Sky sources say that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear to Manchester United that he wants to sign Harry Maguire as soon as possible.

It is now up to Ed Woodward to complete a deal for the centre-back.

Get it done NOW ED !!
when they say Sky Sources it means they have made it up to fill air time

Doubt Sky know feck all - why would a 'yes man' go against his boss anyway?

I would assume that if Oly is going to be pushed under a bus later because of a non performing team, then at least he can say that he wasn't supported by the king of trasnsfers.
When have we had any decent players in the last 6 or 7 years., I feel sorry for all the managers under the owners and Woodward's., They are not into football other than the fat pay checks it pays them.

Well seeing as it’s all now on Woodward to sort this I’m preparing myself for a season of Smalling and Jones at centre back, I’m trying to think positive though so I’ve reminded myself that at least Young isn’t a first choice selection anymore.

For all LC fans, injury on Bailey will do feck all to this signing. Its irrelevant whether Bailey is fit or injured.

Just seen Bailly is injured AGAIN and seeing as neither Jones or Rojo can string 3 games together without injury or an acceptable performance the need for Maguire is highlighted even more.

Honestly if we can find a buyer, ANY buyer, for Bailly and Rojo then we should take the money as they’re pointless for us, say what you will about Smalling but at least he’s available for selection for the most part and has been our most consistent centre back for the past 5 years.

'Breaking news' from Sky saying Ole has told Ed he wants Maguire signed ASAP.. This will happen, it's a matter of time.
Sky are only marginally better than Seanfrom Bellenderby, they both make crap up for clicks.

Pretty sure Sky were part of the whole Ole gives Ed ultimatum to get Fernandes signed before preseason starts crowd that was rumbling in the media late June. That clearly turned out to be bollocks and this is the same. We may or may not sign Harry but Sky have no fecking clue how close we are or what Ole has said to anyone.

Was being sarcastic mate. Don't know how to do white text.

Totally agree as you have a dirth of quality defenders to step up obviously.

So accepting that has feck all impact It leaves 3 things, you meet our valuation, the bid is accepted and Harry wants to join you.

Don't understand the point. Isn't that your stand always been ? Bailey injury changes nothing, absolutely nothing on both sides.

don't think that was his point. I don't think Bailly injury changes anything as he's so far down the list of who Ole would choose at CH. Fighting with Rojo (and we don't want him either).

For me, it's simple - we pay the price or we don't (and other factors won't change our or Leicesters view)

Maguire is not worth 60-90 million.

But 50, or 40+ variables, ok.

AWB isn’t worth £50m
Newcastle’s new forward isn’t worth £40m but the market is dictating and driving up the value of players.

Don’t get sucked into SS breaking news. They have to create talking points for their transfer shows.

Who would leak that to Sky? And if you were Sky would you be happy with that non news?

It’s a made up statement. I’m just yesterday Ole was actually quoted as saying that he is happy to go into the new season with no more signings.

Yup, spot on. We do need a CB as well though.

Ye probably but 2 good defenders with basically non existent shield in front is worse than defenders we have with proper proper DMC. There was always this talk about CBs having great protection in front but without it, even the best defenders will show their weaknesses when they are exposed.

Breaking news.... Ole wants deals done sooner rather tha later.

Really? I thought he'd be spoiling for some last min sh!T, going to bed not sure if a signing had been made, ala Fellaini 6 years ago.

It's called "overpriced", a boom that started with Barça's-Liverpool's-PsG's antics with Ney-Cou.
It doesn't matter how or when the market changed. All that matters is that it has.

You wouldn't refuse to buy bread because it was cheaper before the War, and then a boom started after the breakup of the British Empire.

This is the world we live in.

Bially injured, sounds a bad one, unlucky for him just got back from a fair one as well. Maguire is maybe more reason now to get him?

Bunch of fekking economic professors in here. There's subjective value and objective value. The posters are saying that objectively, even with the current transfer numbers, this defender isn't worth that fee.

Feel the same way about this as I did about AWB. In that case I wanted it done so I wouldn't have to watch Young pretend to be a RB anymore and I want this done so I don't have to watch Smalling, Jones or Rojo. Don't mind Ed haggling but when the time comes pay what it takes and move on.

Which would be a nothing statement - it’s just rehashing the fact that the market is overpriced. And actually I would say ‘objectively’ he is worth what the market dictates because that is not due to opinion. ‘Subjectively’ these posters don’t think he’s worth that fee because THEY don’t think he is.

Posters are right, of course he is not worth this fee. Nonetheless, this transfer is worth doing as it will improve our defence a lot. This is more important than saving a few millions of money

Maguire isn't a fungible commodity.

Statistically, he's the best defender in the all of Europe if you take a combination of heading and passing metrics.

Given our weakness at setpieces and our tactic to play out of the back with pacy forwards up front, Maguire is perfect to be an aerial presence who's also able to launch quick counters.

Since Leicester have a contract with the player, the price they quote is precisely what he's worth. And the price they're quoting is intrinsically linked to how much money they already have in the bank.

Last season, the bottom placed PL team earned £100m in TV revenue alone. The English game is ridiculously rich and getting richer. The bumper TV contract isn't going away anytime soon. With that in mind, Maguire was on sale for £70m in 2018 and £80m in 2019.

If we leave it another year, he won't be getting cheaper. He's the ideal player for Ole and this is as low as his price will be whilst he's still in his prime.
