Better or on the same level than Maguire and available for similar price that is happy to join us? Please let me know...

This is my point, people are happy to complain about the price and then throw out unproven players or ones who don’t want to join our club.

The classic is Alderwield, he may have already said no, maybe Tottenham are in the process of renewing his contract etc.

Otherwise we would just buy VVD and De Ligt and be done with it.

How? Maguire never gets hurt, Jones gets hurt taking a shite.
He might start picking up injuries for whatever reason. He might just be flat out shite like 'PL proven' Morgan Schneiderlin. Who knows?

Mark Ogden just posted an article saying we are miles away from a deal and the best we have offered is 40m. Considering the source I think we can accept that the deal is done and he will be here in the next 24 hours.

Yeah I just read the story. Ogden and Stone both seem to be a little off this summer. I guess pissed off united fans is more clicks. Ogden saying 40mil when there is a story written by him on ESPN we had a 70mil rejected.

So first he’s miles away and then he’s about to have a medical for us in the next 48 hours?

Ogden is a paid troll at this point. I don’t think he’s said anything positive about united for years ever since moyes got sacked and he lost his source. He comes across as extremely bitter these days and often runs these stupid stories trying to make us look bad.

I swear I read something saying Utd and Leicester were miles away in negotiations but also he's having a medical in the next 48 hours?

Maybe they're letting us kick the tyres before we put in a bid.

Being stuck in Alabama I watch a lot of ESPN on YouTube and this guy makes me want to put my foot through the screen on a regular basis. He has been peddling the same nonsense all summer, basically Solskjaer is rubbish, the club has no money to spend and we will be lucky to be in the top half of the table next year.

If this goes through then you expect to see
De Gea
AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw

However knowing Utd we will still see this
De Gea
Young Smalling Jones Shaw

. I get the same feeling. You just know they are not going anywhere. The useless RB and the chuckle idiots.

Ogden is basically just a clickbait merchant for ESPN these days. I'd put him in the same category as Miguel Delaney, except I think Ogden has sources at the club who feed him self-serving BS. Delaney, on the other hand, has no sources and has to rely entirely on his imagination.

He's playing the heel. Jackson played the role well too.

Always irritating when you're lead to believe a transfer is pretty much done, then days later there's still talk of being "Miles away", or still being in discussions etc.

Leicester is about 100 miles away from Manchester... And Woodward is probably in London anyway so that's even more miles. The negotiators are clearly Lots of miles away from each other.

What if they don’t?
Well, we're back to square one. It's just that a lot of people seem to think we should offer a player to sweeten the deal. Obviously they're not going to be interested in Rojo, Jones or Bailly and we're unlikely to want to lose Lindelof or Smalling, which leaves Tuanzebe as the remaining candidate who may have some appeal to the Foxes.

Ogden v Castles, who’s got the inside track and who’s talking shite, place your bets

If we let Tuanzebe leave then we'll be more stupid then everyone thought we are. If Leicester want one of our defenders then they can get 1 between Rojo, Jones, Bailly or Darmian.

£50m is definitely about right but that is in a market where he is readily available. Leicester don't wanna sell so we have to cough up enough to push them into budging.

Also talk of reselling and stuff always baffled me... we're rich as feck and we're Manchester United who gives a feck about resale, just feck em off for cheap when they are no use anymore... Unless it is a prized asset who wants out.

No, I mean thats what I would expect to pay a club that dont want to sell him. Like most players which clubs dont want to sell. I think he's worth £45 million or so but they'd want some extra

Its not about resale, we dont want to sell him we want him to be successful. But being successful at £80 million takes a lot of accomplishments and means you should have high expectations of the player. If we signed him he would have to transform the team

At £45-50 million he'd be a fairly expensive addition that improves us (though mainly going forward, and being more entertaining) a bit

Your argument obviously doesnt work out, because look at Mourinho.

He paid shit loads of money for players including some CBS, then when he asked for even more money for even more CBs he was declined. Because his players hadnt delivered.

If Ole goes and spends £80 million on Maguire, he's going to be expected to get around £80 million's worth out of the player. Else he'll be the next manager who doesnt get money to spend

Must have some seeing is how he was right about the only 2 deals so far this window...
Not really , anyone can latch onto what other people have said and roll with it, looks good when it comes off and looks stupid when it back fires . Judging by recent tweets from credited journalists it's back fired on him

So, I remember when Blanc played for us. He was slow! But he can be considered "great" , 'cause he could read a game well. (granted, we didn't see the great Blanc play for us).

Now. Is Maguire Blanc-level slow? And how is he at reading the game?

My post was intended as a joke.

As you mentioned, Blanc was past it when he joined United and pace is a much bigger part of the defensive game now than it was in the past.

The big thing with the Maguire deal (if it goes through) is the fee. If this was even 40m+20 add ons, the negativity was be substantially lower but with that fee and our current state, we will look more at his flaws than what he brings due to how poor our more recent big money signings have turned out.

Blanc was statue slow.
One of the players who makes Maguire look rapid.
