should he expect anything? For all we know we might have moved on from this, no new bids are reported and only people who are taking about this are from Leicester City, saying how no bids are made that match their valuation.

Reported bid was done long back and post that no one reported any new bids

to be fair they are only saying that because they keep being asked

Maguire is the biggest waste of time and money. What is the point in spending 90m+ on a defender to play in front of Matic? Buy Nathan Ake for half that price and fix the midfield. We need to replace Matic and need someone better than Fred. Pogba is only midfielder at Utd with top quality. Tbf McTominey has been consistent and looks like he can do a job for us this season. But I struggle to see how Utd score goals without Pogba. We're too reliant on him. Rashford, Lingard etc are not clinical enough in front of goal.

Yeah I get that. I don't understand why Leicester fans and other fans are having a go at ManUtd. Its not like we made any public announcements. We made bid and it was rejected. Leicester have set the price and it's not met. That's it.

Every alternate day we see new article from Percy guy who is reliable for Leicester news and that triggers few LCFC fans.

They'd shift him if they thought for a second he'd behave badly and not perform properly, but it doesn't seem like he's that sort of character going by most reports.

on here at least its a vicious circle, they keep sniping at each other

looks like this one is dead. Damn shame, would have absolutely loved him at United - but we were never going to pay 90m for him and rightly so. Time to move on.

I think you could be right on this and a it is very sad situation:(

The club definitely knows how to get us excited for the new season. All fans saying other clubs haven't done anything but I would argue saying we have had the worst transfer of the top 10?

Chelsea - transfer ban signed 2 and have a new manager bounce.
Liverpool - slight frustration but alot of optimism after CL and 2nd place
City - Rodri and play great football
Arsenal - Media reported £40m budget so expectations was low and with Pepe coming at £60m odd and Tierney, fans are excited.
Spurs - good season and couple signings to get them excited
Everton, Wolves, Leicester - All made signings that improve the team so fans are excited.

United - Depressed fans because the club were supposedly meant to back the manager with 4/5 signings. Signed 1 player and 1 potential.

After the shit show last season, so frustrating.

United need to kill this one dead, unless Harry is going to go on strike. I wonder who the back up is. Shame though.

I’m sorry has the transfer window closed?

Except Leicester did exactly that with Mahrez the year before he left.

And United might do it with Pogba. He's not handed in a transfer request, but he's said publicly that he wants to leave.

United haven't received any bid until now. That comparison is completely nonsense.

No, but its a bit of a shame when you have a manager who was looking forward to pre season to and whip the team into shape only to get dissapointed.

glad to see some of us have some faith. What will you say after 9 days? No value in the market?

Leicester are sure going to have a very disgruntled player if this is not agreed.

we'll see in 9 days. For now ... calm down. You painted every other club in a positive light while moaning about us ... seriously?! Where have some of the other clubs strengthened? Chelsea can't bring in anyone and have sold their best player by a mile. Wolves and Leicester have not brought in a lot of players - I'd argue that Wan-Bissaka is a bigger signing for us than Cutrone or Perez, and Everton have just lost a key player in Gueye.

It's a sorry state this window, I was expecting so much from it to kickoff our rebuild, was really hoping for 5 signing, as it would have showed the owners intent to kick the rebuild off properly.

Agree with all points. Think Arsenal played it shrewd and may have voiced it to the media that they had no money so they were so easily able to sign Nicolas Pepe. Think Ndombélé is a brilliant signing for Spurs in an area where they needed it. City only needed minor adjustments and signed Rodri for what I think will turn out to be a bargain. Been saying for weeks now that Woody doesn't have long left to pull off some magic but I don't think that is the case, I think we are going to struggle going into the season as we are.

Particularly agree with the last part in bold :annoyed:

They played well last season, so they have had a better transfer window.

We've got a pacy, yet raw attacker who has looked promising in pre-season and solved our right back problem. Still have time to get one or two more in too.

Honestly I don't think there will be a backup. What's the point of signing another average player?

We've got 6 centre backs here (5 fit) and they're all "good" but not exceptional.

Lindelof +1 is enough for the majority of premier league games. Unless it's a top level player available I don't see us wasting more cash for no reason.

I would rather give Tuanzebe the minutes.

Considering we've supposedly not bothered upping our bid since our inital one, I'd say it may well already be dead.

I guess the memory of last season is just too much. We will see in 9 days time.

Except he hasn't. He said it might be the right time for a new challenge but did not specifically define that as moving to another club. Pogba is very smart with the media and if Ole makes him feel loved up and Ed kicks in a little more in a contact extension he will feel he got what he wanted. His agent has spoken about him moving on but Raiola has a long history of using that tactic to trigger contract talks.

If this is dead I wouldn't mind testing the waters for Tah or Konate. Still think this will go down to the wire.

I guess we are extra negative because of last season as well. We have seen these players for 3/4 years and the same pattern. Very inconsistent, one some days you think they are turning a corner, and the next game produce a bore with no shots on goal.

People calling me to calm down but, Jones Baily, Rojo, Lingard, Rashford, Martial, Shaw are so inconsistent because they have no competition.

We cannot fall behind from the top 2 any further, and if we do not finish top 4 this season I doubt we will have £50m to spend next year.

We have a pacy and raw winger as you say. I agree right back is sorted which is massive but we definitely need more.

I still think this will be done on the last day. We are in advanced stages of negotiating transfer fees for at least 2-3 players (both going in or out) and paying a world record fee for a defender in the middle will negatively impact our position.

Woodward may bring the check book out after securing the signatures of Bruno Fernandez, Longstaff (possibly) and Dybala (possibly).

Well if that’s the case only Zinedine Zidane should be happy with there pre-season plans as only he got all his players in on time.

Just stop being so unrealistic. You’ll be less disappointed.

I'm sure he is happy but he still wants Pogba. Also, I would like to point out their transfer window is open for 3 more weeks.

Only time will tell how his squad gels.

How am I being unrealistic? having the same squad baring AWB really is not something to look forward to considering the shot show the current squad produces on a yearly basis.
