It's funny how we were quick to shut the De Ligt rumours down, yet seem quite happy to have our name banded about over this guy, and for a fee that is just nonsensical.

I'm not into conspiracy crap, but this just has smokescreen written all over it, as there is not a chance we actually going to pay that for Maguire.

I'm guessing that Leicester really are not too keen on selling him & have put a ridiculous price on him to put the big boys off. Unless Maguire decides to push it I don't think it will happen.

I think he would be a good defensive foil for Lindelof. His dominance in the air, and ability to play out from the back could drastically improve us as a team.
He’s got a couple of goals in him as well, which is excellent for us, considering how poor we’ve been at set pieces last season.

would you guys take Mats Hummels for €15-20 million? Apparently going back to Dortmund. He's better than smalling, jones, rojo and bailly.

would add depth

No declining CB no thank you

I don't the negativity, clearly an upgrade on what we have as for the price there was Utd tax before prices went crazy, makes Deligt to PSG for somehwere around 65 mil all the more vexing if it happens, but then nothing really new there we have always lost out on certain players, not everyone wanted to come to Utd even in our pomp

t least Maquire should improve our transition from defence to attack, and he is a pretty decent defender, and not as slow as everyone makes out.

Maguire is not even remotely a top quality defender so yes it’s comparable.

And Alderweireld could be got for £175kish a week. He’s balked at Spurs offering him £100-125k per week and who can blame him. He would be a great stop-gap until better options present themselves and/or Tuanzebe is ready.

A striker who can’t even control the ball with a centre back who’s good on the ball & can play from the back, it’s not comparable.

You are just making it up by saying 175kish a week, any top club would have gone for him with that wages. He’s reaching end of his career of course he will take any opportunity to ask crazy wages to other clubs. And he’s old, do you want another Sanchez’s case?

My god, not every 29 year old will be like Sanchez! How old was Teddy Sheringham when we signed him?

Sayin what?
He's 26 and won the player of the year for 5 of those years. Raising his game at each new level.

I think he would probably win it here if things don't go perfectly in attack as he has the character and an adventurous skill set that fans like.

Wan Bissaka just won the player of the season at palace aswell. Dismiss it as much as you like.

It will be suicidal to use two slow CBs.
He didn't look to shabby when he almost guided England to a world Cup final. He was rock solid. Compare that to Smalling who was shambolic when he played for England, so much do that central defenders from Burnley, Everton and Leicester get called up to the national team ahead of him.

Exactly.

They're the best players from their respective midtable clubs. By consequence, both are knocking on the door of being top four quality if only given the opportunity.

Seeing as we're never going to be able to buy directly from the top four, players like these are the next best option.

And because we don't have time to wait about to see if signings form other leagues will be able to adapt to the PL, bringing in individuals who already have experience in the league is the obvious way to go if we're going to pay big money.

Are those who complains Maguire is not quick enough are the ones who complained that Blind is noy quick enough? And also the ones who complained why we let him go when Blind played great at Ajax?

Maguire even eliminate one of Blind weakness by being taller and much better in the air

With over 50 scouts at our disposal I'd expect us to come with better options then Maguire from Leicester for 80m.

Stop this shite. Why we still trying to sign him?

I definitely would. Especially at that price. He brings experience & is a leader. Good aerially, comfortable dribbling out from the back & is still among the best passers of the ball among the world's top defenders.

Only downside is Bayern need money to fund their move for Sane and we'd be helping them.
