Yeah this! Let's just let these guys fight it out, destroy whatever they like and run riot in the streets! Why? Because the Greek police dared to arrest one of our players for his own actionsDefund the police.

The ONLY version of events is the police side. Have we had a statement from maguire or independent witnesses? No.
of course they’re going to paint it like a serious incident, they can’t go arresting a famous figure for no reason.
Elite hipster centre backs vs Alleged Police assaulting wannabe centre backs. You don’t know jack about this case so stop acting like you do
You’re not worth my time on this subject. Waste someone else’s time. The ONLY version of events is the police side. Have we had a statement from maguire or independent witnesses? No.

Sorry, where are you getting this from that they were being assaulted by police? The police separated them & weren't even going to arrest them until they themselves were assaulted by the group. Also, are you actually a neanderthal? Just because you think you're in the right when doing something is not a legal defence.
Stop replying to me then you halfwitYou’re not worth my time on this subject. Waste someone else’s time.
Nice change of tune here. If Maguire is innocent then there's no problem & I take no issue with your comment but don't act like I'm disagreeing with you on that point. I have an issue with your comments that he was within his rights if he physically assaulted a police officer because that's just factually incorrect.Oh yeah that sounds so likely!
so they’d finished fighting 1 group and then hadn’t had enough, so decided to beat up the police too. Hahahah.
they obviously rolled into town, found who they thought were the culprits and arrested them. No doubt heavy handedly.
perhaps they resisted? Maybe. This is all conjecture.
all I know is maguire isn’t an aggressive thug and these allegations don’t sound anything like him. I am certain these charges will get dropped and you’ll all sound very stupid.
Exactly. They did. There was an article the other day about Rashford and Lingard being over there and having to be on alert and ready to leave in case Greece was added to the quarantine list as training begins Sept 1st. Maguire being in Greece isn’t the issue, him potentially smacking a police officer is
To some extent, whether this develops into a legitimate charge and court case is not the key issue. The key issue was Maguire, a star player and club captain at arguably the most high profile club in the world, putting himself into a situation where could even find himself arrested and charged. He shouldn't have been there in the first place or doing anything at all that might have harmed the reputation of the club and himself.Defending him from what? No one knows anything about the incident. It's all conjecture at this point.
That's a deep Caf cut from the past.Wonder if Maguire shouts out a particular phrase when he's angry, like "ITS SLABBER-HEAD TIME!" y'know similar to The Thing from the Fantastic Four.
Yeah.
It's Greek Island, they should have done a decathlon to sort out their differences.Yeah this! Let's just let these guys fight it out, destroy whatever they like and run riot in the streets! Why? Because the Greek police dared to arrest one of our players for his own actions
No, it's not. That's in the case of self defence when you believe your life is in danger. Unless you're saying that Maguire expected he and his friends to be murdered by the police officers and was therefore in his rights to attack an officer(s)?Yes, it is, actually.
The right of self-defense:
Also called, when it applies to the defense of another, alter ego defense, defense of others, defense of a third person, is the right for people to use reasonable force or defensive force, for the purpose of defending one's own life (self-defense) or the lives of others, including –in certain circumstances– the use of deadly force
If a defendant uses defensive force because of a threat of deadly or grievous harm by the other person, or a reasonable perception of such harm, the defendant is said to have a "perfect self-defense" justification If the defendant uses defensive force because of such a perception, and the perception is not reasonable, the defendant may have an imperfect defense as an excuse.
"We were just practising for the pankration."It's Greek Island, they should have done a decathlon to sort out their differences.
This is an odd take, you act like he's been caught in a drug den or something. To some extent, whether this develops into a legitimate charge and court case is not the key issue. I am happy to assume his innocence with these charges, but still see him as having big questions to answer to as to his role at Old Trafford.

Yeah.
They were with him during the day, but not there at night. From what I’ve been told Rashford and Williams are also on holiday there. Hopefully they’re not involved as well.
Class myself as maguire fc I would defend any united player got into a few fights sticking up for Eric and chinned some prick in a pub for slagging Rooney off comes with being a true fan I suppose
Was probably one of our own
Apparently he was tackled to the ground after trying to out-run the police.
Hearing that the CCTV footage has been reviewed and we’ve been awarded a penalty. Bruno is currently en route to Greece take take the penalty.
Oh Harry. What a silly thing to do as a captain. Pogba is trending in relation to this too
Ouch. I thought ‘a compromise’ would be reached but this sounds like the Greek authorities are doubling down, ensuring the case will be prosecuted for exactly what it was.
We are not sure which charges pertain to Macguire, but violence against and attempting a police officer are two extremely serious charges and makes me seriously question his judgement.
watching that video, I’m quite shocked that Maguire would mix so freely with strangers in this COVID-19 context. Also what the hell Is he doing on a lads holiday in such an environment. He knows he will be targeted by opportunists.
this incident makes no sense given the extreme disipline he has lived his life by for past 12 months. WTF is he doing out on the town in Mykonos?? If he wanted a blow out, he should have done so in private set up and with people he knows and trusts.
If the head doesn't fit, you must acquit.
Over in the U.S. we call that a "tip" but ok Greeks.
Attempted bribery of an employee? Eh? What?
That's what comes with being a high profile figure where a massive amount of your value to your organisation is tied up in your reputation and sponsorship opportunities. This is an odd take, you act like he's been caught in a drug den or something.
In 1990 I was quite the party animal so yes is the answer. I didn't see the need to tell everyone that I won two World Wars and one World Cup though.Do you go to the main strips where all the bars are ? Or are you out for a meal and then tucked up in bed by 12.
I also agree with him that their police dont mess about. They role in, batter everybody then ask questions later. Seen it with my own eyes also, they just dislike drunk Europeans and I can’t really blame them.
If the head doesn't fit, you must acquit.
Him playing for Leicester probably wasn't used to all the fuss, joke aside I agree, very poor judgement, he seem like a genuinely nice fella, probably not used to the high life as such! Also all those people crowding, not exactly the brightest thing to do in a pandemic with so short time to start overall not exactly captain choices any of these!I can't grasp this. I'm sure footballers are subject to all sorts of shit which is totally unfair and especially where nightlife is involved but how is a professional athlete, earning millions a year even arriving in these situations during what is essentially a very short recovery break. Surely they just book into high end resorts with privacy and lessen the chances of this type of stuff. I don't like too much reactionism but if he actually verbally abused and hit a police officer as reported, I would prefer him to lose the captaincy. Might give him extra incentive to improve, solskjaer and opportunity to show some ruthlessness and we have other candidates.
