60m plus Jones would be the ideal. But feel it would have happened by now

Absolutely. They have Jones to play in starting XI and 60m to invest elsewhere. Otherwise they will need to pay 40m for Jones' level player on deadline day, if not more

Cash + Phil Jones deal it should be then, or Cash + Rojo.

They'd rather just have the cash.

Think about it, why would they want to take on a player like Jones or Rojo, both of whom currently earn more than they pay Maguire, and who spend the majority of the season out injured?

These are the reasons no club has even come with an informal inquiry for Jones or for Rojo despite both clearly not being in the long term plans here.

In order to effectively get a player for about 20m, and not for 40m in a cash deal they would need to do otherwise in the market. Everyone will be quoting them silly prices for CBs after a cash only deal goes through.

I would imagine it is his opinion, which I actually agree with personally.
But it's only an opinion based on the history of Transfer fees that have been paid across time. Why should VVD cost £70m when Rio cost only £30m? It's obvious. The times they are a-changing.

Leicester have their own opinion on Maguire's price. But not only is their opinion better informed, it's also more valid as it covers the the reality of their own finances.

Any poster who talks about 'value' is pulling numbers out of the air in the same way Leicester are - only those posters don't know anywhere near enough to make those judgements.

As I've said previously, Maguire is not a fungible commodity. He's 3 x the price that Mings went for. But would anyone want 3 Mings instead? You get 3 heads and 6 legs, so technically you get more for your money. But that's not how football works. You can't simply swap and match qualities without looking at the whole player. Maguire, as a whole, is deemed the vital for Leicester and missing piece for United. Therefore the asking price is what he's worth.

With how complex some transfers can be nowadays, I'm really surprised player + cash deals don't happen far more regularly than they do. If I was Leicester I'd have no hesitation in taking £60m + Jones for Maguire.

Jones wouldn't be a player that wee Brendan would want, not good enough on the ball, not too mention his obvious injury concerns

Do we have an alternative or a back up plan for another defender if Maguire proves to be too costly? The lad from Fiorentina? I am not going to mention Toby because i don't want to engage with the Spurs fans over how billy big bollocks their players are

Feck me what the god dam hell are you on about.

His opinion in the current market is he is worth 60/65M which I think is about right, Leicester can charge whatever they want the same as we can with Pogba.

All those paragraphs because someone has an opinion, jesus you need to get out more lad

Can't really see Leicester wanting cash plus Jones or Rojo. They'll quite rightly want cash and the chance to make their own call about a replacement.

There's a reason there's not a sniff of interest in Jones/Rojo /Bailley. They're on lucrative contracts and the clubs that MIGHT conceivably be interested in them will baulk at their wages and injury profile.

Opinions can be wrong. On balance, Leicester's opinion is better than yours. If anyone is wrong it's you.

Why is £80m wrong for Maguire's market worth?

Weren’t they strongly linked with Dunk to replace Maguire? Jones/Rojo/Bailly + enough cash to buy Dunk and then some would be a nice deal you’d think.

Don’t think they want any of our defenders to be honest. Jones could potentially be a savvy signing for them, providing he stays fit.

For some reason Leicester playing 2 games at the same time tomorrow.
Stoke and Rotherham, HM is with what looks like the squad for the first team. It doesn't bode well for an imminent transfer.

Only way Phil Jones would come to us is if either Utd agree to pay some of his wages or he takes a pay cut, because with him already rumoured being on around £120k, no way are we going to bring him in on that kind of money as our 3rd highest earner, he isn't worth it

Well Toby's 25m release clause has expired now so we won't be buying him.

And we can spare the Ed jokes how we'll be in for him now please.

It's an opinion you melt, the lad thinks he is worth 60m, I think he is worth the same, Leicester think he is worth 80m.

Big fecking whoop, and I can honestly say that neither myself or the other guy, give two fecks whether you think we are wrong or not

I keep seeing comments like this and I don't for the life of me understand why people would see either as an appealing bargaining chip?

Jones isn't a bad player if he keeps himself fit and uses him properly. He isn't exactly a Titus Bramble or a Mangala at defending. He's a better defender than people give him credit for

Come on. It is still Leicester, not Barcelona, squad is not THAT great. Marcos Rojo is an Argentina international, Jones used to be an England international. They are good enough to come as a replacement if accompanied by additional 60m pounds.

Have you ever seen a professional footballer perform a legitimate tackle using his head?

So, we got a deal?

Phil Jones would start for you.

Rojo is shit.

Jones can be very good when he stays injury free. Trouble is, he never does. Also, he is a little weak in the air.
